I could donate with rubles, but policy is making me angry, since its not avaivable in the Russia😢. Hate that war or how we call SVO(Special Military Operation)
Agreed. Some of the best movies in the world were filmed with low budgets. You don't need anything expensive. That imagination will take you farther.
He does talk but the only time it really happens in the game is during the phone call to beard before the bomb goes off. It's not really known exactly what he was saying, though i remember beard responding "those kind of things happen." Not sure if its before the rampages or during, but i like to think it's right before and his car was possibly vandalized by the russians (kimd of like richters car)
If I'm not wrong, he DOES choose to talk, but when he does the player isn't controlling him, so we never see him talk even if he does. He talks with his lawyer in the second game for example, but like we are far, we don't hear the conversation.
Despite the budget, I love the way the movie got shortened by the stories, and made a bit differently. I would legit believe that a full movie with an insane remaster could be possible for you guys in the future, like honestly, this gives even me inspiration to potentially form a Hotline Miami live action movie. All of you, no matter the budget or any available rescourses, you guys took what you had, and actually made a decent movie! My love for the amount of work you guys put in is unmeasurable. Thank you so much for creating this, and I wish you the sincerest for your future endeavors in filmmaking!!!
I told you id be here for the movie!!! Edit: Holy smokes!!! Imagine this with a bigger budget. Hollywood hire this guy!!! Massive props to the entire team, especially Calvin who did a great job in the main role. Absolutely incredible. You deserve all the attention youve gotten
@@calvinthibault1273 I can't imagine how much time it took all of you guys to make this, I wish you all the best on your acting career and wish your friends the best in their respective rolls. Incredible work, you all deserve the attention this has gotten and I see a bright future for all of you!
I don't care about budget, i'm glad to see people putting effort and time into providing something dedicated to this epic franchise, thank you man, you're a chad
Bro, it looks better than a lot of modern movies from major studios, you were able to capture the atmosphere of the game perfectly. Greetings from Russia.
Ive been waiting for an actually decent fanmade hotline miami film and you guys delivered! This film despite the very low budget captured the main essence of the game perfectly!
Literal internet gold, No better yet, a damn hidden gem. This was one of the best short films i've seen in a long long time, to be honest this is actually better than a literal movie made in Hollywood. You have something every other soulless movie company doesn't have: true passion and heart put into your stuff. This concludes my message but, keep it up.
I've always wanted to make my own Hotline Miami short film but never really had the drive to do it. It's safe to say, though, that this has definitely inspired me and gives me a shit ton of motivation to do it. I loved how you made the story your own while still remaining faithful to what Hotline Miami is. It's really hard to adapt video games into movies, especially when making the narrative different from the source, but you guys did a stellar fucking job. I'd love to see more from you in the future, Hotline Miami related or not.
for a moment i thought the story was following Biker. Edit: I have LEDs in my room so every time Jacket killed someone I would flash the lights red and cyan then go back to white, just like the games background! it was neat.
I really feel this obviously there are “story creative liberties” but what film adaptation doesn’t. Also even with an obviously low budget this is still really really good!!
Rasmus has great voice acting edit: Maybe if a big company sees this, they'll see the potential in a full theater-length well budgeted movie and create one
a hotline miami movie, conceptually, poses so many ludicrous questions as to how to approach the source material, how to adapt to the game's tone, and how to actually make a god damn hotline miami movie, that I can't even imagine getting past the planning phase without the whole thing being a total piss fest. but holy god did you completely slay this shit. I love the way you use color. I love the shots where details are obscured through darkness and visual effects. I love it when a guy gets slammed into a piano and he's just dead for some reason. I can only imagine how you and your incredible team managed to make something like this, but you did the hell out of it. If anybody in the Hotline fandom ever mentions the "Hotline Miami movie," everybody's gonna know they're talking about this. spectacular work.
incredible job, this is what i wanted from a hotline miami movie, something similar but not a direct copy. you perfectly captured the spirit of the game without rehashing it, and on a non-professional budget too! keep up the good work, i'm excited to see what you release next.
This was really cool watching it and seeing all of the elements of Hotline Miami put into a movie, I was excited for this when i saw the release trailer a couple weeks ago and it lived up to my hype I had, thank you for this and great job :)
that's so fkn good!!! Fans of Hotline Miami is very talented!!! Thx for your short film, this is what the fans have been waiting for so long! Good luck guys!
108k views and 2.4k subs. Only within the og communities Edit: maybe some will say the action is a mix between bored thoughts and a tv ad, but it's all still done well for what there was to work with and the lighting is better then in most films
This, if handled with a higher budget and whatnot, could be a reboot to the actual series like how Mortal Kombat 1 is a reboot. Like that Jacket is a hitman to help his violent nature, the Russians are taking out mortgages for their suburban houses as their bases, and also Richard being a malevolent entity who sets things in motion instead of foretelling events as an angel of death
Great work! You did well with the fights, I don't expect Jacket to swing a bat and kill 4 guys instantly like in the game, so I'm glad to see the mafia put up a fight against Jacket instead of being treated as cannon fodder all the time. Was expecting a scene of him finding a dead hitman with animal mask though.
Coming back again after finishing this to say that this is incredible!!! I liked the way you gave it your own unique spin. I've always wanted a photocinematic version of the game's events, and you absolutely delivered. You've got a bright future in filmmaking, boss! I'll be rooting for you! (P.S: I will be expecting a part 2 covering at least some of HM2s events)
There’s a project called midnight forever which is based on hotline which you should definitely checkout as it’s been in development for almost 4 years now maybe more
Jesus, this thing used 300% of what its budget could manage, this is awesome. I also love the minor details, like the Ash vs. Evil Dead making a mockery of the Russians, and how Jacket pops back up when he hears the mag of the mobster drop
Most of the critique I'd have for the film is countered by its low budget and the fact that I have a different perspective on what happened in the game. I like to think that the movie portrays one of the versions of the events since Jacket is in a coma (for most of the game). I really like the melee combat scenes, they have flaws but they have a good flow and I think those scenes are one of the best in the movie. The transitory phases in which Jacket just commutes to the place of a hit are just oozing style and so far my favourite: the "masked tribunal" scenes (the scenes with Don Juan, Richard and Rasmus). I liked Frank Thibault's performance the most, his performance as Rasmus is what hooked me in to watch the movie in the first place after I saw the trailer. The animation during the credits are just a cherry on top, it makes me wish for an animated hotline miami short film.

Someone should make a custom campaign for this movie on hotline Miami 2
the quick chuckle followed by "wait a minute" moment of seeing the chicken nuggies shilled as "rat free"
When played back in slightly lower quality and at 24 fps, it gives a nice retro movie-like atmosphere.
