Hi! I am an intern working on a process to use satellites to identify oil spills, and we have to make a video presentation at the end. Can I use short parts of this video in the project?
did u use the vid?
There has been an Oil spill in my country two days ago. We see animals covered in petroleum that are agonising. The authorities have said that they will take care of them but they do not respond fast and we, regular people, want to help. Is there a way in which we can help animals getting rid of this substance? Should we bathe them with just water or can we use another thing? I’m from Peru
I worked for Tagg Gornall. A marine mammal vet.
A harbor seal pup was brought to us covered in bunker oil by the National Marine Fisheries., Steve Jefferies.
First thing that came to mind was Goop hand cleaner. That's what I used to clean grease and oil off my hands after working on a car.
Any kind of hand cleaner with lanolin works better than any soap/detergent.
For the best cleaning, let it sit on the animal, sea bird, otter, etc. as long as possible. Don't mix with water.
Also doesn't harm the animals if some gets into the eyes. Not like a detergent. Rinse with cool water. Results are astonishing.
