    Lovely blouses, love the idea of the inside out sleeve to solve the error. We all make them…😉 your finished jumpers are beautiful. So inspiring to a relatively novice knitter… I’ll definitely be exploring those patterns. Have a fab meet up! 😘 xx 🚴‍♀️🐝

    So pleased to see the Fitzroy blouse, my daughter had recommended it to me just the other day, really like the collar. Re your „cuff“ faux-pas, had to smile, I spend a lot of time trying to sew the perfect cuff, only to roll up the sleeves as soon as I put the blouse on, nobody will ever see the cuffs again. I would just shorten the sleeves to 3/4 length with a simple hem and let the fabulous body do all the talking.

    I absolutely love your ruffle shirt - so glamorous! This week I sewed, overlocked and topstitched (with a triple stitch) both sleeves of my Mile End Sweatshirt the wrong way round. To add insult to injury, I was only making it to use up scraps and ended up having to buy another half a metre of fabric as didn't think I'd be able to unpick it without ending up with holes in the fabric...aarrggh! With regards to the pleated shirt - I think I'd take the lazy option and just wear it with the sleeves artfully turned up.

    • @soandiesews
      @soandiesews  Год назад +1

      Thank you so much Jo. That’s so frustrating and I think your right about leaving holes, especially with a triple stitch. I thought about calling the shop I bought the shirt fabric from to see if they have a half meter, but it was ages ago. It might be worth a quick call though. 😊

    I love the ruffle shirt, but those pattern pieces look confusing alright. With your fail, I would have thrown it in the bin by now... too many issues for me.and good on you for having a go at fixing it. I love your honesty and really enjoy your videos. Happy sewing

      Thank you so much Deb. They are really unusual pattern pieces but once you have figured them out, the contraction is quite straight forward. Ooh those knitting needles look like they could do some damage in the wrong hands lol. Glad your eyes are better!!! I remember getting sand in mine years ago from a gusty day on the beach, which left me in an eye patch for a week or so. I can still recall the pain. I’m not allowed to do DIY in our house cos that kind of mishap happens more often than not. Actually, my bank holiday has also been spent with my own home-sprucing, bedecked in safety goggles and marigolds as I’ve been spraying remover over any black mould in the house. It’s a rock and roll lifestyle here lol. Glad your mojo is returning - methinks a shopping trip to a fabric shop will help it along nicely xx

    Back again ,How did you alter you needles for different weights of yarn ?that was my first pattern on circular needles before the pandemic so was a learning curve ,I made it in laceweight yarn but would like to make another one perhaps in 4 ply 🥰

    • @soandiesews
      @soandiesews  Год назад

      Hi Eileen. I use interchangeable circular needles (Chiaogoo). You buy different size needle tips and attach to the cord. On the yarn label you will find the recommended needle size but the pattern will tell you what gauge the sizes are based on. Check that against you needle size and yarn and make sure your gauge swatch matches. If it doesn’t then you need to change your needle size either up or down. X

    • @soandiesews
      @soandiesews  Год назад +1

      Hello, no problem at all. I did grade from a size 14 hips to a 16 waist. They are a little too large for me now so I would probably go down to a 12 hip but still grade up to the 14 waist. The pattern is really straight forward. I think Rachel (Stitched Up) has a sew along for them. I hope that helps 😊

    Your blouse fits perfect lovely pleated sleeve LOVE everything about I great with the white jeans but the colour does nothing for you (sorry ) perhaps a lovely flowery broach at the top ? I’ve had to do that sometimes just to add some colour please don’t take offence I made a dark grey pinstripe pinafore dress which I looked terrible in till I put a pink blouse underneath 🥰 also I’ve made the Xanthe dress which had those awful things at the top .I even had to make a paper template and fold it till lt turned out right .I’ve made three of those dresses but I’m not convinced I’ve done it right although it looks lovely ,I’ve done it in a viscose linen .👍 that last blouse looks lovely .great fabric .see you on the next one ( just to say the tutorial for the Xanthe dress is so fast it’s useless with blue fabric using blue cotton👎)

      @@soandiesews thank you yes I got that .I just meant the button template ?
