What GPU should you buy around the £200 area in Summer 2023 (this won't age well)
The choices are RX6600 RTX3060 and maybe the A750 or A770.
Pros and cons either way, but is the Intel platform something that will get better in time? And can it play games in 4K?
Lets find out!

I quite like the ARC cards - they have some interesting quirks, but the price to performance ratio is (IMHO) is excellent for a current generation card. I run my A770 LE 16 GB at 1440@144 hz, and it chews up most games at 100 fps+. I suppose we will see how it ages…
yeah it is a great card and hopefully as the drivers and product matures it will be a real player in the market
Added a LIKE of course as a sign of my full Support.
Yeah, strange times we live in that I'm routing for Intel to make a success of these cards. The big 2 have had it far too good for far too long.
i agree totally
I haven't bought a single Intel component since the P3 Coppermine days.
I bought and Arc 380 and 770 the day they became available.
And the A770 went from barely keeping up with an OG 6600 to now trading punches and beating 7600 7700 and 4060TI cards in quite a few games.
And it looks like there's still room in the drivers to gain even more.
Even if Battlemage isn't quite there yet, I'm still buying it, simply in the hopes Intel becomes a third competitor in the GPU space, so we finally may get some innovation and price competition going.
Interesting gpu review imo! 3 fans, zero capability, plus rgb, excellent results at 4k all considered. I paid £349 for open box RX6700XT last year and thats supposed to be a 1440p gpu. This is way better value than new 4000/7000 cards. Wonder how the lesser versions fair against say RX5700! Thanks for reviewing Mike and Kath👍
the rx6700 is about the same or slightly better in some games i would say the 6700xt beats it by a lot. it usually gets compared to 3060ti
Bless you Mike for again hi-lighting War Thunder ! Also, glad to hear you say you enjoyed it.
Great video Mike! These Intel graphics cards are actually really good now.
I will be back in your streams soon. Life has been busy 🙂
Welcome back! and see you soon
Looks like a nice card Mike.l don’t need another gpu,but if l did,l would seriously consider buying one.Thank you for sharing Mike and Kath 👏👏⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
it is worth keeping it in mind when the time comes
I bought a couple of the actual Intel Arc A750s and replaced the 1660s I had. There have been some quirks but overall I'm very pleased with the cards. One issue I have noticed is that there are some graphical oddities especially in a game like star trek online that kind of take you out of the moment. But if you can ignore the chunky blocking us around planets overall it's a pretty darn good card. I'm sure as the driver's continue to mature even that issue with star trek online will get corrected hopefully.
lucky that Intel seem to be working pretty hard on drivers so hopefully these glitches will be ironed out at some point
I'm not currently looking for a GPU but this seems like a decent card for the price and it will be interesting to see what intel's future cards (if any) will be likev. Thanks for the video.
Cheers MICK and I agree interesting to see what follows
Looks a decent card for Beginers or Budget builds £230 is a good price too Thanks Mike and Kath as always
Glad you enjoyed it
Now SPARKLE Computer are back. doing Intel Arc GPUs 😀
Great review video 👍
i remember buying sparkle cards in the very early 2000s fx5200 etc, bad fans
@@mikesunboxingTake a look at one now. more Blue than MUB HQ 😲
@@WilliamAndrewPhilipBodie
Thank you for this video, the footage really helped me to get a good look at the card. I needed to determine whether it will fit on my m-atx board without blocking all the usb and front panel connectors, and now I think it will. This is the only version of Intel Arc currently available where I live so not much choice, but I'll probably buy one soon. I have a 600W 80+ bronze PSU but it does have 48A and up to 587W on the 12V rail so it should be absolutely fine (never had any problems with my 2060 Super at 200W). Big thumbs up!
thanks and hope you like it went you get one
Wreckfest, Big O's game; brings back memories for her of her days as a truck driver...
You’re supposed to be using 2 power cords, not “daisy chaining” from 1. It’s rated over 25% more than a single cord is supposed to supply. This can either under power your card or damage your power supply.
getting clever in your wording since the linus backlash from nexus and linuses monetization apology lol then he discreetly turns monetized off , that is a nice card by the way 2cents gives it a thumbs up.
Didnt want it.....never wanted it.....bought it anyway lol. Looks a bit Sapphire Pulse-ish in design and I feel that RGB on the top of the card spoils its looks however its how it performs that matter. Judging by your review I think 230 notes its about right.....fingers crossed some further driver updates will help folk get the best out of this card, would be great to see it trading blows with the nVidia and AMD at this price point. Thanks for the video, Mike and Kath 🙂
i have it back in my main system now and compared with the RTX4070ti that was in there it seems about the same in premiere, games are a lot lower FPS but still very playable even at 4k
I have a Radeon VII that I may trade for something else, just don't know what yet. As I'm not really into gaming, I'd like a card with good compute performance, either for cad, 3d or video. But being able to game would be a pluss 😁.
Maybe I could grab an A770 to test it later.. And thank for the review. The gaming is really good enough for me. Just have to see the rest. 👍
not sure what the compute cores are like on this to be honest, but for sure in premiere it seems to do a great job
Great video thanks Mike
Glad you enjoyed it
the Sapphire Nitro+ rx6600xt also has argb header and I think my old Asus Strix 2060 had an RGB 12v header and a couple of fan headers too.
Nice review Mike, seems a good deal and only £220 on E-Buyer.
Not bad. would be good to see it at 199 i think to twist peoples arms a bit
Hi, Mike. Not a bad score on Time Spy. I got a 18,978 with my system. I'm sure I could get a higher score if I overclocked it a little. But there's really no point.
yeah i know what you mean, be happy with the performance you have
I bought this card at the beginning of the year update after update has proved to increase my value for the dollar works great.
Totally agree!
I had one of those cards, it was great just surprisingly big, too big for my case so it went
it is a big old lump
I hear you. I was looking at the A750 for that reason. But my Sapphire Radeon RX 580 Nitro is a real trooper. So just window shopping.
Nice Review Mike
Glad you enjoyed it
It is remarkable how many of the modern GPUs stay in the low 60s temp wise.
hopefully with improvements it would be nice to see passive cards again
Dude, I want to buy this card, do you really recommend it? I have a steel legend b660m and an i5 12400f or do I think it's better to buy a steel legend rx 7600 or an rtx 4060 aero?
depends on what you are doing, if you use adobe premiere the A770 is awesome, the 7600 is a good alternative though as is the 4060 depends a lot on local pricing the A770 should be considerably cheaper than both of the others
Nice job Mike, I'd be really interested to see the FPS figures on Microsoft Flight simulator 2020 when the settings are in Ultra and you are approaching a bespoke airport?
Great idea, i'll see what i can do
@@mikesunboxing That could prove very interesting if you do for many thousands of flyers. 🙂
Do you think this would be a good future proof GPU 1080 gaming run at Ultra since it has 16Gb? How does it perform in AAA game or Last of Us Part 1? Thanks!
1080 is still a great card but is getting older and driver support will be ending at some point soon. The A770 16gb would be a cracking choice at the right price. this model in the video is now under £200 in the UK
Currently £219 at ebuyer... am sorely tempted just out of curiosity, even though I already have an RTX 4070 FE
swap :-)
£229 for the 16GB version? Where?
ebuyer when i bought it
Intel Arc GPU's don't work with Dosbox. Just thought I'd warn people so you won't be disappointed if you get one. They did work with Dosbox about 4 months ago, but after driver 4676 Dosbox quit working, and for some strange reason Intel doesn't want to fix it.
thanks for the heads up on that
Just thought I'd let people know that Dosbox (original) is again working in Windows with the Arc video cards with the latest drivers 31.0.101.5186.
Would you get this over a 6700xt?
6700xt is anther £100 extra, so depends really, i probably would have to consider it
may there be a chance you to redo these test but using a 1440p resolution from ultra to high settings? I know that it would be cappable but kinda would help to compare from others reviews
yes that is possible, but with the pace of the driver updates and the performance jumps comparing videos is really hard to do
*Not a bad price*
it is reasonable
great card mike seems like mine 3060ti i dunno lil more faster than mine i dunno
it is very similar to the 3060ti more so in the higher resolutions
I'm getting the ARC Founders Edition (if you can call it that) and the RX 6700 XT for the same price. Which would you recommend in this scenario only for 1080p gaming. I don't use any emulators for games and mostly play single player titles or games like Cities Skylines & Transport Fever 2.
Amd for you
@@mikesunboxing Thank You for your prompt reply. Appreciate it 🙂
16gb is the norm for 4k. And yes A770 16gb does 4k well. Often almost maxing the VRAM. So 8gb is not really for 4k and not surprised for some of the crashes.
Have one and the answer today is Yes and quite well.
wish i had kept mine really
I'm really considering getting this model card.
How is the card regard sagging? Is the mounts and card firm enough to hold itself?
Thanks for the review :)
it really could use a support bracket, i recently filmed a video with this exact card and a very cheap support pillar for that reason
@@mikesunboxing Cheers, nice to know 😀
I'm getting support bracket at the same time when i order 👍
@@Khemore i think you are making the right decision
I just oredered it, i chose the 16gb version and found a nice bracket along with it.
So now it's just awaiting delivery... ALLWAYS painfull lmao😂
@@Khemore i regretted not getting the 16GB version to be honest
I wish to use the ARC 750 graphics card for a setup involving three 4K monitors (3840X2160) for a trading PC. I do not intend to use it for gaming. Will it work well with my i5 14500 processor and MSI Pro B760M A DDR5 motherboard? I also plan to add another 4K monitor later. Will this graphics card be able to handle that without any issues? My alternative options are the NVIDIA T600 graphics card or a T1000. For comparison, I am getting them at the following prices in India - ARC750 8GB at INR 21199; T1000 4GB at INR 24900; T1000 8GB at INR 30600. I do not wish to spend more money than necessary to run my setup. As the ARC750 8GB is the cheapest option, I would really appreciate some recommendations.
i would run one or two monitors from the onboard graphics and the other 2 or 3 from the GPU
Asrock gave nvidia the finger!!!
and i for one am glad
The only drawback is the lack of VR support for Steam VR games. They need to work with Meta and Steam for VR, and not sure if these will pan out well for machine learning applications like Nvidia which still ranks the best. But for basic gamers who dont rely on those, this is a good budget GPU for the price and graphics. Nvidia better step up their game for their overpriced 8GB VRam cards at twice the price and start offering 16GB VRam minimum.
This should be a good one....
Hi mike, with this card being slightly cheaper than rx7600 and a similar price to the 6650xt what would you recommend for a £250 budget for a gpu purely for gaming?
tough call really, the Intel a770 is really good and has great RT performance if that is something you like in games, otherwise i would likely go down the amd 6660xt route
@@mikesunboxing cheers Mike! The a770 is really tempting me atm just as something different. If it drops anymore in price on ebuyer I might have to have it
@mikesunboxing better this or the 7600 oc 8gb version? I found them at the same price
770 is likely faster in most cases
Is the card stable?
i had the 770 Arc, pc crasht
Yes seems a lot better than I expected
How do you think this would do with a ryzen 5500 , 32 gigs of ballistix @ 3200 on an asus rog strix b-450 gaming 1 ? and thank you for your time and the video. Oh and the display is 55 inch 4k mini led quantom dot . and thank you again .
it won't be great with a B450 and 5500, those are both limited to PCIe gen3 so that is going to hurt performance
@@mikesunboxing that's what i was afraid of thank you
That is the ONLY intel ARC A770 GPU commonly available in aust. that isn't Intel branded $339.00 AUD (Incl. GST) == 185 GBP (incl. VAT) so a lot cheaper than UK pricing..
Just dropped to £219 here which is good for everyone else who wants to get one , not so great for those that got in early
I plan to get 13600k, 32GB RAM asrock bi frost A770 version, unless next high end AM5 APU desktop version will be a monster ( for 1080p, stable 60 fps. 1080p exclusively. It's on sale currently on sale for 400€ with 25% tax included. Is that a decent price ? Or should I bite bullet, and get 4070 for 750€ (25% tax included ) ?
4070 is quite a big jump, i think you will mostly be pretty happy with the A770 just don't pay over the odds, 400 euros seems steep, but depends on the country
@@mikesunboxing it's Croatia, and yes even 400€ is steep. I would like to avoid dedicated GPU if possible, but if not then I'll have to spend around 700€ for mid tier GPU that can last me on 1080p monitor for couple of year's (3-6). + Retailers here are too greedy.
What is this the equivalent too?
that is the question, and it depends what you are doing or playing. it is somewhere between the RTX3060 and RTX3070
Somebody have this card, i bought it and rpm are 3700rpm alltime 30 degrees 15w, something is wrong
Check out the driver install guide we did
Worth the extra 100 for a 4060 ti you think Mike?
if the Ti was under £300 i would go with it
Ya if your playing VR games and AI applications Nvidia is worth it. If you dont need those, then Arc for basic gaming and video playback.
(16:14 Mike takes a sip 😝)
gotta stay hydrated :-)
i was hoping you'd say " arse" dang. VERRRY Dissapointed.
sorry
Rolex?
olevs sadly
Hi.Which is better to take amd6600 or 770 intel?
770 is faster
