Thank you for this. Im a graphic designer and Im making a cutting board for someones wedding and its being laser cut in another office, so its great to hear from a professional if I'm doing this to the standard they need it done
Great how-to video. I've used Illustrator for two years and still learned a few things. I am, however, a beginner using a laser. I'm curious about what file type you saved to import into laser software. Would I be saving as SVG?
Hi, awesome video. I noticed that you didnt change the width. Do you have to change the width to 0.01pt or will it cut fine/ cleanly with the setting of 0.1pt?
Making a prototype for my brother in law's boardgame as a Christmas gift for him. Came here to find out how to actually do it in some maker space. Bonus: you're a very compelling person
Thank you for this info. I will be watching soon. I was interested in your Beauty and the Bolt makerspaces map, but it seems the website is not active? Has that been updated or am i just missing something. thank you!
I don't do well trying to listen to someone who talks as quickly as you; it's not a good teaching style. So, I must replay your presentation many times to get what you say. Almost two minutes of the presentation wastes time, as you are not demonstrating "Laser Cutting 101!" Try to be calm and slow down - it helps others and does not diminish what you think of yourself.
You literally skipped the most important part of why I'm here and it's the steps you'd take from illustrator to the laser cutter. Without that this was a wasted 10 minutes.

Have you got a video where you then send it to your laser?
What file type do you save as? .svg?
Can you tell Ai, where to start on the cut? If I want to start on the outside or inside of the part?
I loved this, I am a complete beginner and you made it seem easy.
How do you export this to the laser cutter?

Omg neat but you forgot the most important part how did do the laser cutting part?
Yes, very easy to learn from you. Thank You! I've used Photoshop for years but never Illustrator for vector images.
did you had to edit the line colors to RGB prior to sending the file for laser cut ?
Video starts at 3 min mark!
The makerspace-map url now redirects to "our-vision". Is the map still around?
Hi, could it be that the makerspace map is gone?

Very cool! And I somehow didn't know about the Pathfinder > Unite tip! Thank you!!
You're most welcome!
Also after I published this video I realized it's avengers assemble not avengers unite and I was very bummed.
How do you save the doc
Glad to see this. Wish more videos were dedicated to AI rather than Corel. AI is SOOO much easier to learn and logical to use.
how do you make your laser engraver cut/engrave the shapes you made on Ai?
Will this work for any laser ?? An epilog fusion edge 12 ?
How do you get AI to communicate to your laser? Is there an extension or plug in or driver?
Export the format your laser cutter software needs :-)
Offset path would've helped with the inner part :) (great video though)
Would be great to show how to save as DFX file
Thanks for sharing. We just picked up a glowforge laser and are beginning to design our new products.

Amazing video!
Thank you. Hope you keep posting vids as they are always helpful and entertaining.❤️❤️❤️👍😊
What did you use as a backer for your epoxy ornament? Thanks for the pathfinder unite tip too!
Love it
Very cool, thanks!
what a gorgeous smile, what a doll...
Very informative and fascinating. Thank you❤
Absolutely love this video! I’ve been using a trial version of CorelDraw and not liking. Now seriously considering looking at AI.
I noticed the map zoomed in on cleveland. Are you in the cleveland area by any chance!?
"purchased merchandise" a 4 piece boy band back in the seventies. Did mostly blues stuff.
Thank you
thank you! super helpful :)
👍💕
waste of time
please show how you process this into the machine these things all of us know how to make those
more like a sales site than instructional. Way too fast for beginners. More spam than needed.
I'm sorry, but for someone that has used Illustrator for years, you sure made the tree harder that it should be and your lines don't meet up.
