The Comedian's Funeral

- So i basically did this because every time I watch the movie I get really into the funeral with the song and everything. Then half way through it cuts to Laurie and Sally. So I was just curious as to what it would look like if the entire funeral was done to the song without cutting to the flashbacks. Please note I did this at 3 in the morning in like 10 minutes, i was too lazy to try and match the song to the clips that well (hence why there is no Manhattan on the line "Neon God". I mean seriously that's perfect for him!!!) Then I was also too lazy to fix the aspect ratio. So yeah, let's see how long before youtube takes this down.
Watchmen was ahead of its time
Even rorschach came to Comedian's funeral.
Why he wouldn't come there? He was in one team with Comedian, all masked 'heroes' was standing together against all bad guys upon the streets.. so, why not?
Roman Peterchuk Rorschach was not like the Comedian, comedian was more a rapist, violent guy who just like the licences to punch everything... so why wouldn come there? cause the guy was an asshole O.o
Roman Peterchuk I mean he doesn't get along with other teammates beside Nite Owl. And he still came to this funeral, so deep inside, he still cares for the Comedian, right?
Camilo Gonzales Rorsschach was on his quest to find comedian's killer. Its possible to find that guy at his victim's funeral. So...
Roman Peterchuk
yep, but you stated tha he goues cause they where on the seame team, as if they where remotely friends fighting the crime
Best movie from Zack Snyder and fantastic soundtruck!
the best superheroe movie until now
Some may argue the Dark Knight can suck my penis. This is a comic book movie for adults, not good guy against bad guy, but how life comes to us all in shades of gray. Was hitler truly evil or was he just a mad man that harness democracy to its most ultimate end in demougougery. What comes as pure light as the idea of genius destroy into black as destiny's ends plays it's part.
I vote for Watchmen
some may argue many things. as of right now today trump or hillary are the only salvation. the other a devil. i take few real sentiments in other thoughts.
so on merits dark knights is the better movie? due to keith ledger. he juxtiposted light vs dark order vs choas so well. but is it really a better movie?
the answer is no.
some say the comic is so much better. does that make this a bad movie? again no. it holds its place as the the top hero movie.
while some may rise and others fall this will maintain its place as the pinnacle of super heros and their movies.
dark knight competes, but barely. This movie was before its time. If you put this out now, it would kill it.
"the best superheroe movie until now"
But only in directors cut; or even ultimate, maybe...
"Some may argue that The Dark Knight is the best"
- well... _"some"_ people are retarded, just sayin'! - and that's not even an insult - it's just a fact.
This movie is a bit misunderstood in my opinion, and therefore underrated.
they screwed it up pretty bad.
kinggorrakk how
kinggorrakk lol it is the only superhero movie that approximately sticked to the comic .it's masterpiece not like marvel bullcrap
Read the comics.
There's a huge chunk of the story just not there.
Listen to the lyrics and look at the cinematography. This whole scene was full of clues and hints matching the lyrics. Really well made movie.
yeah like "and the people bow and pray, to the neon god they made"
"When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light" Might refer to how Manhatten gave his old girlfriend cancer
no chrome i dont think so :D
+Chrome NotTheBrowser The song was written and recorded in 1967 by Paul Simon and Art Gurfunkel. It was a statement about the dysfunctional generational conflict in the 60's. Nothing directly to do with the movie.
0:58 I turn my collar to the cold and damp
one of my favorite movies
Yheaaaa SISTERS . . . BroFist :)
Best superhero movie ever since the dark knight. Idk why it's so underrated, this should be a reference for all movies going forward.
this movie is better than the dark night movie.. but it's not better than the dark knight graphic novel...
I don't understand why this movie got average reviews, it's much better constructed and has so many more emotions and messages than movies like avengers, man of steel, the wolverene etc
Man of Steel SUCKED ASS!
Roger Ebert gave this movie 4 stars, and he called it "a powerful experience" and he was right. 9/10 for this movie....
Willverinerage nope
I agree..
Willverinerage nope
This movie had its share of problems but musical choices are not one of them. Great job by Snyder
movie was amazing
This movie has introduced me to so much cool old music
Such a great movie
why the fuck is that your profile picture
Remains one of the best comic superhero movies ever
Drama...no comic !😉
@@stefy82 it's a comic book movie you dumba$$
Watchmen today is still the best Adult Comic Book Film ever, so underrated!
VideoVEGAS deadpool??
In my opinion, THE most beautiful scene in a fantastic movie and one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen on cinema. I know it must seem odd, considering the tone of the scene, but the cinematography and music were just PERFECT.
Thank you for uploading, this is literally my favourite scene of the movie and the song matches it perfectly !
Definitely a brilliant movie that didnt get the recognition it deserved! And wow this scene with this song just blew my mind away!!
All the people who are saying that the comediant was a great superhero,2 options:
1-U didnt read Watchmen
2-U didnt understand Watchmen
I have read Watchmen and understand it very well. I am afraid you don't. Comedian was the only one who understood the world he lived in.
jaycee1111111 it's all a matter of perspective Rorschach had the most dulluded Outlook forsure
this movie is simply awesome, definately underrated, the cameras , music, scenarios and ideias and insanely good
I love how Moloch show respecto to his nemesis.
Still just as good almost a decade later
This song bears witness to an effect of a nihilistic worldview:The extrovert ideal. If all things are viewed as relatively meaningless, then talking is valued above listening and hearing is valued above understanding. If the comedian is the uber-mensch, and to a certain extent an extrovert, albeit an extremely violent, self-absorbed, malicious, and cruel the man who only values what benefits his immediate sense-experience, his death affects others to consider their end more than a sermon would.
This is an all-time classic 60s-era rock & roll song. It paved the way to Simon & Garfunkel's stardom. I've heard it many times over my lifetime, but recently it touched me in a very profound way. The beauty of this song is that it has different meanings to different people (and sometimes at different times). It is a song about loss, miscommunication, politics, etc. Its use in this scene is absolutely perfect - especially worth noting as the 9th anniversary of 9/11 has come and gone.
okay, I've said this before and I'll say it again, Watchmen is THE best superhero movie ever made. Zack Snyder did an incredible job turning a comic which was believed "impossible to make a movie" into a masterpiece. There were other attempts of turning watchmen into a movie, and the directors believed that the movie would take at least five hours to tell the story, Zack on the other hand, kept all the essence from the comic and make it into three.
Each closeup reminded me of the comicbook. his funeral deserved a whole chapter, and every character present has a personal memory of him.
sanguine fellow.
Negan's funeral.
Daniel VR Thomas Wayne*
Fantastic! I honestly don't understand how this film wasn't reviewed better. It was absolutely great.
concordo
Te amo seu fofo na moral, me representou
Não poderia representar meu pensamento melhor
This song is epic and this version is excellent. I really love the additional instruments at 0:45. Gives the song a certain "modern" feeling while still remaining true to the "original" ... could listen to it all day.
The said that the watchmen was one of the only comics that dident work as a movie...
The what?
Green Lantern or Daredevil or Elektra Ok but you must be an idiot if you say that
@Elthenar It was exactly what it was supposed to be: a live-action representation of a dark comic book. It's provocative and gritty, but with the comic book "touch" to it. Gotta love it.
Am I the only one who noticed that the sign at the entrance of the graveyard it's really similar to the sign at the entrance of auschwitz?
+Carew 95 I was aware of the same styling, although it's only now that I think of a parallel to the auschwitz logo that [i think]translates to; Work Will Set You Free...
+SiliconBong "Arbeit macht frei" can have many meanings, in his literal meaning it means "Work makes you feel free". But there other mottoes that were even more cynical, Buchenwald had "Jedem das Seine" written on its gates, which basically means "Everyone gets what he deserves"
***** *imagines the ghost of Obi Wan Kenobi telling luke, "Luke, you're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view." ... .. .
one of the best movie - awesome soundtrack and the best intro in a movie
Awesome movie!!!!
@EliteDoylebros The whole soundtrack was spot on for each scene and the satire that was just oozing from everything. Ride of the Valkyries, Times They Are A Changin', HENDRIX!
sad affleck
Steve Rogers hi
One of the best scenes in the movie! And the movie is a masterpiece 10/10!
Who else goes to funerals in unusually heavy rain?
Funerals aren't scheduled by the weather. I buried my father under similar heavy rain (without an umbrella) and my beloved cousin in a 10 degree snowstorm. When you're burying someone that you love and/or respect the weather somehow becomes irrelevant.
jan egeland
You choose to only attend funerals in nice weather? How respectful
In movies and cartoons and stuff it always seems to be raining when there's a funeral scene, guess it sets the tone.
I think of that song every time this movie comes up.....it can be used in so many different scenes in this movie.....
This song should be for the death of Rorschach
Sadly, the only person that actually cared for him was Night Owl II.
In fact, when Rorschach dies, he beat the crap out of Ozymandias, something so hard to accomplish, that even Dr Manehathan failed to do.
Yeah, I know that doesn't happen in the comic, but that makes stronger the "bromance" between Rorschach and Night Owl.
*****
You do realize that Ozymandias wasn't fighting back when Dan was punching the fuck out of him right?
Willverinerage Yes, but do you realise too that Dr. Manehathan would kill him any time after and he didn't?
***** Do you realize that you are both geeks? It's ok though, we all are. Don't be so serious. ;)
no, Rorschach would not have liked
He is like that the entire movie.
Noone knows who he is, yet he sees and knows all.
2:11 evil version of Bill Gates + Zuckerberg
winterland Or he is a satire of Lex Luthor. The whole Watchmen thing is a satire of Justice League
winterland he's not really a villain, he prevented a world war!
+Gamespider10567 a city is less important than the world
+winterland Ozymandias was able to do something that most of us humans cannot do.......see the big picture. He is not evil. He is a hero! It is a horrible, horrible thing that was done in order to stop the two nations from destroying the world, but what do you think it was like to have the "you have to save the world" responsibility on your shoulders? Ozymandias took that responsibility as his own and did what he thought best. And when the world's smartest man, and the super human Dr. Manhattan, both agree that it was the best thing to do, then you really need to look inside yourself to see that maybe it had to be done if you see him as "evil".
+Kenneth Griffin Jr so the atomic bomb was the right thing to do? because stripped down to the core it's pretty much the same thing.
I do not know but tge combination of this song and this scense. It's so hard to describe :(
dedico esta canción a chespirito...aunque the comedian no tenia ningún parecido en absoluto a chespirito
como se llama la cancion
@sfahmad
Totally. I think almost every single scene in this movie touches me on one or more emotional levels. Snyder did such an incredible job, as did all the cast.
"Watchmen" never plays it safe, always gritty and cutting edge-epic.
That flag has 51 stars.
Yeah, because in this universe Vietnam becomes the 51st state
+RiggsBF Snyder put SO MUCH details into it that most of them are easily overlooked.
+Lex Parsimoniae Some details may be really hard to notice but when you do you realize how much effort was put on something.
¡ɔıpǝɯ :3 k
I know it took place in the 80's, but the fact that they are there when those soldiers are carrying the coffin toward the priest...amazing. Makes your spine shudder dude...great cinematography mahfahka
At 0:37 you can see the twin towers.
+Michael Lucero And yet this movie was filmed in 2008, while the towers fell in 2001. They had to be inserted by CGI representing the alternate version of reality that the movie was representing.
+Au60schild the movie was based in the 80s
+Diarmuid Malanaphy Well of course it was. That was made plainly obvious to anyone who watched it all the way through. What I was saying was that it was FILMED in 2008, long after the towers had fallen and therefore the only way to show them, in the days of the 1980's, was to use CGI. Get it? And the graphic novel and the movie have long been thought by some to represent an alternate version of reality.
Michael Lucero 1985!!!
Been listening to it for years. It's wonderful.
Movie is nothing special, but this scene was directed really good !
that is an insane thing to say
Hater fuck off bitch
I'd say that the song makes about 75% of the scene. This video with the song in its entirety is simply perfect.
The joke wasn't funny: c
I like the way Rorschach adjusts his collar just as the lyrics "I turned my collar to the cold and damp" comes up.
Thats so cool that Dr Manhattan stood there completely dry and not a speck of rain hits him..very cool.
For a long time i haven't heard this song, suddenly watching The Watchmen, i heard this song once again, that moment was freaking loneliness.
This song and ' The times they are a-changing ' really makes this movie worth while for me .
Though besides the music the movie is still really good .
Nice job on this video btw .
"Well, what do you expect? The comedian is dead."
Sends shivers down my spine evey time.
Sir, this... You don't even know how you made my day. My month actually.
The scene was filmed in Canada with a blue screen background, but the inspiration for the cemetery is Calvary Cemetery, in Woodside/Sunnyside Queens. The gated in is located on Greenpoint Ave off the LIE, across the firehouse.
One of the best movies ever. Done. 10/10
such an amazing scene, the movie really blew my mind the first time I seen it.
If I had no clue what Watchmen was, this would still be the one of the most moving music videos ever crafted. Nicely done.
Just did this in 10 minutes? Wow man!!!!!
I think I watched it about ten times in a row. The song and the montage you did, made this very strong.
Thanks for the share dude.
Take care....
Best movie ever. You must see ultimate cut. Also gr8 music.
im not sure about the ideals presented in this movie, but i know it was an excellent movie with an amazing plot, highly underrated
One of the most beautiful scene Cinema has ever done...
The 9th day Human Being created Cinema !!
it has been a couple of years since i watched the movie...and my appreciation only grows deeper....Zack Snyder did a great job of putting it all together... and Jackie Earle Haley absolutely rocked.....its a shame this movie never got the recognition that was due...for me its a classic movie that i will remember for a long time
I love how the rain is falling from Nite Owl's glasses near the end, not his eyes. this scene is absolutely fantastic.
so sad, it makes me kind of happy. life is great.
Very Well done and gotta love seeing Rorschach in "disguise".
All the songs in this movie are just great!!!!
@ajb7876 The comedian was a reflection of what was around him. He was what society had become. He was a mirror of society, so to speak, and he gave them all insight into their weaknesses.Very important character....
Thank you for this video. So many parts in this movie almost move me to tears. It's incredible.
I've seen a good number of super hero movie and I have to say this is one of the best ones ever. I put this one up there with Dark Knight. Anyone who hasn't seen it should.
You will not be forgotten .
I love this song, and I especially love this version.
the comedian is by far the greatest person in this film!
@oniforo its like that awareness test where you count how many passes a team make and after you see again the video you see a black bear moonwalking in the background. I didn't even remember Roarschach at the funeral until i saw this video. It's that deep man.
I love that u did this, my favorite movie and with out doubt the best scene in the movie but the flashbacks always made me want to see the entire funeral and hear the entire song at once..............nice job!
If I were given the option to become this man I would take it in a heartbeat.
Thank you by this version, with only pieces of all funeral!!!
Great graphic novel, great movie....
the music just perfectly fit to the scene, awesome
awesome! I didn,t know there was a complete version like this. thanks for posting. One of the greatest graphic novels ever written and a perfect on screen adaptation. Respect to Alan Moore and whoever directed the movie.
Rest in Piece, Edward Blake...you are missed
For those wondering the song is:
Sound of Silence - Simon and Garfunkel
Very good editing. This looks really good with al the funeral sences. Well done.
XD I never noticed poor old Rorschach walking around when I saw this in theaters, its funny how much you can pick up from watching something twice.
this is so amazing never have a song and image fit so perfectly this is geek heaven
I like how even though this is your own edit the lines "like a cancer grows" syncs to the panning of Dr. Manhattan
One of my favorite videos on RUclips!!
I thought you did an excellent job, DarthOliptius. It fit the scene just perfectly. The line "...and the people bowed and prayed..." matched up with the bald ex-villain signing himself. I think that's cooler than the neon god part, anyway.
Great song and powerful images edited well. Good work on removing the flashbacks without us really noticing them.
The songs keep this movie alive.
Great part,i ilove it.
To JimmyStellar:
Good observation! I think these kinds of comments really highlight why the Watchmen is considered to be one of the greatest graphic novels of all time.
The irony is truly beautiful, and a testament to why the Watchmen is so multi-layered and complex.
You've done such an excellent job. The funeral looks better than in the movie.
The comedian is the baddest badass I love most, dark, cynical, rotten inside, corrupt, everything bad... but still: human. With this spark of hope. Incredible movie, no doubt.
Fantabulous editing dude....hats off
One of the best movies, ever! Love the song too.
