There is actually a much easier way to make SO2, just by dripping HCl into a sodium thiosulfate solution (although use dilute HCl so the SO2 isn't contaminated with HCl vapors
Hmm.. I think it is actually an H2SO4 solution. Wikipedia says that H2SO3 doesn't exist in solution (also H2SO3 in the gas phase is readily oxidized to H2SO4 as well). Of course, wikipedia isn't always right. DId you follow a preparation procedure for this reaction?
TheChemistryShack Yes, I did follow a preparation procedure, in which they said that there was mostly H2SO3 produced, but of course it´s true that a bit of it reacts to sufuric acid :)
I really like your videos becoming more professional and that it's always really interesting to watch. :D. Before you are wondering, this is my 2nd acc with whom is use RUclips privately. keep it up! - greetings Bene
I am making sulfuric acid by the oxidation of So2 with Vanadium (V) oxide, ofcourse, some sulfurous acid will be formed, the wiki says its instable, how Do I make it decompose/remove it from the solution?
@@davemwangi05 nitrous oxide also forms poisonous nitrogen dioxide on contact with oxygen in the air. Are you sure that you want to be inhaling that? 😜

Natural Science Oh ok so it's a mixture of the two acids

Haha thanks, good to know :D
Natural Science :D
How is saturated h2so3 produced?
1 liter H2O3 = 1540 g
Can 1 liter of H2SO3 = 800 grams of sulfur?
I want to make it, but I don’t have the ingredients.☹️
You can't get sulfur or water? 🤔🤨

bring the solution to 120° or less, do in well ventilated area
I made it by burning sulfur in a sealed jar and pouring in some water.
did you faint due to the toxic gas? I heard that everbody who does this faints for a minute and then wakes up with crossed eyes.
@@davemwangi05 I didn't inhale alot of it. I felt a little in my throat but nothing severe.
@@vxbrxnt No I was just kidding. Maybe you should try in haling some nitrogen oxide. I did and it was fun.

Add HCl to the iron pyrite...
that makes HYDROGEN SULFIDE, not Sulfur dioxide
@@uxleumas Shhh... let him find that out lol
@@TheHuntermj as a chemist, I'm sure he already knows that. Lol!
Pyrite is actually FeS2 rather than FeS
I love your accent :)
TheChemistryShack And I hate it XD
Natural Science lol
