Metallica doesn’t sound like this anymore

  • This is my all time favorite Marshall 80’s guitar tone. If I’m not mistaken Metallica had to borrow some Marshall amps to record this album and they had to use a tube screamer in front to get more saturation out of it and that’s how they came up with this huge raw ultra saturated guitar tone that has aged like wine almost 40 years after. Probably the album with the most gain for sure? Thanks for watching 🤘

Single takes definitely demand higher gain, but the real gold comes from lower gain multi tracking in this album. That's the *chef's kiss* for a monster tone

Playing with less dirt is the easy part. Flawlessly matching each performance takes more effort, although I wonder if they slowed down the tape to get better results, as there seems to be tuning discrepancies from song to song, sometimes part to part.
