Well, It took more then 10 years to get to this point, but were finally here. After watching Zero Punctuation since 07 when I was in high school, he finally took a wee on something I worked on (art wise). The mix of emotion can be best described as the one you would get if you were to release your pet out in the wild and then watch it be immediately savaged by a group of wild hounds while you watch on mournfully rubbing yourself.
Just wanted to drop in and say I agree with Skylines. I recently nabbed a Ps5 after playing PC for several years and saw Days Gone was free so I grabbed it. I didn’t expect much after the reviews but I absolutely LOVED this game. Sure, there are some awkward hiccups when it comes to some things - mainly dialogue based - but overall it’s just such a good game that I had slept on since release. I would gladly pay for this game, and feel like it was a steal for it to be part of the PS+ collection. You contributed to a fantastic game.

Lets be honest, this is the most bland game I’ve seen this year so far. At least rage 2 is colorful and has decent combat. Anthem has the Bethesda problem of having every “patch” break the game in a slightly different way. Days Gone is simply functional. From what I’ve heard it doesn’t have anything particularly offensive about it, and every game mechanic simply works as expected with nothing particularly noteworthy about it. Set in the most over used “post apocalyptic zombie game” setting, and also its an open world game. To be perfectly honest I think it trumps all the bland games from last year too.
I like to think that in the zombie apocalypse Yahtzee would be the one selling all the ammo and he'll be telling a lot of people "you're not getting any ammo, your personality needs work".
Crunch is the means by which publishers press insane deadlines and destroy the well-being (read: capacity to exercise creativity or produce quality) of already overworked game developers so their burnt out remains can be shoveled out in the cold like pieces of trash and a fresh pack of eager, doe-eyed youngsters funnelled in to slave away at the next big triple A title, without all that pesky experience or training or competence of course.
Let this be a warning to you, parents. If you name your kid Jeffrey Cuddletrousers, bad things may happen and it will probably be at least partly your fault.
I have this theory that the Jedi are constantly jacking off using the force. Like when luke is looking at lea he is secretly jacking it. We wouldn't know because they wear robes all the time .also they could jack others off as well .this theory would also explain anikins birth cause we don't know who his father maybe it was Jedi who put his jizz inside his mother to impregnate her

Division 2 was also a sequel to XCOM: EW focused on fighting splinter Exalt cells. Dunno why they scrubbed the xenos though, would have made the game much more interesting. Maybe they were off prepping the invasion force.

Maybe that's correct, too, but Yahtzee definitely did not forget an "of", the phrasing is 100 % correct this way. Besides, it is completely ridiculous we're both wasting our time on a three year old comment of yours that was basically just saying "This.". Have a nice day.
The thing that bothers me about this sort of dialogue is that people don't use um and stuff that much in conversation. It usually only comes up when that person is the only one talking, especially to a group, because they feel a subconscious need to fill space to maintain attention. People don't normally talk that way so people need to stop pretending it's "realistic".

@@droylajarhirthefelinethief81 Writing is a naturally slower method of communication than speaking is. I find that when I talk, I'm thinking a few words ahead but when I write, I'm thinking a sentence or so ahead in terms of word choice. Writing also allows for you to pause for longer periods of time to select a word without it feeling strange to you. It likely takes you a similar amount of time to select the germane word or phrase when writing, but the decreased time pressure from having more time to think about what word to use makes it feel shorter when writing. People, myself included, do sometimes have trouble coming up with what to say and write next, but it isn't nearly as common as this type of writing makes it out to be. If I may offer some unsolicited advice, if you want to reduce space filling utterances from your speech, slow down your cadence until you can comfortably talk without being at a loss for words and then slowly speed back up over the course of a few weeks, staying at a set speed each week until you can talk at that speed without saying um. Think of it like resistance training.
Dev: How many AAA game mechanics can we put in a single AAA zombie game? This is basically what this game amounted to. They couldn't stick with one coherent theme so they just mix and match as much AAA game mechanics as much as humanly possible and hope for the best.

As generic and uninspiring a silent protagonist is they are better than bland or annoying ones coz you can forget them. Unless were talking about the doomguy from 2016, he might be silent but he has more personality than some RPG love interests and controlling him is less like embodying a crowbar wielding scientist and more like being in the cockpit of a crashing plane, you are technically in control. But you can only adjust the course, the plane is still going to crash.
Your standard silent protagonist when instructed by a probably shady robot man to deactivate a satan-powered reactor canister follows the orders blandly and with no objection. Doomguy pauses while the robot man talks, feels up the canister to get a good feel for it, and kicks the fucking thing into broken glass and torn metal.

Besides, it got a fair and average metacritic score, contrary to the same fanboys slamming God of war (game of the year) because it was exclusive. Even if it is the weakest in their lineup (No man's sky doesn't count) it's hardly the worst *cough* state of decay and the walking dead Game *cough*. Everyone is pretty much waiting for the last of us 2 which is one of the freshest takes on a zombie/ technically not a zombie apocalypse, and which is the best Sony have to show (another game of the year winning game). It's nowhere near state of decay bad because I honestly think no amount of teraflops, xbot fanboyisms and hyperbole with make that game look current gen or play like something released that year.

Instead, I got emo Kratos who also happens to be a terrible dad along with his son. I never played GoW games to find an enriching story, I played them to see brutal deaths of massive creatures. I don't know what game was made, but it certainly wasn't a GoW.
@@dimitrisg45 personally I think it's an okay game. Has a few problems here and there. Like the story is the greatest, the world feels empty, enemies are spread out to much. But I love traveling by bike, the mele combat, the stealth. I think if the people put more effort and time into i would have enjoyed it more
Yahtzee isn’t wrong with any of his observations, but I’m still having a good time anyway. It’s a good game to potter about in for an hour or two every few days and not every game has to offer lasting memories or a reinvent the wheel.
Agreed, I've been having fun playing it, and there actually were some memorable moments for me, like this one part where I was trying to break into one of those government checkpoint buildings when a huge horde came by so I wound up climbing up on top of the building and hiding behind a short wall while I waited for them to pass. I just like how you have hordes that seem to randomly wander the worldspace. It kinda makes everything feel a little bit more alive.
I liked it. And to be fair there is the third option with hordes to carefully and methodically destroy it. But I never had a hope so never tried until a later part blocked my path with one and I was stuck forever. Still I liked it until that area in general. You tactfully avoided spoiling the area I speak of, but difficulty spiked, locations depressed, and the main story... Took a turn that mostly removed what I enjoyed about it.
I played this game because it came out on PS Plus, and listening to this review feels really gratifying. Because I had no way of explaining how I felt about this game, and Yahzee does it perfectly. Painfully generic is perfect, I just can't express how much of a waste of time this whole thing felt like, despite it being a mostly well made game. It's one of those games that I will forever wish to know what happened during the development where, like yahzee says, there are all these potentially cool or interesting ideas and gameplay elements but no focus. I am so happy to hear this review. It's like all my frustration feels justified, because it's not just me.
I am extremely late to the party and just finished it. It's amazing how all the 3 year old comments are mostly negative, then most of the ones in the last year are mostly positive. Death Stranding had this too, with at release being generally panned and a couple years later people praise it. I thought it was great, with fantastic voice acting (in the cut scenes), and pretty decent gameplay and interweaving stories.
"The man who is less sparkling company than the top half of a mangled squirrel trying to drag itself off the road" is the quote I now need to find time and a relevant situation for in my life. Bravo, sir, bravo.
considering he says that all you do with hordes is run away from them, and i've now killed four of them and its the most intense, satisfying, and fun part of the game, i feel like maybe (and this is also bad game design, but of a different kind) Yahtzee didn't quite make the connection that you were supposed to start killing them after you got all upgraded properly. they make it really clear that you have to run away from them, at the beginning, but there's a late game level where they really drive the point home that the hordes are killable, and he mumbles something about killing all of them under his breath a few times, which i think is a late game achievement. its even on the "stuff to do" list in the area hover menu along with the other collectibles.
there's a fight where you have to kill an entire horde while trapped under a cave that makes the whole lighting system just SING. fighting in the dark, the pile of zombies closing in on you, the focus slowing time, every time you fire your gun the muzzle flash blanks the screen and takes a second to come back and the zombies are that much closer... its fucking intense.
You forget to add that Deacon jump from 5 to 100 when dealing with Reapers. In normal game "Mhh you go this way" or "This could be useful" to "How about I leave here bleed up to make all nearby Fricks happy" in a matter of seconds.
It had potential, but there were two big problems: 1- its trying way too hard to be The Last Of Us 2- the motorbikes have really bad handling, like driving a boat. Which isn’t ideal in a game that uses motorbikes as the main method of traversal.
Well, I recently finished the game, so allow me to share my two cents: I read that the game was supposed to be influenced by your decisions and that this mechanic was partially already implemented, but thet angle was dropped for a coherent story. This really shows, because you can see where those decisions would have been, or how if you wouldn´t have done something specific it could have affected the rest of the world and story. But because they left it out, you can feel a bit railroaded at these instances by having our constantly-wet-for-a-few-weeks-now washcloath of a protagonist make kind of stupid decisions just because of "story development" or being rude and grumpy to the people HE wants something from. The combat is easy, I played the game on "hard" and that description was only accurate for the first 2 hours of the game. Not even the hordes pose a serious threat once you have a proper amount of consumable weapons and an automatic rifle. But the world does look pretty good, and dealing with the harder enemies and a larger amount of "swarmers" can be fun if you like outmaneuvering your opponents. Plus the flashback scenes of Deacon and Sarah are enjoyable. Tl;dr : Painfully generic is pretty accurate, but it´s nothing insulting and can easily kill a few evenings if you have nothing else to do.
Yahtzee, You have the uncanny ability to make every video of yours original without losing your comedic touch. You do not re use the same jokes, but you use the same funny concepts over and over in fresh and in original ways. You're brilliant.
Yahtzee: **explains the general plot of Days Gone** Me: When is Yahtzee going to do a Zero Punctuation of Asura's Wrath, so I can smoke a bowl and laugh about how hilarious it is because Yahtzee is awesome and I love his Zero Punctuations.
The only one that I found came close was State of Decay. Tough at first but once your characters have leveled up then theres no more difficulty to it. Becomes monotonous.
@@frozen-curmudgeon I would say the perfect combination of games would be State of Decay and Days Gone.......I quite enjoyed the story of Days Gone, and the open world environment......but I could do with State of Decay's camps.
@@olsongc8422 SODs camps and the fact you can lose your character/group member forever if not managed properly gives it that little extra as opposed to just killing and healing one character. If SOD breakdown had a steeper progression it would have been brilliant.
I will admit, Dying Light is the best of the bunch. But it still doesn't scratch that itch. Looking forward to Dying Light 2 though. That's one game I'm really hopeful for.
The one thing I dig as a rider of motorcycles, is a post apocalypse community where bikers are the main form of transportation. The safest method? Fuck no, the economic solution? Absolutely.
would have been infinitely more enjoyable had it been a football simulator. have to construct goalie nets while avoiding zombies, have to set up defenses so the field stays clear of zombies, have to find people to play soccer with, etc.
“It’s filled with hordes who you either run away from or you die” I mean, no. Fighting the hordes leads to some of the most organic and interesting moments of the whole game. Plus you have to defeat several to complete the campaign so I’m suspicious of that “40 hours” of gameplay claim Yahtttzz 🤔🤔🤔
Yeah, I don't think Yahtzee actually played it that long. Also, 40 hours isn't enough to do everything in the story, unless you're rushing it, and Yahtzee sure sounds rushin' here.
I'm guessing not a lot of people in the comment section have played the game. Nobody is calling out that Yahtzee clearly didn't fight any hordes (at least successfully), which is one of the most exciting and tense moments in the game. You absolutely will die if you don't go in prepared, but you can destroy them. The first horde the game forces you across is only 50 strong, and it still took everything I had to wipe it out. Since then I've seen hordes as large as 300+, which I don't yet have the resources to deal with. Ultimately, though, your enjoyment of the game will boil down to how much you like stealth gameplay and riding a motorcycle around typical Oregon countryside, since this is most of what you do. Not surprised Yahtzee didn't find it very exciting :p
As much as I love Yahtzee shitting on games, I just finished Days Gone...and it was great, even amazing I would say. I liked Deacon as a character, motorcycle driving around Oregon is great and the zombie horde fighting here was one of the best gameplay experiences I had in years. I really recommend trying it out.
Can I just point out that this game mechanic of needing fuel for your vehicle but fuel is a scarce resources you need to organically explore the environment for was also done in 2015's Mad Max the Video Game?

@Sebastian Orthwaller alright let’s go over these “cardboard cutouts” as you call them and then compare them to deacon FYI I’m heavily summarizing so if you actually want the entire lore go and read up on it Master chief is a soldier who was abducted at the age of six (because of his superior genetics) to participate in an experimental super soldier program to help earth and the United Nations Space Command keep control of its outer colonies who had started to rebel but the covenant soon appeared and attempted to exterminate humanity and so humanity had to fight a losing war against a technologically advanced conglomerate of Alien species. (I’ll keep this short because I would run out the word allowance if I actually tried to summarize the entirety of halo’s lore) and so humanities only hope is for their spartan program and master chief specifically, so he goes on a series of campaigns that take him to ancient alien installations and distant world which culminates in him defeating both the covenant and an ancient alien infection that mostly wiped out the builders of those ancient alien installations. The Doomslayer starts his story as a space marine that was left behind by his comrades and has to singlehandedly slay and entire army of hell and even venture into it hell itself before saving mars, it’s moons and even the earth itself before resigning himself to an endless war on hell and diving into its depths. He then dimension hops and ends up in the Doom 2016/eternal universe and ends up marooned on the home world of the sentinels at which point he joins their ranks and becomes their mightiest warrior before a great rift is brought in them between the hell backed makyrs who want to sacrifice the innocent for argent energy and the sentinel loyalists who the slayer sides with as well as the makyr father”s chief advisor who gives the slayer godly powers in order to help him in his eternal crusade against the demons and their dark lord which eventually leads to him having a temple the size of a small city dropped on him and him being trapped in a cursed sarcophagus which was only just able to hold him in and in a deep sleep until he was eventually uncovered by humanity and woken up at which point he rampages across the surface of Mars and hell once again attempting to close any and all access to and from hell in order to save the earth and humanity (who as a footnote is currently going through a power crisis and so the UAC which was lead by the advisor who disguised himself as a cyborg named Samuel Hayden and an AI named VEGA who was the makyr father, uncovered argent energy but also opened a lot of portals to hell). The slayer then kills the one responsible for letting the demons take hold and then gets betrayed by Samuel Hayden and cast into hell. And then in doom eternal the slayer saves earth and destroys hell and the makyr homeworld because they would sacrifice civilizations for argent energy, then he goes on and defeat the dark lord who is a way older version of himself who fell to the darkness and in a twist created the father, the makyrs and everyone else pretty much. And while pretty 2D the emo at least has some damn goals beyond going from point A to point B and surviving Deacon St. John literally has no goals beyond going from point A to point B and surviving.
My dad said that one of his High School friends worked on this game, and I just really hope that this friend at least had some good ideas that were trashed during development.
To be bluntly honest, Yahtz, Deacon is in classic depression and emotional exhaustion. Pardon the snark, but: I can't imagine why. Civilization has fallen, his wife's missing and presumed dead, and he mainly has to work with two sterling representatives of humanity: A jumped-up Truther and a former prison matron who runs a work camp. Yeah, I can't imagine why he'd be so upset...
Frustrating when you run a search for Days Gone saying "Hey isn't Days Gone just another zombie game" Followed by 8 articles saying why its not just another zombie game.....despite being just another zombie game.
I actually really loved the game and the characters and people go on about the zombie or zombie like genre being over played but it really isn't especially not today the last big zombie game we got was dying light.if not counting world war z In my opinion days gone beginning adds nothing but late like 2 hours in it gets so good and more you play it the more it really does get more and more unique and interesting. No Mateer what people say this is currently mu favourite games of the last few years and I've play red dead (also liked it alot) and alot of other triple a games
Idk man. I picked up this game about 8months after it was released and it was such an amazing experience. (I guess all the bugs have been ironed out at this point) the only thing that held this game from being a 10 out of 10 was the first 20hrs of the story… after that point i was hooked! I have it a solid 8/10
You should give it a shot. It's one of those games that ends up being more than the sum of its parts. I don't necessarily disagree with any of the criticism I've seen of it and yet I oddly really enjoyed it for what it was. Played a good 35 hours of it and had a good time.

The thing that bothers me about this sort of dialogue is that people don't use um and stuff that much in conversation. It usually only comes up when that person is the only one talking, especially to a group, because they feel a subconscious need to fill space to maintain attention. People don't normally talk that way so people need to stop pretending it's "realistic".

I find that when I talk, I'm thinking a few words ahead but when I write, I'm thinking a sentence or so ahead in terms of word choice. Writing also allows for you to pause for longer periods of time to select a word without it feeling strange to you. It likely takes you a similar amount of time to select the germane word or phrase when writing, but the decreased time pressure from having more time to think about what word to use makes it feel shorter when writing. People, myself included, do sometimes have trouble coming up with what to say and write next, but it isn't nearly as common as this type of writing makes it out to be.
If I may offer some unsolicited advice, if you want to reduce space filling utterances from your speech, slow down your cadence until you can comfortably talk without being at a loss for words and then slowly speed back up over the course of a few weeks, staying at a set speed each week until you can talk at that speed without saying um. Think of it like resistance training.

This is basically what this game amounted to. They couldn't stick with one coherent theme so they just mix and match as much AAA game mechanics as much as humanly possible and hope for the best.
So basically it's The Last Of Us meets Breath Of The Wild starring Aiden Pearce with the loading times of Sonic '06. Got it.

As generic and uninspiring a silent protagonist is they are better than bland or annoying ones coz you can forget them.
Unless were talking about the doomguy from 2016, he might be silent but he has more personality than some RPG love interests and controlling him is less like embodying a crowbar wielding scientist and more like being in the cockpit of a crashing plane, you are technically in control. But you can only adjust the course, the plane is still going to crash.
Your standard silent protagonist when instructed by a probably shady robot man to deactivate a satan-powered reactor canister follows the orders blandly and with no objection. Doomguy pauses while the robot man talks, feels up the canister to get a good feel for it, and kicks the fucking thing into broken glass and torn metal.

Besides, it got a fair and average metacritic score, contrary to the same fanboys slamming God of war (game of the year) because it was exclusive. Even if it is the weakest in their lineup (No man's sky doesn't count) it's hardly the worst *cough* state of decay and the walking dead Game *cough*.
Everyone is pretty much waiting for the last of us 2 which is one of the freshest takes on a zombie/ technically not a zombie apocalypse, and which is the best Sony have to show (another game of the year winning game). It's nowhere near state of decay bad because I honestly think no amount of teraflops, xbot fanboyisms and hyperbole with make that game look current gen or play like something released that year.

I don't know what game was made, but it certainly wasn't a GoW.

But I love traveling by bike, the mele combat, the stealth. I think if the people put more effort and time into i would have enjoyed it more

Yahtzee isn’t wrong with any of his observations, but I’m still having a good time anyway.
It’s a good game to potter about in for an hour or two every few days and not every game has to offer lasting memories or a reinvent the wheel.
Agreed, I've been having fun playing it, and there actually were some memorable moments for me, like this one part where I was trying to break into one of those government checkpoint buildings when a huge horde came by so I wound up climbing up on top of the building and hiding behind a short wall while I waited for them to pass. I just like how you have hordes that seem to randomly wander the worldspace. It kinda makes everything feel a little bit more alive.

I liked it. And to be fair there is the third option with hordes to carefully and methodically destroy it. But I never had a hope so never tried until a later part blocked my path with one and I was stuck forever. Still I liked it until that area in general. You tactfully avoided spoiling the area I speak of, but difficulty spiked, locations depressed, and the main story... Took a turn that mostly removed what I enjoyed about it.
I'd play a game about a knife-wielding Goomba. Not that Nintendo would have the guts to do it.
I played this game because it came out on PS Plus, and listening to this review feels really gratifying. Because I had no way of explaining how I felt about this game, and Yahzee does it perfectly. Painfully generic is perfect, I just can't express how much of a waste of time this whole thing felt like, despite it being a mostly well made game. It's one of those games that I will forever wish to know what happened during the development where, like yahzee says, there are all these potentially cool or interesting ideas and gameplay elements but no focus.
I am so happy to hear this review. It's like all my frustration feels justified, because it's not just me.

I am extremely late to the party and just finished it.
It's amazing how all the 3 year old comments are mostly negative, then most of the ones in the last year are mostly positive. Death Stranding had this too, with at release being generally panned and a couple years later people praise it.
I thought it was great, with fantastic voice acting (in the cut scenes), and pretty decent gameplay and interweaving stories.

I think replacing the writer with someone who's heard of fun would improve the quality a fair bit
considering he says that all you do with hordes is run away from them, and i've now killed four of them and its the most intense, satisfying, and fun part of the game, i feel like maybe (and this is also bad game design, but of a different kind) Yahtzee didn't quite make the connection that you were supposed to start killing them after you got all upgraded properly. they make it really clear that you have to run away from them, at the beginning, but there's a late game level where they really drive the point home that the hordes are killable, and he mumbles something about killing all of them under his breath a few times, which i think is a late game achievement. its even on the "stuff to do" list in the area hover menu along with the other collectibles.
there's a fight where you have to kill an entire horde while trapped under a cave that makes the whole lighting system just SING. fighting in the dark, the pile of zombies closing in on you, the focus slowing time, every time you fire your gun the muzzle flash blanks the screen and takes a second to come back and the zombies are that much closer... its fucking intense.
Yahtzee said "Deacon St. John" so much that my mind wandered and invented a better version of the game where Deacon is voiced by Jon St. John.

Best part about these is that sometimes I love the games, but I can't disagree with your points.
You forget to add that Deacon jump from 5 to 100 when dealing with Reapers. In normal game "Mhh you go this way" or "This could be useful" to "How about I leave here bleed up to make all nearby Fricks happy" in a matter of seconds.
It had potential, but there were two big problems:
1- its trying way too hard to be The Last Of Us
2- the motorbikes have really bad handling, like driving a boat. Which isn’t ideal in a game that uses motorbikes as the main method of traversal.

I actually thought Days Gone was amazing and I like Deacon.
Well, I recently finished the game, so allow me to share my two cents:
I read that the game was supposed to be influenced by your decisions and that this mechanic was partially already implemented, but thet angle was dropped for a coherent story. This really shows, because you can see where those decisions would have been, or how if you wouldn´t have done something specific it could have affected the rest of the world and story. But because they left it out, you can feel a bit railroaded at these instances by having our constantly-wet-for-a-few-weeks-now washcloath of a protagonist make kind of stupid decisions just because of "story development" or being rude and grumpy to the people HE wants something from. The combat is easy, I played the game on "hard" and that description was only accurate for the first 2 hours of the game. Not even the hordes pose a serious threat once you have a proper amount of consumable weapons and an automatic rifle. But the world does look pretty good, and dealing with the harder enemies and a larger amount of "swarmers" can be fun if you like outmaneuvering your opponents. Plus the flashback scenes of Deacon and Sarah are enjoyable.
Tl;dr : Painfully generic is pretty accurate, but it´s nothing insulting and can easily kill a few evenings if you have nothing else to do.
Days Gone is a great game.

I'm not actually tired of zombie apocalypse survival games (for some reason). I'm just waiting for someone to do one RIGHT.
The only one that I found came close was State of Decay. Tough at first but once your characters have leveled up then theres no more difficulty to it. Becomes monotonous.

@@olsongc8422 SODs camps and the fact you can lose your character/group member forever if not managed properly gives it that little extra as opposed to just killing and healing one character. If SOD breakdown had a steeper progression it would have been brilliant.

would have been infinitely more enjoyable had it been a football simulator. have to construct goalie nets while avoiding zombies, have to set up defenses so the field stays clear of zombies, have to find people to play soccer with, etc.

Yeah, I don't think Yahtzee actually played it that long. Also, 40 hours isn't enough to do everything in the story, unless you're rushing it, and Yahtzee sure sounds rushin' here.
I'm guessing not a lot of people in the comment section have played the game. Nobody is calling out that Yahtzee clearly didn't fight any hordes (at least successfully), which is one of the most exciting and tense moments in the game. You absolutely will die if you don't go in prepared, but you can destroy them. The first horde the game forces you across is only 50 strong, and it still took everything I had to wipe it out. Since then I've seen hordes as large as 300+, which I don't yet have the resources to deal with. Ultimately, though, your enjoyment of the game will boil down to how much you like stealth gameplay and riding a motorcycle around typical Oregon countryside, since this is most of what you do. Not surprised Yahtzee didn't find it very exciting :p
As much as I love Yahtzee shitting on games, I just finished Days Gone...and it was great, even amazing I would say. I liked Deacon as a character, motorcycle driving around Oregon is great and the zombie horde fighting here was one of the best gameplay experiences I had in years. I really recommend trying it out.
I keep briefly confusing this game for Ride To Hell Retribution.
Can I just point out that this game mechanic of needing fuel for your vehicle but fuel is a scarce resources you need to organically explore the environment for was also done in 2015's Mad Max the Video Game?

Master chief is a soldier who was abducted at the age of six (because of his superior genetics) to participate in an experimental super soldier program to help earth and the United Nations Space Command keep control of its outer colonies who had started to rebel but the covenant soon appeared and attempted to exterminate humanity and so humanity had to fight a losing war against a technologically advanced conglomerate of Alien species. (I’ll keep this short because I would run out the word allowance if I actually tried to summarize the entirety of halo’s lore) and so humanities only hope is for their spartan program and master chief specifically, so he goes on a series of campaigns that take him to ancient alien installations and distant world which culminates in him defeating both the covenant and an ancient alien infection that mostly wiped out the builders of those ancient alien installations.
The Doomslayer starts his story as a space marine that was left behind by his comrades and has to singlehandedly slay and entire army of hell and even venture into it hell itself before saving mars, it’s moons and even the earth itself before resigning himself to an endless war on hell and diving into its depths. He then dimension hops and ends up in the Doom 2016/eternal universe and ends up marooned on the home world of the sentinels at which point he joins their ranks and becomes their mightiest warrior before a great rift is brought in them between the hell backed makyrs who want to sacrifice the innocent for argent energy and the sentinel loyalists who the slayer sides with as well as the makyr father”s chief advisor who gives the slayer godly powers in order to help him in his eternal crusade against the demons and their dark lord which eventually leads to him having a temple the size of a small city dropped on him and him being trapped in a cursed sarcophagus which was only just able to hold him in and in a deep sleep until he was eventually uncovered by humanity and woken up at which point he rampages across the surface of Mars and hell once again attempting to close any and all access to and from hell in order to save the earth and humanity (who as a footnote is currently going through a power crisis and so the UAC which was lead by the advisor who disguised himself as a cyborg named Samuel Hayden and an AI named VEGA who was the makyr father, uncovered argent energy but also opened a lot of portals to hell). The slayer then kills the one responsible for letting the demons take hold and then gets betrayed by Samuel Hayden and cast into hell. And then in doom eternal the slayer saves earth and destroys hell and the makyr homeworld because they would sacrifice civilizations for argent energy, then he goes on and defeat the dark lord who is a way older version of himself who fell to the darkness and in a twist created the father, the makyrs and everyone else pretty much.
And while pretty 2D the emo at least has some damn goals beyond going from point A to point B and surviving

To be bluntly honest, Yahtz, Deacon is in classic depression and emotional exhaustion. Pardon the snark, but: I can't imagine why. Civilization has fallen, his wife's missing and presumed dead, and he mainly has to work with two sterling representatives of humanity: A jumped-up Truther and a former prison matron who runs a work camp. Yeah, I can't imagine why he'd be so upset...
James St. John sure looks an awful lot like Cr1tikal for someone shitting on the legacy of Duke Nukem more than entering the year 2000.

Idk man. I picked up this game about 8months after it was released and it was such an amazing experience. (I guess all the bugs have been ironed out at this point) the only thing that held this game from being a 10 out of 10 was the first 20hrs of the story… after that point i was hooked! I have it a solid 8/10

Finally an honest review of Days Gone, open world Dead Rising with horde mechanics and RPG elements, I'm already bored and I haven't played it.
You should give it a shot. It's one of those games that ends up being more than the sum of its parts. I don't necessarily disagree with any of the criticism I've seen of it and yet I oddly really enjoyed it for what it was. Played a good 35 hours of it and had a good time.
Interesting how IGN’s comment section eviscerated the reviewer for saying it was just okay, but here the audience is all for tearing it down.
