Thanks. I was wondering about a hitch mount for the i4 but this is a more elegant solution and looks like the rack can be mounted relatively quickly when needed and dismounted otherwise (to save on range in the i4).
Hi thanks for the install video. I just got the same roof racks for my 2007 328i and noticed that one cross bar is longer than the other by about 1”. There are also three small rubber fins under the longer one. Are your cross bars different lengths? And if yes, which one goes to in front/rear? Thanks!
How do you know which is Front vs Back? Mine have both sloped rubber so they seem interchangeable. One of them though has 3 little pieces coming straight down from underneath - can’t tell if it’s meant to be wind deflector.
Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying them! A few reasons, really. I sold the F30 to buy a WRX because I wanted a manual car with AWD, knowing that I'd eventually move to Colorado. But right before moving, I found someone who wanted to buy my slightly modded WRX for a pretty high price that I couldn't pass up. I also bought my wife a Lexus GX470 so I could take it off-roading in Colorado occasionally, but since she can't drive stick I needed an auto car for her to drive while I have hers. Lastly, my first car was an E90 328i and I absolutely adored that car. I just wish it had more power. So, I bought the auto E90 335i xDrive to fill every want and need. Plus, they're much cheaper.
@@yoyoman9747 If you’re looking for a 335i, you can’t go wrong if you stick with the N55 engine. If you want the 328i, go with E90. The F30 is quicker, but the engine is notoriously unreliable and the timing chain guide can make the engine destroy itself if it fails. Unfortunately those guides are unpredictable, some people have engine failure at 40k and some at 100k while other engines are completely fine for a long time. It’s Russian roulette if you ask me.

Sorry for the delayed response, but the noise wasn’t bad at all with the sunroof shade closed. Definitely noticeable with that shade pulled back though
scanspeak00 the previous owner installed it to carry lumber actually, I’m just keeping it because I love the look. I may use it for something more practical like a cargo box depending on my needs

Do you know if I can buy the screws that adjust the width separately? The security bolts on 5.16?

I’m trying to figure out which one goes up front the longer or shorter one
If I remember correctly, the longer one goes in the front

The front one has ridges along the bottom to guide air underneath the rear one without creating too much drag
Hey, does anyone know which locks to use for this particular rack?
I'm confused on how the torque wrench/driver works.. does it click when it reaches 8nm? mine doesn't
It doesn’t click, it starts twisting to show me I’ve reached the torque limit
Are they going to fit on e91?
Not quite, since the E91 has existing rails parallel to the length of the car. They would require different mounts.
Really enjoying the videos. Interested to know, what made you switch from a F30 to an E90?

@@TheCarEnthusiast Thank you for the detailed reply. I'm myself in the market for a 335i and deciding between F30 and E90.

Do these fit with coupes ?
I'm not sure if these exact ones fit coupes, but I know you can get BMW oem roof racks for coupes.
How is the noise on this?

Thinking about this upgrade myself to carry bikes. What are you planning to use yours for?

I have the same racks and for bikes I bought Thule Freeride.
You realize that those are just security bolts, and you can get the security bits at harbor freight for 5 bucks. Just fyi....
Good to know!
I feel like if I put my bike up there it will completely fall off 😮😦
Lol why??
