Maybe only a climber can grasp the magnitude of her doing this climb. CONGRATES !!! Wolfgang would be thrilled and my inner eye sees his joyful smile as he sees this .
@@Timedelayedfuse not everyone can afford gear to go outside. Not to mention it’s so dependent on where you live and what kind of access to transportation you have.
obviously very glad and thankful that life is pretty much normal for us here in nz but that does mean we have to wait for the tour and cant watch out online :( impatient!
I hate how Reel Rock chose to frame this story. TONS of women are physically strong enough to climb this route. A totally scrawny 15 year old Adam Ondra climbed this route. I don't really understand how so many people are still so sexist. Climbing is not bodybuilding. Women can climb ANY route, end of story.
Action Directe has been around for over 25+ years and a few dozen men have climbed it and Melissa is the first women to climb it. So no not TONs of women are capable of climbing this route. "Women can climb ANY route, end of story." is simple not true. While many things are sexists, recognizing that are physical differences between men and women is not one of them. You do a great disservice to women like Melissa by not recognizing that something like this is pretty significant.
@@kecoproductions there are physical differences between men and women but those differences just aren't THE factor in climbing (you don't have to be the hulk to climb), I personally know women who are physically stronger than 15 year old Adam Ondra (who climbed this route), there are women who can squat 270kgs, who can bench press 150kgs.... Melissa Le Neve is strong but she is incredible for her work ethic and her belief in her ability... she earned the send
@@summercityzach For sure there are tons of women who have more absolute strength than 15 year old Adam Ondra. But in climbing absolute strength isn't as important as relative strength, i.e. strength to weight ratio. 15 year old Adam Ondra was a scrawny bean pole so he didn't have much weight he had to pull around.
@@kecoproductions correct and due to physiological difference between men and women, women tend to not be able to achieve the same size and absolute strength levels as men but CAN absolutely achieve an equal (or higher) strength-to-weight ratio as men (take a look at the worlds of gymnastics and Ballet for proof)
@@summercityzach you are just full of analogies that are just lacking science and actual empirical evidence. You are comparing apples with turtles and let us just say that in gymnastics women can achieve the same weight to strength ratio...but no, they cant achieve the same s to w ratio... just look at the disciplines: have you seen women working at the rings or the parallel bars? try to put an elite guy fighter and an elite women fighter in the MMA ring and see who is strongest pound for pound! I dont understand what is this whole girls are as strong or stronger than the guys thing? is it all that matters, when clearly is not the case for the vast majority of people on Earth. Climbing is more complex and climbing 9a requires great conditioning, dedication, the right project, money, spare time and so many beyond your physical abilities, yet there are a lot of climbers than may climb AD yet one has to prove it. Melissa has achieved something unique and she probably does not give a rats ass about what sjw think about s to w ratio. she clearly is a great athlete and that is it.
Still a man's route.....she trained for years and obviously could use 2 fingers for some monos and she ways around 110 pounds with no more fat.....well pretty masculine so....but anyways great achievement.
She is a LEGEND💪🙏
I'm a 35 year old man, and when I grow up, I want to be as strong as Melissa Le Neve
Same here. I pale in comparison to her power and technique.

I am not sure...
oh man, all this inspiring scenery and here we are sitting at home, can't even go to a gym.
Go outside then....
My climbing gym is open
oh woman...
You don't need a gym to work out. All i hear is excuses ;)

I hope Matt Groom knows who Lonnie Kauk is now too, after watching Reel Rock 15.
matt groom knows a lot about the kauk
@@kylecampbell6953 not that Kauk. He didn’t even know who he was in 2019.
She looks like Pete Whittakers sister
