exactly, my mistress' HD7 died. I convinced her to steer away from WP. Now she wanted the same ringtone on her new phone. I couldn't remember the ringtone name. With the help from the video above I could "restore" her favourite ringtone that is not among default ringtones on iPhone. Thanks for the video.
I miss these sounds so much! I still got 2 Windows Phones laying around in my house, but none of them are HTCs unfortunately. 😢 As much as I'd like to use them today, without apps they are not far from feature phones which make phone calls and messages.
i remember when i was in school and some of the cool kids had their first mobile phone, they'd listen to the default ringtones during breaks and then feel cool about it... and as soon as i got my first mobile, i just turned in on silent and then used it as an excuse to flee unwanted conversations... "ah, i'm sorry but there's someone trying to reach me, you're not hearing it because i've got it on mute"... yeah, weird kido... even weirder now...
:((( I really miss my windows phone... my htc surround broke and i've tried looking everywhere to download them for the android phone that i'm using now. (BTW, my favorites were 13, 14, and 18!!!!! those ringtones just remind me of all the fun i had with my windows phone.)
A lot of variety, but if OEM ROMs can have certain ringtones included, there should be a way to bring more to the phone. If I remember correctly, there was a program for the Zune30 that allowed you to use the player as a mass storage device.
Would it be possible to download the ringtone directly from the browse. Like if I go to a website and click the download link, would it give the option to save the mp3 on the phone and set it as a ringtone??

Okay, so I have an HTC windows 7 phone (not a surround) and AT&T is now saying that you can make ringtones from your music library on your phone. Can anyone inform me of how to do that? I've followed the instructions on the AT&T website but they don't work. Thanks!
@matthias2986 I ended up going with the phone that I was planning to get the whole time before the glitz and glam of the 7 phones got to me, which is the HTC Desire. I think it's best feature(Android) is that it doubles as a hard drive when you plug it into the computer. No dealing with pointless proprietary software like iTunes(which I hate with a passion) or Zune, just plug it in, click-drag your stuff in and go. That's something I really miss doing on the old MP3 players before the iPod.
OP assumes that the "custom ringtones" were removed from windows phone 7 because they...didn't have time to put it in? Is it not obvious it helps Verizon/Sprint/AT&T make money off of customers?
@KnightMD It woudn't take MS 3 years to get there i'd say a matter of months only. as WM 6.5 had and still have feathers that the latest iOS4.2 does NOT have
i have a blackberry and getting the HTC surround .... on my black berry i make my ring tones threw Zedge.net mobile17.com does any one know if its possible to get ring tones to the HTC that way or threw txt ??
As stupid and shallow as it may sound, this and the having to hard-reset if I remove my SD card are the 2 major dealbreakers on WP7 as it currently is for me. I'll wait for the HD2 port to be complete and then maybe invest in one next year after MS figures out they screwed up by becoming the next iPhone.

On the kin two, i had before... you couldn't drop add ringtones like on android but i used myxer.com and i was able to add ringtones to it by sending it as mms and then saving the sound... The kin devices and the wp7 are virtually the same and released in the same year so im sure u can use myxer.com and be able to get ringtones that way(and its free)

mani should of seen akk this videos about windows 7 phoines before i got one, i was so happpy with my old ANDROID PHONE.... now i cant put a pic on the background, i cant have my fav song in my alarm tone, i cant have it as my ringtone EITHER ima give up on this phone.... :'( just because this phone looked nice and kool..

What was this all about? I bought this phone for my daughter, eager to have all new things and then she is very disappointed with not being able to have ringtones. I was waiting to see how she liked it before I purchase one for me. Well of course you all know I WILL NOT BE getting one. So this video did not help AT ALL! another iphone another day. wp7 is a huge contrast to the american so-called boring symbian. pure functionality boring interface vs fancy interface zero functionality. microsoft, go ahead and enjoy your fans' fanism. I'll stick with opened os like android or symbian.

Deal breaker. I was about to buy an LG Optimus 7 today and luckily enough saw that you can't add your own ring tones.
Even though it sucks no custom ringtones, I have to admit many of those sounded great. I hardly ever add custom ringtones anymore these days. Who has the time?
