I used these for most of my childhood and I’ve always hated how they’re streaky and eat the paper. The first time I used alcohol markers was like stepping into heaven.
I don't know how you manage to pull off such epic works of art with such cheap supplies. You are seriously one of my idols. Keep up the amazing work, Jazza!
You can create amazing art with low quality supplies too! It just takes a strong understanding of your medium (which Jazza at least appears to do quite fast, but he probably takes more time off-camera to get a feel for the supplies). Of course, I highly recommend at least having student grade supplies if you can afford it, but with a strong understanding of your medium, you can create high quality work with low quality supplies.
*The factors I know of that go into this:* Education of some sort on the elements of art and principles of design (learning about these and variations you can make/see will help you to use them), how trained hand muscles are and your eye-hand co-ordination, and how comprehensive your visual library is (images/pictures you remember, you draw upon these when creating art from your imagination. This includes art styles you've seen others use!) are a few that I know of that have a big impact on my artwork. *It helps to study* (either making observations, or drawing said observations) objects from real life/pictures (or in other words, to *use a reference when trying to draw something* ). It aids you in creating details that you didn't really look for and consciously note before. *Tip for drawing from a reference:* you might use a grid in front of it, and fill in individual squares on your paper. This trains you to draw what you see, since your focus is zoomed in on the lines and values in one spot, (for example) instead of what you imagine your subject looks like overall. (Drawing what you imagine you see can be an issue if your visual library is lacking in, for instance, anatomy or detail information.) Whew! ODGaming I tried drawing a dog, didn’t end up well.....I SCRIBBLED THE PAGE UNTIL IT RIPPED AND THEN WENT OUTSIDE AND THROUGH IT IN THE FREEZING RAIN AND THEN..... I watched it slowly die

quivvr I didn’t even know the alcohol based markers were a thing until I saw this video. I gave up on trying to buy decent materials I couldn’t afford, and instead use simple #2 pencils and have developed a realistic grayscale style as a result
quivvr i grew up with crayola, I have been drawing since I could pick up a pencil (2) and still I’ve never been able to touch an alcohol based marker ;-; mi cri evry day
These types of videos has taught me this: It's not how expensive or high quality the materials are. It's all about talent and hardwork. Now, let's just hope my family can endure a few more years worth of me practising my art.
I have to admit I really enjoy when professional artist will once in a while use the cheap supplies. Videos like this really prove that it's not necessarily the tools that makes the piece but the artist themselves.
Freya, naw it would be possible, set up in a smart way and colored in an order that lets the colors dry before another color is placed next to it. The blending only really happens if you are relatively quick about it, and it doesn't run unless you put too much down. They are still markers not water paints.
Honestly, I like how the background turned out. It makes it look like it’s almost raining. Also, my story would’ve been that the monster had stolen all of the color and the boy had travelled to get it back, but the boy had color so that didn’t work out.
My story is that every time the boy had a nightmare, he would draw it. One day all the pictures came off the page to form the monster. In order to return the monster to the pages, he had to turn it into sonething else.
Can you make a video where you make this drawing again except with the copic markers and then compare the drawing to the cheap markers like the one with the cottage
It would be a cool challenge to try and make a colored piece where the colors are inverted. And in the end we can see if it was successful by inverting the colors! Living the channel :)
Kind of like the drawing with an eraser challenge? Any other interpretation of this just seems like a normal drawing/coloring challenge with different colors he'd normally use.
samuel H. His easer challenge was really cool as well. And in ways it would be similar, but that is just black and white. When inverting all colors can be used to express their opposites in a piece. For example, the color blue is commonly what orange hues of skin looks like inverted. For example, I found an artist who paints invertly , here is the link if you wanted to look further into it. artistasdelared.com/conoces-la-tecnica-de-pintar-en-negativo-es-muy-complicada-pero-sorprende/

One thing that I would absolutely love to see is Jazza do this exact same piece but with his expensive markers and give us a side by side comparison to show “Yes you can create this with cheap markers but the other ones are worth the investment.” What is the likelihood of this?
loli_ cvnt Giant Brain: a non edible substance that is used in the form of a plastic tube inside of art equipment known as “pens” the substance called “ink” is drawn onto paper, this paper has came from trees that produce oxygen for us humans to live and draw.
For a very long time, I was a budget artist with Diy paint and cheap markers. I’m gonna admit I’m pretty proud of my past self now that I look back as an owner of an (albeit quite small) alcohol based marker collection. The slightest change just took my work to the next level and I am changed forever by these artistic luxuries
My issue is that some people think that the ONLY markers that exist are the ones illustrated at 0:37. That is, copics and crappy felt-tips. People don't seem to be aware of the middle ground.
Patrick/ /Nintendo channel what, middle ground? Crayola water based markers, while not the best, can be used in place of the felt tips as a better alternative. Plus there are several "hacks" you can use to get better blending, and you can use saved money to get better paper that won’t tear up under layering :)))))
Patrick/ /Nintendo channel there’s also ohuhu markers- MUCH cheaper alcohol-based markers. A lot of people have reviews for them, if you want to see them for yourself.
Stabilo felt pens are good. We all used them in school art class and they're not terrible. You still have to be careful because they are water based but they're so much easier to use than those really cheap crap ones.
Goofyanimal yeah I'm pretty sure they're the same markers used for those felt drawings. You know those? Where the lines are actually black felt instead of ink and you color inside of them? I used to love those
Working with cheaper supplies provide more of a challenge considering you have to take into account so many different factors. So if you could make an amazing piece with cheap supplies you’re really talented.
Me:*See thumbnail* Me: Jazza is probably going to make something awesome and the moral is going to be see you don't need expensive things to make art Me:*watches video* Me: *I* *knew* *it*
Wait, those are the same exact markers i won as a _special prize_ they broke within a month, meaning so many broke that i couldn't color anything without making it look like garbage because of the remaining colors, the first one broke within 2 weeks tho i think thats a world record
Well...I have similar markers like the 10¢ one and I have it for almost 3 years and it's still alive (but sometimes the color dissapers ) (Really I'm not Joking)
I love your videos. You don't talk down to your audience about expensive and cheap art supplies. We all want "the best" especially Americans. Its in our culture bigger =better. (Most of know thats not always true, yet we still want bigger and better.) There are a lot of people watch that do not have the budget for high end art supplies. Some of us (ok me) couldnt paint the side of a barn. There also may be kids watching. Seeing you show how cheap (or less expensive) can be used to get something nice is good. You make it fun and hopeful. I like your positive attitude and you make me smile.
Woah...I had these markers as a kids.... This artwork you just made is amazing..Hoooooly crap I'm freaking out maaaann.. I actually like how the black background turned out as well!
Marilyn, Aka, Mary, the abandoned animatronic cat I think it was because they'd dry out pretty fast, and when they did, they'd start making this horrible sound when I'd draw with them. Also, some of the caps wouldn't stay on, so my hands would be covered with marker stains, and they would always fall out of their box and it was really annoying.
I didn’t even know the alcohol based markers were a thing until I saw this video. I gave up on trying to buy decent materials I couldn’t afford, and instead use simple #2 pencils and have developed a realistic grayscale style as a result Because let’s be honest, cartoon-esc art is t as much fun without color
Jazza: cheap look Me:amazing piece of artwork that I can never do when I was little and I wish I could do because that looks like flipping a million dollars right there or pounds or euro.
I use these all the time. They don't suck if you know how to work with them. You just need to buy multiple packs. And by "good markers" do you mean copics?
Dat Asian Guy I know. I was just saying that he's really talented and I'm taking my brothers crapy Crayola brand supplies so I can try this challenge myself 😂
Memyselfandkai :/ I know I'm sorry 😂I didn't mean it like that. I feel so bad like I'm offending everybody right now.. And to everyone else who I might have offended.. I'm sorry and can we please just watch draw with Jazz and together and sing kum by a 😂😂
I thought that he wouldn't manage to make something good with these markers and i was ready to leave the video but then i was like "This is jazza, of course the will make something awesome"
I rewatch Jazza’s older videos a lot and after all these years this art is still incredibly impressive. I like rainbow and vibrant colors so I guess that’s why I like it so much. The vibrant colors work really well with the black background.
The cheap ones are kinda cool because the black background looked like it was raining

He has, he did it with a cottage. It's an old video but yup, it's been done! 😄
At least u can afford those 10cents markers 😭
Cantoons haha!
Cantoons the markers aren't worth 10 cents, on one of them is worth 10 cents
Thats not funny ¿are you pore?
yeah
star is the best it’s just a joke
Was surprised you had enough black to cover the background XDDD
Even if I get the most amazing markers in the world, my art will never be this good.
Kaitlyn OKeeffe practice....
U can't practice it if you don't have talent for it.
jakubkoje that’s just rude... Leave her alone man, practice enhances talent ANYONE can be an artist because if you put in the effort you can be anyone
I was talking about myself. I didn´t wanted to be rude ;)
jakubkoje Talent doesn't really exist, no one is good at something without practincing ALOT.
I actually really liked the background because it looked rain
yeah like a rain of ink along with the dripping of paint
Snakes are awesome that's exactly what I thought
smol brain: ink
BIG brain: ART LIQUID
loli_ cvnt Giant Brain: a non edible substance that is used in the form of a plastic tube inside of art equipment known as “pens” the substance called “ink” is drawn onto paper, this paper has came from trees that produce oxygen for us humans to live and draw.
Exactly!
Who said it wasn’t edible?
Forget challenges, I want Jazza to make the best peice of art he possibly can using the best materials he has!
Stettafire
Like what? I havent heard about that
Patrick/ /Nintendo channel what, middle ground? Crayola water based markers, while not the best, can be used in place of the felt tips as a better alternative. Plus there are several "hacks" you can use to get better blending, and you can use saved money to get better paper that won’t tear up under layering :)))))
Patrick/ /Nintendo channel there’s also ohuhu markers- MUCH cheaper alcohol-based markers. A lot of people have reviews for them, if you want to see them for yourself.
Xylene markers (Whiteboard Markers)?
Stabilo felt pens are good. We all used them in school art class and they're not terrible. You still have to be careful because they are water based but they're so much easier to use than those really cheap crap ones.
In all fairness, the cheep markers aren't made to blend/shade colors. They're more for just coloring and your standard doodling.
Goofyanimal yeah I'm pretty sure they're the same markers used for those felt drawings. You know those? Where the lines are actually black felt instead of ink and you color inside of them? I used to love those

I challenge Jazza to make art out of silly string
Edit: Wow over 100 likes
Swishie that’s a silly idea 💡 lol 😂
ruclips.net/video/wYBypA_z3gE/видео.html
Just look!
Hand Draw there's no silly string there, is there?
Working with cheaper supplies provide more of a challenge considering you have to take into account so many different factors. So if you could make an amazing piece with cheap supplies you’re really talented.
Those are basically the markers i grew up with in kindergarten, and i thought those were good then.
concerned German or why Kindergarten
Nope. I had them too, i didnt thi k they where good i hated them, then again im picky when it comes to art suplise, even though i SUCK at it :p
Let's Foxy because kindergarten is a German word that the English adopted
Bist du ein Deutscher oder ein Österreichischer Wappler?😉
@@evelynillarionova8023 Its kindergarden in english. He asked if concerned is german because he wrote kindergarten.

Me: Jazza is probably going to make something awesome and the moral is going to be see you don't need expensive things to make art
Me:*watches video*
Me: *I* *knew* *it*
Uses terrible markers. Still makes it look amazing.
Magic! ✨
Thanks for drawing Xabio I love it! 💙💙💙😘😘😘
Hahahhaa yow xabio

What is my life
Xabio Arts B. Cool
Cough cough (Collab) cough
Wait, those are the same exact markers i won as a _special prize_
they broke within a month, meaning so many broke that i couldn't color anything without making it look like garbage because of the remaining colors,
the first one broke within 2 weeks tho
i think thats a world record
Keirstyn Kat where’d you win them from?
Well...I have similar markers like the 10¢ one and I have it for almost 3 years and it's still alive (but sometimes the color dissapers )
(Really I'm not Joking)
That must be a good "special" prize
@@pixelpixel6520 I have 3$ brush pens but the black is thick and the others aren't
Even with cheap markers he can still draw better than me...
When I’m using a tutorial 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂😂😳
Can you do this work again with the alcohol based markers ?
LilMeln that would be a really good idea
Yes
Is it just me or when he uses crappy *things* it still turns out great.
I MEAN GREAT!
Fan: Jazza, how were the markers?
Jazza: Obnoxious but consistent.
XD
I love your videos. You don't talk down to your audience about expensive and cheap art supplies. We all want "the best" especially Americans. Its in our culture bigger =better. (Most of know thats not always true, yet we still want bigger and better.)
There are a lot of people watch that do not have the budget for high end art supplies. Some of us (ok me) couldnt paint the side of a barn.
There also may be kids watching. Seeing you show how cheap (or less expensive) can be used to get something nice is good.
You make it fun and hopeful. I like your positive attitude and you make me smile.
OMG THERES NOTHING HE CANT DO!
Nicole Amador he can’t fly
or can he ?
Ashwin Pai but can he get out of a black hole?
goddammit! that's his one weakness
Wonder if he can make a puppet. :/ Lol
Woah...I had these markers as a kids.... This artwork you just made is amazing..Hoooooly crap I'm freaking out maaaann.. I actually like how the black background turned out as well!
Leanne Gibson don’t get me started on the black marker :-:
Everyone had these markers or knew someone with these markers as kids.. you’re not special.
when ur child wants to buy expensive colors, just show this, "SEE,TIMMY IF U HAVE ENOUGH DETERMINATION,U COULD DO THIS AND TRAINING"
lol
Now you know! It's not always about buying the best reviewed and most expensive pens and stuff, it's about the talent of the person.
OMMMMG I lovvvveee this art piece SO much!
Oh my my my my my my my god your comment.
Ok Whatever technically it's only 4 my's 😁😂
Same
Zailey Uploads this might be my favorite
Zailey Uploads bruh it’s 7
You should draw the same image as that but with expensive markers (Like if you agree)
Deadly PandaForce damn it you took my idea
Djninja24 Woohoo 😂
Deadly PandaForce thats a good idea but you're just saying that so you can get likes
Doooo IT
Yes please!!!!
Oh man, I remember those markers. My mom got a set of 250 of them, and they would just fill me with RAGE.
Samifer Destiel but why?
Marilyn, Aka, Mary, the abandoned animatronic cat I think it was because they'd dry out pretty fast, and when they did, they'd start making this horrible sound when I'd draw with them. Also, some of the caps wouldn't stay on, so my hands would be covered with marker stains, and they would always fall out of their box and it was really annoying.
Signs of a great artist. A whole story for every single art piece.
Oh alcohol markers? Guess ill drink my painting
😂
Shadow Meder lol
woooooow XD
@@jokercaard5233 wooooooooosh
@@jokercaard5233 whoa it's called a joke don't need to take it so far

It's too late :'(

So do I (•-•)
StevieStyle Omg me to 😂
I see you EVERYWHERE lmao
I didn’t even know the alcohol based markers were a thing until I saw this video. I gave up on trying to buy decent materials I couldn’t afford, and instead use simple #2 pencils and have developed a realistic grayscale style as a result
Because let’s be honest, cartoon-esc art is t as much fun without color
Oh...was it embarrassing that u didn't know about alcohol based markers well to u?
Helvítishundur87 try prismacolor colored pencils
@@SerenityScratch those are pretty expensive too
The Gran Tourismo no they aren’t. You can get a pack of 24 for $20. That’s not even $1 per pencil.
Jazza: cheap look
Me:amazing piece of artwork that I can never do when I was little and I wish I could do because that looks like flipping a million dollars right there or pounds or euro.
it’s a million dollars in Zimbabwe instead tho lol
Or pesos
Edit: but you’d need a LOT of pesos to make a million Canadian dollars
Can u redo this with the good markers
I use these all the time. They don't suck if you know how to work with them. You just need to buy multiple packs. And by "good markers" do you mean copics?
Yass
It won't be that memorable
oh my gwaa 😱 you are gifted...im now stealing my six year old little brothers crapy art supplies 😂
Izzy Y art isnt something that can be passed through genes it takes years of practice to be good at art
I'm sorry and can we please just watch draw with Jazz and together and sing kum by a 😂😂
does every fucking reply to ur comment have to bee someone getting offended? lmao
Yeah. It's okay. 😂😂that's just my life
I thought that he wouldn't manage to make something good with these markers and i was ready to leave the video but then i was like "This is jazza, of course the will make something awesome"
I rewatch Jazza’s older videos a lot and after all these years this art is still incredibly impressive. I like rainbow and vibrant colors so I guess that’s why I like it so much. The vibrant colors work really well with the black background.
