best episode of ido to date. seeing you catch fish is cool....learning how to catch those fish is way cooler! for future series perhaps you could discuss different species migration movements through the winter and where to look for them
I watch this video every year. Wish you guys would make more like this. I love these episodes where you spend time teaching how your finding the fish. It's so valuable.
This is why I'm a fan of IDO. They don't just show us how good they are at fishing, they're making an effort to help everyone become better and more knowledgeable when fishing! Keep it up, I'd love to see more episodes like this one.
Nice job guys - mapping is a subject near and dear to my heart and you explained it super well in going through each of those segments. True teaching at its finest, this will make people better anglers.
Loved the detail on how you break down a map. That's the kind of education that's hard to find without folks like you willing to share it. Regardless of where you fish, that insight would be appreciated. Thanks
Really one of the best fishing shows out there. It's nice watching people catch fish, but it's way better how you guys actually show where to fish, how to fish em, and what you're using.
probably the most informative yet entertaining ice fishing video I have ever watched. Too often we focus on how to catch fish and not where. This was perfect, you showed us what to look for and then went out and put it into action. More shows like this would be phenomenal, this was truly a one of a kind piece. Well done!
it's great to drool and watch you catch amazing fish, but my favorite part of all the Episodes is the information side of things. Where you are fishing, why you fish there, what lures, how are you presenting them, etc. The more you know in life the easier things get!! Cheers gents.
literally watched this video, went out to a lake where ive been struggling to find crappies all year, used some of the tips from this vid and caught a whole bunch of slabs. good stuff guys
I'm with the rest of the guy's great show, love the information on over looked structure. I'm also going to try this on my next ice outing. Keep it up, your crew rocks tight lines guys!!!
The knowledge and tips you are sharing is fantastic! Your a fishing hero to my 7yr. old boy who lives to Fish and getting a Solid schooling from you! Thanks IDO Team.
originally from florida and lived in michigan now for 6 years, fish the open water for smallies all season but have still never ice fished. It's intimidating to think about buying equipment, trying to find fish, and knowing what to fish with. It's definately something I'd love to learn and this just gave me more insight on how to get started and where to focus. Thanks for the tips. It gave me the incentive to make it happen by next year.
I really enjoyed this episode. Getting into ice fishing more and more, not knowing much about what fish do and how they think, this was very informational
Great show. I just spent the better part of 2 hours going over lake maps I have downloaded on my laptop while watching and realized areas I have completely overlooked in the past. Thanks.
Thumbs up Jim!!! When you started In-Depth Outdoors TV I don't know what your goals were or visions, but I personally think your the leader in fishing know how these days. I look back at the days of the In-Fisherman when they had a magazine thick as a dictionary and show's that lasted a hour long. Now their shows and the Linders are 15 minute's of fishing information and 15 for their sponsors. I still don't get why Jackie Bushman of Buckmasters can get a hour on the Outdoor Channel, lol??? Anyway's, Jim I really think your on top and hope others come to see it, even among other show's and video's. It's really quite comparative to the old In-Fisherman in that your educating anglers in the know besides show's and video's of people just catching fish. I'm really liking your YT video's and look forward to watching more of them. Just like a magazine or DVD, I can go back on things that interest me and review them time and time again. FISHON !!! Muskyjo
Very informative, my personal favorite type of fishing show, something I can learn from. I like the idea of discussing multiple species and their feeding patterns.
Awesome show! This was a great idea. I'd love to see more shows like this. If you could also do a segment that talks about when we should be looking in certain areas for fish based on the time of year. Keep up the great work!!
Nice show concept. You should do this in open water too where you can move around in the boat and show how the structure changes on the electronics as you also show how that relates to the electronic maps.
James and company, love the show and this format is definitely welcome any time. I am left just a tiny bit confused by the 4th segment though. In the map description, you point out the 2 deep holes that you'd fish and you point to basically the middle of those holes. But then in the video section, you guys are fishing a flat NEXT to the basin which seems to be completely different structure. Could you go into more detail about this? What are you looking for (on a map) when you're looking for a flat like this? Could you provide an example? And when do you decide to fish this type of flat next to a hole rather than just fishing the hole? Thanks!
great episode guys love the changes and finally fishing in ND!!! thats not devils lake cant wait to see more episodes like this I never miss one keep it up love the changes
Excellent detail that many of us have been looking for, thank you. Now that you have spoiled us, would you consider a second picture within picture that always shows the graph?flasher? watching the action of the fish on the screen is most interesting to see the fish (screen shot) and rod hit at the same time.
You guys should take a trip to rush lake in ottertail mn! Great panfish and pretty good walleye too! So much structure on that lake you could fish almost anywhere. I'm just wondering which spots would be better than others
Great video. We are beginner anglers and still learning a lot, this is a huge problem we have been coming to is where the heck do we go. We live in the Twin Cities and like to fish locally going maybe an hour outside the cities. We are still struggling with what TIME of day to go and also what fish do depending on the time of winter, like in different months. At this point, we just want to get meat on the ice. We just want more catches. Also we prefer going fishing during the day only so how do we need to change what we are doing to get more bites. Thanks again!
Hope to see more of these kind of videos to explain how to fish certain types of waters, and what to look for. you should take suggestions on a lake that someone sends in. i have 1 or 2 that i would like You to take a look at and use it in your video.
Sitting here trying to learn more about the lakes I fish and I swear to you no lie I just got off a bad day at lake irvine by devils lake and the first lake your on in the video irvine I couldnt help but chuckle to myself
Really liked this informative episode , do one on rainbow trout and were to target them , that's what we have in Alaska mostly trout, char along those lines , once again awesome series 👍🏼👍🏼
Great video! Does anyone have resources for learning mapping concepts?I've been trying to learn more about lake mapping concepts and what to look for on lake maps.
can't find the epsode/show where you were fising on early CLEAR BLACK ICE ( is all I can remember lol ) with small Rippin Raps.... UV Glow or Perch - you were killing them on that but the ice was CLEAR BLACK if that helps?? thank you
Not understanding...if it was your first time there, why do the iceholes have no slush from drilling around them? They look a day or so old...sitting in warm weather..just wondering.
Looks like i will spend all winter working overtime so I can afford half the stuff you promote and miss fishing this winter. Wow!!!!!!!! Maybe next year. : )
so you point out the basins saying if you were to fish the two deep basins you would find fish , but then in the video your fishing an adjacent 20ft spot?
best episode of ido to date. seeing you catch fish is cool....learning how to catch those fish is way cooler! for future series perhaps you could discuss different species migration movements through the winter and where to look for them
110% agree. Migration with triggers(Calendars) would be great.
I watch this video every year. Wish you guys would make more like this. I love these episodes where you spend time teaching how your finding the fish. It's so valuable.
This was a great change. I would love to see more like this in the future. Thanks

one of the best informative, instructional shows, ever....thanks so much :)
it's great to drool and watch you catch amazing fish, but my favorite part of all the Episodes is the information side of things. Where you are fishing, why you fish there, what lures, how are you presenting them, etc. The more you know in life the easier things get!!
Cheers gents.
Very helpful information. I'm excited to use what I learned from this for these Wisconsin lakes. Keep videos like this coming.
Your best educational show to date. Cannot catch 'em if you cannot find them. I love your new format !!
Great episode! Please do more like this. The knowledge you guys have to share is way more valuable than watching you slay fish, in my opinion.
literally watched this video, went out to a lake where ive been struggling to find crappies all year, used some of the tips from this vid and caught a whole bunch of slabs. good stuff guys

I really hope for another one of these episodes this season! Very informative! Thanks!

I really enjoyed this episode. Getting into ice fishing more and more, not knowing much about what fish do and how they think, this was very informational
Great show! Love learning how to read lake maps better, hearing the pros discuss what they look for and where they would attack a lake!
Thanks Steven.
Loved this episode looking forward to many more!!
Great show. I just spent the better part of 2 hours going over lake maps I have downloaded on my laptop while watching and realized areas I have completely overlooked in the past. Thanks.

Thank you guys for the advice. I love these informational and educational videos. Keep them coming.
Awesome show! This was a great idea. I'd love to see more shows like this. If you could also do a segment that talks about when we should be looking in certain areas for fish based on the time of year. Keep up the great work!!

favorite fishing show of them all!
Nice show concept. You should do this in open water too where you can move around in the boat and show how the structure changes on the electronics as you also show how that relates to the electronic maps.
more informative than any other fishing show period
You should do a show on how to fish lakes that are only about 12 ft deep
James and company, love the show and this format is definitely welcome any time. I am left just a tiny bit confused by the 4th segment though. Great video! This "spot on the spot" stuff is awesome, keep this coming.
Excellent detail that many of us have been looking for, thank you. Now that you have spoiled us, would you consider a second picture within picture that always shows the graph?flasher? watching the action of the fish on the screen is most interesting to see the fish (screen shot) and rod hit at the same time.
like the change, great to get a better understanding on what to look for in stucture to catch more fish. my favorite is probably the walleye😉
Best fishing show. Period!
thanks guys great show .. tons of great info !!!
You guys should take a trip to rush lake in ottertail mn! Great panfish and pretty good walleye too! So much structure on that lake you could fish almost anywhere. I'm just wondering which spots would be better than others

Awesome episode! Since I am heading to Devil's next week, I might hit that lake as well.
loved this episode. Great idea and concept. Maybe talk or mention the bait of choice and how you rig the presentation.
Hope to see more of these kind of videos to explain how to fish certain types of waters, and what to look for. you should take suggestions on a lake that someone sends in. i have 1 or 2 that i would like You to take a look at and use it in your video.
great advice, great show. thank you
You should come out to the Iowa Great Lakes. We have a nice mixture of all game fish here at Lake Okoboji
Best informative video I've seen in a while.
KEEP THEM COMING!!!
I would love to see a episode like this to target perch.
Do the just walleyes follow the inside turn or do other fish also follow it?
Sitting here trying to learn more about the lakes I fish and I swear to you no lie I just got off a bad day at lake irvine by devils lake and the first lake your on in the video irvine I couldnt help but chuckle to myself
What do you guys do in order to incise finicky fish into biting
Awesome episode love it
best fishing out here right now hands down!
Really liked this informative episode , do one on rainbow trout and were to target them , that's what we have in Alaska mostly trout, char along those lines , once again awesome series 👍🏼👍🏼
Also can you do a video on when to use wax worms vs minnows and why and where we would use different ones? Thanks :)
Great video!
Does anyone have resources for learning mapping concepts?I've been trying to learn more about lake mapping concepts and what to look for on lake maps.
Loved it keep up the great work

Great video !
Agree best episode to date!
can't find the epsode/show where you were fising on early CLEAR BLACK ICE ( is all I can remember lol ) with small Rippin Raps.... UV Glow or Perch - you were killing them on that but the ice was CLEAR BLACK if that helps?? thank you
for Walleye
so much help! thanks!
outstanding. thanks!
Teach us how to set up the most effective gain setting on the marcum flashers
You should film ice fishing shows all winter like all the other teams do.
Not understanding...if it was your first time there, why do the iceholes have no slush from drilling around them? They look a day or so old...sitting in warm weather..just wondering.
@indepthoutdoors you guys should talk to Adam and see if you guys could target white bass on lake Winnebago. I caught about 50 or so just by my self.
great tutorial !! good job
Looks like i will spend all winter working overtime so I can afford half the stuff you promote and miss fishing this winter. Wow!!!!!!!! Maybe next year. : )
Do you use Garmin for all your mapping or humminbird helix
Helix with lakemaster maps.
@@InDepthOutdoorsTV what lakemaster chip do you use and what best way to get bottom composition on chart
so you point out the basins saying if you were to fish the two deep basins you would find fish , but then in the video your fishing an adjacent 20ft spot?
This is awesome however detail about where you would drill and show it on the map. It would be even better
