silver only been a year since this album has been out and it’s happening. At first many people didn’t understand it but confusingly enough over time we’ve all realized this is an amazing album. RIP is so weird it’s amazing and same with most of these songs they’re all so simple yet complex and vibe heavy.
@@farazkhalid1765 Amazing? He literally says about 5 actual words on pull up, and love hurts has one of the worst beats I've ever heard
Eb Trax love hurts is kinda weird and as said in the review pull ups vibe and adlibs as well as flow is what saves it and makes it one of my favorites
Self-Titled mixtape: One of the most mindless listens of 2017
Die lit: intoxicating in it’s simplicity
Fredom Fighterlol Carti about to make everybody like him
fantano is just trying to jump on a wave. It's hilarious to see actually. Die Lit is nowhere close in quality to the self-titled mixtape. That's the problem with artists in general who are inventive: people don't get it right away. Not only do they not get it, they dismiss it. Then copy it afterward.
Fredom Fighterlol die lit leagues better than self titled lol
I disagree, I think Carti took his formula and improved on almost every aspect of the self-titled
@@megazion34 i think he missed out on having more varied production from self titled, like southside and mexikodro. he's beefing with mexikodro unfortunately

Sad to see so many simple people only focusing on the lyrical content and letting the actual music go over their heads
it's been going on like this for at least a decade now. Which is why hip hop is in the bad shape it is now. People let the actual music go over their heads.
tochiRTA i perfer lyrical content but i understand what your saying as in actual music that just feel good our problem is that most of these artist dont have the idea of how their music sound its mainly just the producers who can make any artist sound good. For example no matter how many people hate kanye its no doubt he takes his time producing and thoughtfully putting his albums together.
SidsMexicali ppl are acting like there is a special way to listen to these braindead mumble rappers, carti got no talent it’s just ad libs.

He's low key receiving death threats from people in the MUMBLE industry. They're also getting a cut of his check. Melon's being held hostage, y'all.
No doubt. That explains this. This album should get a NOT GOOD at best.
THEDEADWALK1980 I still need to check it out. The "minimal" aspect kind of interests me.
That also explains the decent 7 to lil pump
Ghjh Fhiin Oh yeah. They also told him they were tired of Kendrick getting such high ratings, so they made him give DAMN. a 7 instead of an 8.
THEDEADWALK1980 I disagree, this album should get a 4 or 5 at best. The self-titled mixtape should have gotten a 7/10 though. Overall, it is Fantano's opinion and I am glad that he likes a project by Carti. In my opinion, I like old Carti when he actually rapped but his new stuff is cool too.
When Melon said "I'm feeling a light to decent Damn on this thing." That's when I poured water all over my laptop and hanged myself only to wake up in a hospital for the nurse to tell me that Anthony Fantano gave Carti a Damn/10.

@@peters5090 Good music is relative, like music itself. Everyone likes something else.
@@TIMSONBOB surely there are some aspects of the quality of music that we can judge objectively? right? like whether or not something is in time rhythmically or in key melodically. if the lyrics are at least conveying complex meaning, if the rhyme scheme is complex. Die lit barely qualifies as music at all, according to these standards, as it is so simple, repetitive, and lacking in meaning or depth that it could have been made by a toddler smashing pots and pans in his moms kitchen. it's truly a marvel that it received such praise, and i hold that opinion that the high reviews and praise are mostly socially/politically motivated rather than honest assessments of this work's quality. we out
@@rohnitnair i can't even sit thru a song, but i guess i find interesting music "fun". there's nothing there to hold my attention. no melody, to progression, no lyrics, hardly any variety in the flows or beats, just no redeeming qualities, so i don't see how u can find it fun
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Playboi Carti. The lyricism is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the bars will go over a typical listeners head. There's also Carti’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these lyrics, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Playboi Carti truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Carti’s existencial catchphrase "SLATT*" which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Jordan Carter's genius unfolds itself while on their AirPods. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a VLone tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
Nigga stole dis from the arm and leg video 🤦♂️

Vibe and sound should be the focus when listening to this, if you get stuck on lyrics and search only for trap bangers your not going to like it, its supposed to hypnotic with the production, vocals and repitition to the point where it invokes a vibe and makes you feel something, carti has a style that alot of people aren't gonna understand, its almost like experimental trap in a way, hes on to something and is doing something pretty different in comparison to the rest of the trap scene and he deserves all the credit thats coming his way from this tape

YOURE COOL AT HEART. based on a lot of your reviews, your able to see through a lot of sub-cultures and understand why carti sounds the way it does and how he’s essentially a modern punk rock artist. Not a lyricist, a style icon and music enthusiast making his take on the most popular genre in which his generation was raised upon.
Rock has man sub-genres in it.
Rap is now that way. Travis Scott is the Kurt Cobain of today. Rodeo is our time stamp for punk-rap as a sub genre.

SHOOTA SLAPS HARD BOY
you goddam right, hardest song on the LP
“lets be honest this dude is never gonna come up with a consistent record“ - melon talking about playboi carti
On die lit playboi carti makes the most out of literal nonsense instead of using bars in succession, he uses ambiguous similes and metaphors after a barrage of adlibs, it’s absolutely incredible that someone can do that and make a song, let alone be able to do that consistently for a large number of songs on one album that flows so amazingly, his delivery and the way he twists the pitch of his voice adds to the songs he makes because he goes out of his way to cohesively flow and make a simple sentence or adlib with the beat and add to it instead of just simply rapping over it in basic bar structure, he’s doing new things with hip hop and I feel he’s found a new way to make songs that are fantastic even though they lack the deep thought and basic bar structure of mainstream hip hop, it’s almost like what punk was to rock back in the late 70s and early 80’s alot of people thought it was nonsense, that was too fast, the lyrics made no sense, and it was “brain dead” but people that understand why punk was like that and why playboi carti makes his music the way that he does, understand the true artistic value of said music despite how lacking it may seem to others
dudes song structure is AAAA, all choruses

Big W for fantano for appreciating carti’s style
I’m with ya, Melon! This is a solid album. Probably the best thing it has going for it is that it flows from track to track so well. It sets a tone from the bottom intro and carries over from track to track. Carti’s flow can grow a little old by the time you’re at the halfway point. But the production is varied enough to keep it interesting. The Lil Uzi Vert song starts out like a Panic at the Disco or Fall Out Boy song. I actually had to check the track to make sure my phone didn’t skip to another album. I like this!

Jon Swavyy I feel this bro 😂💯 Carti a rockstar. His music isn’t meant for lyrics it’s meant for vibes; underrated artist imo
Jon Swavyy yah mean is a classic
Deraved Facts, he's underrated but successful. You can be successful and underrated at the same time, like Kodak Black

I feel like the mixtape should have been the one to receive a 7/10 instead of the album. Nevertheless, glad to see that Fantano enjoyed it.
Young Mi$fit is Carti's best mixtape lyrically too. (Not talking about his self-titled mixtape in this comment, talking about his first mixtape from 2012 as $ir Cartier)
neither of his projects are "lyrical" but I enjoy both regardless. Carti is the last guy you should call lyrical lol
Self titled is a 10
Birds in the Rodeo Sing Astroworld I mean he had better bars and a traditional rap flow on Young Mi$fit.
Birds in the Rodeo Sing Astroworld You could hear a strong Curren$y influence back in his $ir Cartier days, and he had better bars than compared to now.
I remember being so confused how this got 7/10 when it dropped. Now I am confused how the fuck he managed to find even one song to put as his least fav track
Die Lit is a 10/10
MELON W H A T. T H E. F U C K.
