HI have you tried diatomaceous earth for killing mites on the bottom tray mix in sand must be kept separated from the bees by wire or false floor or wood shavings Cheers 🍾
Try putting some peppermint candies in your hives for hive beetles. Just a few peppermint candies per hive. I put one in each corner and it solves that issue.
I just saw a video of an interview with Paul Stamets about Amadou extract (from certain mushrooms, I think, since Paul Stamets is the mushroom guru extraordinaire) and and bees. He said it doubles the lifespan of the bees and reduces the deformed wing virus by 1000 fold. Have you heard of it? I'd love to know more if you have!
No. I'm just a second-year beekeeper so I wouldn't presume to be expert enough to teach a class. Maybe someday. Do you speak English, or understand enough to be able to benefit from a class in English?
I have been using a tube entrance on my layens hives to try to keep the beetles out
Is it working well?
Does that work?
@@sjhdevin it worked after i put weather stripping around the top, you have to seal up every crevice they can get in

I haven't used it for mites, but I do have a few beetle traps that use DE. It works really well for that!

Thank you. I'm planning on trying that soon!
They don't seem to like those dowels in the middle. Do they build around every single one?
No, usually they incorporate it well. Even in this video several frames had dowels that you may not have even noticed.

I've only seen video titles and references to the topic. I'll listen with interest for other voices to report seeing benefits.
