Some people may not be aware that Mr. Reed grew up in an orphanage and had a pretty rough start to his life..God bless that good ol boy..I love his personality and the sound of his voice. No matter what he says or sings...Jerry and Burt. Snowman n Bandit together again R.I.P.
A lot of people are also not aware that you're gay
I have been so in love with Ol Jerry! Did not know that. ❤

'Everything's okey dokey in the Okefenokee' is one of the most satisfying lines to sing in the shower while drinking a beer before you head out for a night on the town
💯
Definitely!
I miss(but dont) my beer in the shower days
"'Everything's okey dokey in the Okefenokee' is one of the most satisfying lines" I'll tolerate dissent about the rest of that
@@herlemaggard69 Shower beer misses you. It told me.
It’s a fantastic sound. Never gets old even to our ears in England.. Jerry Reed..,,,,what a voice and that twang… Love it.
Welcome from The United States of America, friend...
I get goosebumps every time I hear this song.
I lived in Mobile, Alabama for a bit back in 2011-12. Gator meat was a special at many of the restaurants near the Gulf. Watched this movie for the first time around then I think, inspired by Archer. I was a brown guy and stood out like a bagel in a bucket full of grits haha. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Good times!

What an intro !!!!😊
Sounds like lobster to me?!!!!
They don't know how to make movies like this anymore. RIP Boyz!!
I feel blessed to appreciate the genius that is Jerry Reed. He took that amazing Amos Moses sound and ran with it. RIP.
Cant figure why this movie doesnt get the recognition it deserves Its got everything you want in a movie drama comedy action. Maybe cause its sandwiched in the other classics. But I think this is a great movie.
White Lightning is great too.
I actually like white lightning better
This one might have got little recognition, but they made smokey next. More recognition than anyone had besides star wars.
It definitely does
@zacharyjarrells784 Definitely one of my favorite movies, ( Keep it between the ditches)
Rip Jerry Burt and Jack
RIP Gator (1936-2018) Very sad day today.
Rest in peace burt Reynolds
And Jerry Reed
Jerry Reed’s music I love and cherish till I leave this earth
Right on
This was SUCH a good movie. Jerry Reed did an excellent acting job here. He shudda won an award. Burt was handsome as ever.
Who remembers Jerry Reed say a prayer for his wife and his family and friends
First film I ever saw with Burt Reynolds in and still my favourite film of his, Rest in Peace.
Its a good first film of Burt. And remember Jerry Reed played a huge part in their mutual careers.
Listen to how COOL Jerry's music is! Scary/Funk.
@@jorgecallico9177 LOL I dont think this was Burt Reynolds first movie.
Burt Reynolds was in movies since the 1960's.
Was is Jerry's first movie?
I saw this with my Dad and cousins at the Drive in Theatre just outside Toronto Ontario Canada when it came out.
#427 Highway Drive-in Theatre.

How in the world did you ever infer that I thought this was Reynolds first picture?
He made films as early as the late Fifties.
He's one of the top billings in Hitchcock's Presents,
"Escape To Sonoita", 1960
Masterpiece in B & While tv movie with Murray Hamilton and Venetia Stevenson. She the smoking hot blonde briefly married to Don Everly.
Stevenson was one of those too good to be true classic icy blondes. Heard that her daughter was at least equally beautiful and became the inspiration behind the song "Sweet Child Of Mine".

Thanx for mentiong Senoita and Venetia Steveson.
I'll check those out too.
There wont ever be another Burt Reynolds. Rip brother
Jerry n Burt
East bound n down..
For all eternity
@@MrRockzilla86 Burt became close to God before he died. I think Jerry Reed sung gospel too.
GREAT movie.....these days nothing..
This was on recently, and Burt Reynolds had a classic line that had me laughing until I cried. He asks Jack Weston's character why he's driving, and Weston's character says, "Because I don't drive. People in New York don't drive." Burt Reynolds delivered a classic line that followed.
Burt Reynolds says, "That makes sense. That's the same as people from Boston saying they don't fart." Too funny!
Burt Reynolds always managed to give us a good laugh right when we needed it most. RIP, Gator, Bandit, and Paul "The Wrecking" Crewe.
I swear I do love Jerry Reed's songs he always tells the greatest stories through his songs. I loved Jerry as the bad guy but I wonder if this movie was the only film he played a bad guy and was this the only one he played a bad guy against Burt Reynolds. I loved him in Smokey and the bandit - love the song even more.
He was the villainous coach in "The Waterboy"
Jerry sung the theme and played the heavy. He did make a good bad guy.
And just think the very next year the Snowman arrived. 1977.
He packed a mean hillbilly dueling pistol (sawed off shotty)
A lot of good actors made good bad guys.
I was watching the original "3:10 to Yuma" & my Mom was surprised to see Glenn Ford playing "Ben Wade".
Bamma McCall
R.I.P. Mr. Reed
Yeah, like WWE and Vincent Kennedy McMahon. ❤ #fullcirclecheroke #booms#hugs#love

A good "book -end" song to this one is "The Legend of Wooley Swamp" by The Charlie Daniels Band.
Man With The Golden Thumb is great too 😊
Amazing and UNIQUE entertainer..acting, music....amazing!
Jerry Reed's best role...
Banks Lake in Lakeland Ga (where swamp footage was filmed) still looks the same. :)

Classic Jerry Reed. A legend in his own time.
My friend I grew up in Savannah with Lori that played his daughter. I got to grow up with a star lol. She was so lucky to do that role.
Southern Blessing I have a lot of family in Savannah area.
Great movie
Bama mccall 😎👊RIP jerr ❤
ok,i have to watch the movie now just by hearing this groovy song..its on youtube for free
I am from La. but in my family on my mom's side is from south Georgia. I had a first cousin of mine at the time who was police chief in Enigma Ga. He's in that opening montage somewhere but I could never pick him out. He said they just invited all the local police/sheriff agencies to show up one day to film this. Kinda overkill for one guy huh? And people thought the Blues Brothers invented overkill.
ntvypr
Would have been a good time to rob a bank!
A great scene! I grew up close to Enigma. We all went to see the movie when it was released. The guy from Omega made sure he could be spotted. We all had a good laugh. I now live about a mile from where Burt stayed while filming the movie. Sure hate that he is gone.
Jerry Reid got Rock n roll soul blues country its awsome
It's Reed son...Reed

He's originally from Oklahoma, and actually did his production in Oregon and Washington, but my grandad (mom's side) made his own illicit liquor that is said to have been pretty fine. My aunt actually has his handwritten recipe for making it.
Who is from Oklahoma? Certianly not Burt or Jerry. Burt was born in Lansing MI and Jerry, Waycross GA.
@@MerrimacVI my grandfather, who made the whiskey in the story
Love this Song .... since I was a Boy
My favorite show actor s singer
THEY DON'T MAKE MOVIES OR MUSIC LIKE THAT NO MORE
NO WAY. No way they lampoon the Jewish lawyer from up east coming to bring justice to ignorant southerners - and have him lampooned as much as the southerners. The classic moment was when "Mr. Greenfield" told Gator to blend in and go meet Bama (his old high school buddy), while he, Greenfield, was going to be "undercover" in Dunston Co (SOUTH Georgia). And Gator looks at him when he says undercover and says, "You, undercover in Dunston County? You'll stick out like a bagel in a bucket of grits." My dad and I laughed at that forever afterwards. No one has the sense of humor in Hollywood nowadays to allow such raw and genuine humor to shine through.
Man, was this ever Jerry Reed's flick. bad ass song and stunning surprise to most as Bama. If it wasn't so "southern" at a time when the south was less popular than now, I think he'd have gotten a lot more accolades as a dramatic actor. On a humorous note, I remember the day I learned that Jerry Reed was a big deal: when I was a kid and saw my first of Mr. Reed...as an animated guest star on Scooby Doo, Where are You." If you did guest role on that cartoon, you were a big deal!!
I fish in that lake aka banks lake perfect for bass
I love to go there. I live only about 10 miles away.
Great movie and always cool to think how Hal Needham got the idea for smokey and the bandit on this set.
Love this song!! Great lyrics. I now know everyword haha
it ain't legal huntin' alligator down in the swamp boy!! R.I.P Mr. Reed
That boy could eat up his weight in groceries!!!
I wonder where the Louisiana sheriff went to
..named him after a man with the cloth..called him Amos Moses..
Wrong song,dudes.
"You down here looking to buy some condominiums, Mr. Greenfield"
That's why it was so hard for the Feds to infiltrate the South.
Everybody knew everybody so someone new oudl stick out like a sore thumb, even if they were working for a local.
Weekend. Fun!!! Gators!!!
King Cool No Doubt
Thank's. I like those kind of song's..
What a flashback thank you Now I need to see if I can find it on my free TV streams
RIP Jerry & Burt
Man, I wish someone would post that opening segment of this flick where Mike Douglas (the old TV show host) does a cameo as the Gov of Georgia. He absolutely shocked me in that brief but hilariously carried out role. I remember as a 14-year old boy hearing his name in the credits before I saw the flick and thought to myself that the movie had to be so-so at best due to the TV stiff mom used to watch at home. Boy, was I wrong.
(Though his role was mega times smaller, it reminds me of how a few years later, I thought the Richard Dawson role in Running Man was going to be a bust...and the guy dominated the show. I loved the guy. It was like being an ass hole for Dawson was so natural that he didn't have to read the script.)
Back to Gator, though Reed wasn't an actor at the time, I knew of him and considered one of those "King of Cool" kind of guys with southern twist and half way expected him to be good. He was REAL good, of course. You get the feeling that where Reed was from, he had seen a few Bama McCalls in his days!
Don't know if it counts as acting but Jerry Reed had been in an episode of Scooby Doo before Gator came out.
@@doughessonI remember that lol
@@tracysmith9934 If you remember when that episode originally ran,it is time to schedule a colonoscopy.

bigroy38 YesSir, Hose two are a Legend.
wouldn't we all like to know what Roscoe assisted in exactly? Maybe law enforcement insights? lol
They are missed
I think everyone in this movie is gone now :>\
But midway through, there were gems like Sharky's Machine and Starting Over which showed that old Burtster still had it in spades, plus the underrated Hustle.
Sharkey WAYYYY underrated. Great music, Rachel Ward and that voice and maybe best of all, the late very great WWII vet and superb actor, Charles Durning (also featured to great effect in The Sting and [must see] Dog Day Afternoon, as the frazzled NYPD detective having to parlay with deranged bank robbers on a hot and sweaty NYC day - and then has to put up with FBI showing up and taking over his operation (based on true story).
teller121 N let's not leave out HEAT which was great n Stick also with his buddy Charles Durning n Hooper which was the same director of Smokey n the Bandit ooo n can't leave out MALONE which was underated
Now THAT is really cool.
It's the North Florida Law Enforcement Grand Reunion and Annual Picnic!

Slippery Slide: Deliverance to White Lightning to Gator to Smokey & the Bandit to Smokey & the Bandit II to Cannonball Run to Stroker Ace to Cannonball Run II to Cop and 1/2 to playing Boss Hogg.
This should be Ron's song for his soon to come Presidential campaign
Any Suggestions for Ron's Now Suspended Presidential Campaign ?? I Live in Florida & Big Supporter of Ron But I knew it was a Mistake for him to Run for President. He was on a Hi from his Big Win in his 2nd Governor Election. Florida does Not wanna lose him as Governor.
@@patrickburke7929 Well I guess he doesn't need a song now that he quit. He needs to go back to just waiting to see what people want and then doing that. I would say avoid the Red Sovine because while its pretty good its all pretty depressing too.
😂
Burt did his best work before CBR. He was actually "talented" as an actor - and had the screen presence, of course!
Watch "Gator" and "White Lightning".
Dont forget smokey and the bandit
WELL SAID !!
Another Great Jerry! Shouldn't be taken lightly....
The last words in the song.....watch out sheriff dont let the gator bite you on your gonads.
But I like white lightning better but I love this one too really anything with Burt or Jerry are good
Here we go.
Hard Target needed an intro song like this
Archer was right; Gator is the better film, even though it was the sequel.
You know it
Definitely, but I'm sure they learned some things from the first film which only helped them make the sequel better.
White lightning so much better!
Nah white lightning took the cake
Yeah, White Lightning was better. As a kid I felt weird and excited watching a grown woman in a car, putting her feet all over Gator ... haha
Word has it he wrote this song While on set Took him less than 20 minutes LoL 😆
Is that Charles Napier in the boat with Jack Weston?
Might be an uncredited role?
He was already out of the Marines & starting his acting career with Star Trek, among others.
I'm a diehard FSU fan. There used to be a restaurant in Gainesville FL and every time we'd beat the swamp lizards at home and I was there a bunch of us would go in and order gator meat just as obnoxiously as possible
