As an Artist working on the VFX industry in North America, I think the whole AI craze does have a great advantage for many artists and studios, but will also hinder and hurt many artists opportunities in the long run too. Over the past 10 years I have witness the reduction of artists needed per departments in order to complete a show/movie, even the disappearance of entry level positions altogether at some big studios. This on itself makes it much harder for many artists to get the jobs doing the type of work they would like to do. As seen with many other trends from the past, I expect the AI craze to push artists to try to keep up with unrealistic deadlines, because clients think everything can be done now much faster due to AI, with less people and for cheaper too. Just like I have experienced first hand with a lot of work being outsource to other countries, where we have to ingest the work and do fixes to make sure everything works down the pipeline. I expect with AI the duty of many artists would shift to prepare and clean up AI generated work, something that might not be of the interest for many artists who wish they could do the actual work creation.

My only advice is to expand your skillset,if you're only good at one thing AI will replace you easily, but if you have strong knowledge of many different fields you can use AI to connect the dots and create something that AI couldn't all by itself
AI will never be able to make a AAA game all by itself, but if you understand character design, environment, sound design, game design etc... You can make something magnificent in months that took 500 people to make in years

Dreamworks ceo said some days ago that IA was going to cut around 90% of people needed to make a film.
That may means that there will be tons of indie productions but only few will success. Also big companies will continue amassing fortunes.
That what is happening with game industry (google android, apple store, valve steam, epic) get the big cut because there are thousands of little unsuccessful games published every month. Unity and modern 3d softwaere made super easy to create games and that was good for the industry but only few see the real money.
Definitely it will kill traditional jobs as 3D technology killed 2D animation for many years. I am sure it will be even worse . That does not mean that game or animation industry are going to suffer at all.

This is some truly impressive ignorance, particularly given what we've seen of AI over the past few months, the many predictions made prior to ChatGPT that assured everyone that the kinds of things that AI is doing now would take decades, perhaps not even being achievable this century, and what has been achieved by simply stacking on greater parameter counts and more powerful hardware. We're only just beginning to see the start of attempts at more efficient AI and even these early, primitive stages are amazing. Hell, actual humanoid robots are in the works, and here you are declaring that AI won't replace 3D artists like it is with 2D. Entire professions will be automated over the next few years.
