Eric knows this but for everyone else, depress the brake pedal slightly with a bar or stick wedged against the driver's seat, this will prevent/minimize brake fluid dripping when replacing the brake line.
Also, try to prevent brake fluid and grease from contacting the pads which can bake in and create glazing, hot spots, and shorten their lifespan. Same with the rotors. If they become contaminated make sure to clean them well, eh ehm . . .

Use a longer hose, place end of hose into a quarter mason jar with about 2 inches of brake fluid in it. Keep the hose as close to the bottom as possible. Leave the bleeder completely open them pump the brakes, the old fluid will float on top of the new, and during the process not pull air into the piston/cylinder.

I have used EBC brake pads on my motorcycles for years and they are well known in the bike community. EBC is privately owned company with it's roots in the U.K. The initial concept behind EBC was to produce a quality line of braking components manufactured in the U.K. only so that a consistent product was being made. EBC Brakes produce the largest range of brake pads and brake discs in the world, with over 5000 part numbers for every type of moving vehicle. EBC Brakes are made in one of its two specialist factories in the UK and USA. (They are sold in China but none of their parts are made there.) The majority of EBC brake discs or brake rotors are also made in the UK. They also sell matched brake sets with discs that are balanced and weigh the same to ensure each wheel carries the same loading.

Green Stuffs are great 'streetable' brakes. They bite enough to use them on the street without needing heat in them first, but they work really well when hot, vs the usual organic pads out there that fade away (faster) once they get toasty. Some guys make the mistake of buying Red Stuff pads and end up running into people and things. They _require_ heat to work. When they get hot, oh boy they work, though.

I had no idea the green pads made from Unicorn Tears could be so aggressive ?, but I'm going to stick with the standard high end ceramic ... I also love the CRC silicone brake grease in the tube ... seems to hold up really well in PA (another rust belt state) ... I'm always torn between regular undercarriage washing (and/or with rust inhibitor ?) .... as regular washing seems to also (maybe) cause premature caliper piston seizing ? ... no a big deal as I replace them often with decent rebuilds ... as an old seasoned Rally driver once told me in my 20's ... "kid it ain't always how fast you can go, but how fast you can brake when things get dicey" ... Kind of hard to mess up lego brake parts made from the last 10-15 years in small sedans. They use the same brake components across a wide variety of different makes and models, so finding parts isn't like how it once was in the early 2000s and the 1990s and older.

I live a little farther South in the same rusty crusty state you do, and always paint my calipers and brackets. Not so much because I want them to look great, just to help keep the rust under control. It's not fool proof, but then nothing is. I believe it does help, but you pretty much have to tear them apart once a year, clean things up, touch up the paint, and then re lube everything if you want to keep the rust at bay long term.
Same applies to wheels. If you don't actually rotate them, and give things a toot of the fluid film, or some other kind of lube, when you get a flat, and you're trying to change that sucker on the side of the road, in the rain, after dark, you're gonna have a hell of a time getting that wheel off. Needless to say, mine get a cleaning and lube when I rotate my tires at every oil change.
