You should add some native creek fish like white suckers or northern hognose suckers into the new pond, especially the waterfall areas. They would help remove parasites and pests from the rocks and water and also are good forage for the trout and bass. They also make MASSIVE schools with other minnow species too!!

The crow was using the sand as grit for his gizzard. They use it to help digest their food
It would be REALLY cool to see some other species of trout in both of those ponds! Brown, Brook, Tiger, Bull, and Cutthroat, Splake trout are all cool options! I have noticed that Lake Trout like to stay further deep so maybe if you choose those place them in the larger pond.

Your pond is looking more and more natural. The shores are settling and changing. Can't see the tire tracks from the heavy equipment anymore. The animals are settling. The fish are reproducing. Amazing!! Man made nature
For the rainbow trout, I think it’d be cool to name them Aurora and Borealis. Makes them a pair and draws attention to their shimmering colors. 14:04

Cant tell you how much i love seeing Trout in your pond. Watching from Utah & giving your trout all the cold creek vibes they could want.

I live in New York and thought I saw a Bobcat on my property just last week, turns out it was a Gehl.

For sure add the Smallmouth! Would definitely make the ponds complete. Smallies are so awesome and fun to catch.
cant have a successful pond with largemouth and smallmouth, also smallmouth dont reproduce nor thrive in ponds.. its why largemouths are so popular and common.
All that fruit is too good for the trash Pandas .
@Indysippi we have ponds down here in Arizona and they thrive pretty well together. Spawn just as normal as the largies in the ponds. Our smallmouth spawning as we speak actually.

Sherlock and Watson would be great names for the two baby bass since they joined up pretty quick to investigate their new pond. Awesome video as always.
Adam, I used to have a cnc mold maker and loved watching him turn out one-off sample molds. He had a blue hard wax he used to test his programs. This way, he did not waste material, damage custom cutters, or machinery. You should look into it. Just a suggestion. Love watching you and miss watching my mold maker. (4140 aluminum).

Those Rainbow Trout’s and Bass on the small pond will be easy target’s for those eagles.
Yesss a small mouth bass would be insaneeee down south 🔥🔥they can be aggressive too the look like literal foot balls then at 6lbs and try worms for the trout

I'd be honored if you named a trout Big John. My grandpa's name was John and at 6'4" tall he rightfully earned the nickname Big John. He taught me to trout fish when I was a kid and we caught so many rainbow trout out of the lakes in Utah. Unfortunately he passed almost a year ago, but I'm now passing on what he taught me to my kids.

Those two younger bass on patrol in the new pond - looking like Starsky and Hutch!
We refurbished and enlarged our pond 2yrs ago. Plenty of minnows and natural bait and we added dozens of large bluegill that have spawned frequently. We added 4 largemouth last year from nearby Sam Rayburn. I was recently amazed at all the bass I'm seeing in the pond, all about the size of the little ones you're catching.

I have become addicted to watching your pond updates, it’s been amazing watching this ecosystem grow! I can’t think of any names for the two new bass, but given the trout love the shallow areas of the pond and the “cedar falls”, I think they should be named Cedar and Oak! Happy new year!

Man it’s awesome to see Rainbow trout stocked in an Alabama pond. You don’t see that very often! Figured I’d put in a name request for the two bass that you put in the small pond too. My vote is for Jack and Rose (from the Titanic). With it being winter and stocked in a cold pond, I figured it was fitting :) Either way thank you for the continued enjoyment with the videos!
Love your content I watch every episode of the pond story! I do a lot of trout fishing and if you’re looking for a new lure to try, check out pistol Pete’s. They work great and are easy for kids to fish too. They require a bubble bobber when fishing a spinning rod but are worth learning!

Yes good idea. Rainbows and smallmouth bass are in alot of ponds in my area together. Both are fun to catch and good to eat. You may need to keep that new pond cool in the summer time to keep both of those species alive in the south's warmer climate, just a guess on my part.
Awesome, especially with the eagles. Btw, you should cover the edges of those water lily plastic buckets so it looks more natural now that the water is clear. Also move the cable covering that small solar panel, it will actually greatly reduce it's efficiency.

I think it would be an interesting project for you to develop a few acres of native wildflower and grasses habitat. It would definitely add to the biodiversity in plants, animals, insects and birds you are looking for.

Those trout are going to boil in the new shallow pond during the summer! Not sure how much planting some thick trees will help keep the water cool, but you should consider it or they won’t stand a chance
Agreed, trout need fast, cold water and the big pond is gonna end up getting way too hot during the summer. Cedar falls will be better since there's a cave and moving water, but it'll still be pretty hot. If you want a good trout habitat, base it off of areas like the south toe river in NC. Lots of big overhanging boulders, fast and cold water with lots of shade from rhododendron trees. Could even put some smallmouth, rock bass, and suckers to mimic the south toe and french broad river.
You should build a small cabin out house right there, so you can put all the electronics inside, that way you can have it all out of the weather. Like a rustic cabin theme.

What a fantastic video to finish the year off. I have had my share of self-made ponds and never realize what it takes to do the job properly. It would have kept me from all the water change I routinely did on a weekly basis. Your videos captures so many interesting nature’s behavior that most people wouldn’t be aware off. I switched from keeping pet bass to pet turtles caught from my favorite fishing spots. I have named 2 of my 6 Red Eared Slider turtles Romeo and Juliet because of their behavior with each other. That my suggestion. All the best to you and your family in the new year.
