I am always amazed by the people that whinge and whine, and put down peoples efforts yet they are doing nothing themselves. I am just grateful that there are nice people out there that put all this wonderful stuff on RUclips for us to enjoy. Thanks a million to "rootbeerman77"
You don't have to be a fan of any specific genre to appreciate the artistry and talent of an entertainer. And you can't help but appreciate the message of this song, nor the fantastic guitar playing by Jerry Reed. Add the fact that you made a great video to compliment the song and we get a very enjoyable experience. Very good job!
Yeah and that's why he sounded so unique and was so amazing. The banjo picking style actually came from classical guitar picking style and Jerry just applied this back on a guitar. I think that's why he played the classical guitar so much.
Anyone who's ever even attempted to drive or maintain an automobile can understand what Jerry's going on about. I find myself singing this song every time I have to get behind the wheel.
Germany here ... I came to know Sir J. Reed (how could it otherwise be) when he was Snowman a century ago .. started on guitar a decade ago and since then his real magnitude keeps piling . but boy o' boy how cool was he in Lightning :)
Jerry Reed was one of the best...and a sense of humor that came from way out there in the tall grass... most folks know Jerry Reed for his goofy songs...but there's nothing goofy about his guitar playin...he was an amazing talent who never failed to have a good time. God bless you, Jerry Reed
This tune is a classic from my high school days. I heard it on a four track quadrophonic tape player on a Saturday night, while riding in the velvety smooth suspension of a Lincoln Continental. What a classic!
my absolute favorite Jerry Reed song. most people don't realise what a GREAT "picker" the man was. his guitar "riffs" really show that talent in this song.
This is a song my father and I shared on rides to dropping me off to school. I love my rock, and my japanese music but this has a wonderful place in my heart. Thanks Dad. :)
im an 8th grader and i know who jerry reed is, hes one of my favorite singers, thank you very much, and im in a bluegrass band, you dont see many 8th graders in a bluegrass band either , except me
One of the Best, and His music comical as it may be, can barely cover the tears of his passing . Nice to know his music still has merrit especially with the fuel prices of today. Tahnks Jerry... God Bless You
God bless the inventors that change the world. Growing up in America with a family car that was a V-8 and no seat belts - those were some good family trips... (I hate gasing up my Suburban these days!) Leave it to someone like Jerry Reed and the American Country music genre to write a song about it.
In the car-makin' game, you snooze, you loose, and now we got the bail-out blues. Them cars are using too much gas, them oil pump boys been kicking our ass. They cost too much and they sure do smell, they're riding our asses straight to hell, we paid our union dues and got the bail-out blues. Thankyou, thankyouverymuch.
Song was written by Dick Feller for Jimmy Dean, who didn’t record it. One night Dick has a dream he gave the song to Jerry Reed. When he awoke, he followed through. Jerry made it a hit. Feller also write East Bound and Down and The Bandit.
Another #1 hit for Jerry Reed on the Country & Western charts. It was the 269th #1 C&W song of the Rock Era. It also hit #2 on the Canadian C&W charts and #25 on the Canadian Adult Contemporary charts.
One of my Fords is 61 years old, has a top speed of 12 mph and will probably be around another 61 years if parts are still available. It's a Ford 2N tractor. My 71 F 100 still runs good. Cosmetically it looks like it was called to a salvage yard but it is still dependable transportation
I just read your comments, rootbeerman77....if you aren't a country music fan, you are a true appreciator of music. And you've got a good hand at videos. thanks. RIP Mr. Jerry....you are missed.
watch the live video of chet and jerry at Pop goes the country, they were both truly awesome and jerry was honoured by the "certified guitar player" title by chet, they really were two legends, I really wish I could have seen them live while they were still alive..
well HillbillyProduction, you just keep that inspiration, because Jerry is a fond, favorite memory to many of us! :) I love this video & wish you the best as an 8th grade bluegrasser
OUTSTANDING graphics in this video! Thank you for the extra work to put that together! A local radio station DJ in Phoenix put out one called CHEAPER CRUDE or NO MORE FOOD, in response to the 1973 oil embargo. His name Bobby Butler.
Your video is one of the best...non personal singer...version. Too funny. And I know you took a lot of time to find all the appropriate pictures, time their appearance. Still tapping my foot and laughing...Thanks....I'm Sure Jerry Reed is sitting up there looking down in approval.
As an owner of 4 old Ford trucks (56,66,72 & 73) he is singing my tune for sure. I would rather have that 4000 pounds of American made steel protecting me even if they only get 10 to 13 mpg. This song came out just a couple months before they decided to manufacture a gasoline shortage and push the price from 32 to 50 cents a gallon. The good old days for sure.
Jerry was a lyrical genius, too bad he's not around to write anymore. And I gotta admit, those 3 lines are some of my favorite lines in that song. Thanks for the compliment, I always love to get praised (maybe a little too much sometimes 0.0)
@JohnDeereBoy06 yes ethanol is moon shine, but at the last part of making it they add a ingrediant that makes it not good to drink. did you know that everybody that works in a ethanol plant get examined twice a day to see if they are drinking any of the shine. and if you put the expense of shine against gas yes it costs a lot more
I am always amazed by the people that whinge and whine, and put down peoples efforts yet they are doing nothing themselves. I am just grateful that there are nice people out there that put all this wonderful stuff on RUclips for us to enjoy. Thanks a million to "rootbeerman77"

Cause Jerry one of the best.
Jerry plays a guitar with a banjo pickin' style. He was so great.

Jerry reed was one of the best! And one of the very best guitar players there ever was!
This song hits the nail on the head! Lol!
True!
I'm not a man to point and judge
A country & western environmentalist man I have heard everything now!
Anyone who's ever even attempted to drive or maintain an automobile can understand what Jerry's going on about. I find myself singing this song every time I have to get behind the wheel.

Not enough people get a chance to hear a great artist like Jerry Reed. A genuine original with incredible talent.
This 1973 song is even more true today. Jerry Reed rules! I wish that he was still recording!
15 years later, this video is still the only acceptable way of listening to this song for me :D
Just as relevant today as it was when released.
This tune is a classic from my high school days. I heard it on a four track quadrophonic tape player on a Saturday night, while riding in the velvety smooth suspension of a Lincoln Continental. What a classic!
I blare this song full blast in my car
I wish cars today are built like the ones built when this song was released. I'm 22 years old by the way.
No, you don't. You only think you do.
Do you know how difficult your life would be?
you get in a crash in one of those, you die. these days, the car is smashed, but you live.
@@gunnarthefeisty So... Don't crash! Learn how to drive!
@@desertpair2 As much as more electronics an automobile has, more unreliable it is.
