I hate SUVs, but Cadillac did something great! It’s like a shorter Lyriq. The only problem is you will never see one on the road (maybe 1) because the dumb dealers mark up everything.

GM has really been nailing the designs and redesigns of their cars/suvs recently. It’s also great they redesigned their charge port door. That shaky port door on the lyriq was rough.
I’m assuming this will probably be identical in size to the equinox ev.

This is exactly what I told my dealer I would want a couple of years ago. I sold my GMC Canyon and bought a new Tesla Model Y last year instead. It would be hard to trade in this great car , but because the Optic comes in orange, I might be ready to deal. I don't even want to know what other colours will be available. Joe, your reviews are more fun than anyone elses.
Now that is an EV I would like to own. The color is spot on. Love the sporty look. Tesla is in trouble.

Hey Raiti, I've noticed that some of the Optiq's specs have been upgraded: horsepower is now 300; torque, 354. Range, though is still 300 miles!
This is a vehicle that make’s sense on all levels, price, luxury and design inside and out.

Cadillac has knocked it out of the park! The details and attention to craftsmanship is incredible. Making it fully loaded is a huge accomplishment. The lyric should be done simple just like the Optic. I hope it qualifies for the full $7500 tax credit. The Tesla competition just got a huge boost! Great job Cadillac! Hopefully GM has direct sales to avoid the price gouging from dealers!
Cadillac will return to the UK later this year, with the Lyriq and Optiq.

I love what they are doing…but I hate what Big Bill Hell’s Cadillac does down the road…mark up everything! Makes people not want to buy a EV that costs $50,000-$80,000…that is why Tesla (which I hate to say) is doing better in the market.

GM and Hyundai/Kia have the best design departments nowadays IMO. You can tell their designers have some freedom without being too conservative unlike some other companies.

This will probably be unpopular, but I also like how Mercedes-Benz does designs as well. I’ve been hating BMW lately, but that new concept convertible they came out with looks really good and is what I expect from them!

@@Carfan678I agree, it is freaking disgusting, the K5 DOES LOOK BETTER…I can’t stand the new 7 Series or IX because it doesn’t follow BMW’s design language that well. (Plus the weird “beaver tooth” grill) Have you seen the new Concept BMW Skytop they’ve come out with though? It is what I WANT all BMWs to look like!

Would love to own the Optiq. Waiting for the ranges to get 350+ and the charging network to be built out a bit more. My 2023 Kia Sportage PHEV is a dream to drive in EV mode, which is where it is most of the time. 😊

I was just about sold on the Lyriq but the Optic seems to give quite a lot for a bit less money. The only thing I would change on both vehicles is the dash- I wish the screen was as long as the one in the Lincoln Nautilus! ps. Do any other Cadillac vehicles offer captain's chairs in the 2nd row?
I like the Optiq color choice. It's nice that it has the HUD too. Hopefully, when it becomes available, Cadillac does not take away the HUD like the did my 2024 Sport 3 Lyriq.

GM is not playing! Wow🏆 These comments are full of Asian Car owners and its a crime to hate on Beautiful GMs Chevys and Buicks. I predicted Ford and GM would eventually out Design over sea brands. The brands these comments drive. Remember now the Asian and European Car Brands are relying on Ford and GM to help develop their new Car models. While Cadillac is making a great, even affordable car in the Optiq, as a consumer I am more likely to consider buying a hybrid I wouldn't have to worry about charging. I often travel where there are no charging stations, and I treasure the freedom to go anywhere I please.

I really like it, I do hope they introduce lower trim levels in the next model year like they did with the Lyriq because as it is I think it sits too close to that vehicle in terms of price.

This truly is a beautiful well thought out vehicle design. I can see where GM is taking a huge risk in betting the public will finally embrace electric vehicles. If they don't I wonder if GM will survive given their huge investment in converting all their vehicles to EV's. Toyota has already put the brakes on EV production thinking it is not the future of mass transportation.

I sold Cadillac for years. This looks like a winner. However, you didn't mention "leather" and a Cadillac without leather? Also, It is an EV. I hope it is better than what Ford has done with their Lightening, which they bascially ruined with failed electronics. Cadillac has a history of introducting technology that is fantastic or terrible. If this is fantastic, I will be the first one in line. (not that color).

It's a beautiful vehicle , Cadillac's overall styling is very unique and cutting edge, BUT, Ev's have too many unintended consequences to list here, and 300 mile range is not impressive, these ev's need to be getting at least 500 miles to be attractive ( in my opinion), Great review Joe
Almost no gas powered vehicles have 500 mile range.
Unintended consequence of EVs are that they’re by far better to drive and for the environment than gas powered vehicles. Lower cost to operate. Lower cost to maintain. More reliable. Etc.
Go drive one for a bit instead of giving armchair prognostications.
It's still pretty expensive. If it's over 50k than i think its expensive.

Great looking suv by Cadillac(rather have it in a rear-wheel based Awd 3.0 L 300 Hp or more twin -turbo gas engine) but I wish the government would just let these cars companies make hybrid vehicles and not have this deadline on going all vehicles EV by a certain year.They know we aren't ready to go fully electric yet.
