Amish Friendship Bread Starter and Bread.
This bread is sweet and dense and taste like banana bread but without the bananas.
It's a 10 day process but I think it's totally worth the effort. I was gifted a bag of starter and it's my first time ever using started so this process was really fun to try. I'm glad I got to make a video, showing the process.
The recipe I was given with it is very simple and doesn't explain everything well. So I found a recipe online that follows the same steps and ingredients that I used with the expecting of the spices and I didn't add baking soda to my bread.
The extra spices I added were:
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp cardamom
    1/4 tsp nutmeg
Here are the links to the starter recipe and then the bread recipe.

I love that you can share not only the bread that you make but keep passing on the starter too. I'm very thankful for the wonderful gifted started from my friends Mother. Thank you Magua.
    Happy Baking!

I'm surprised no one noticed those are pecans not walnuts. But both are tasty. I made this in the 80s and recently recieved a starter. The new recipe didn’t include all the different variations as the original. So I'll be experimenting with it. Thank you for your version

Thank you for your wonderful comment! Yes, they are pecans, I don't usually have walnuts and I think the ones I used were actually candied pecans that a friend gave me that she made. I hope your friendship bread turned out perfect for you. 😊

Thanks for the recipe for the starter. I’m looking to do it again for you a long time it was given to me years ago with just the starter package but I stopped it. I had no way of starting again.

I was wondering if you added just one box of instant pudding mix? The recipe you linked says 2 but your bread looks fantastic and it looks like you just added one. I'm wondering if that works better 😊

Absolutely you can use just 1 box of pudding mix. That's what I did. (I also only had 1 box in my pantry 🤣) you don't have to use 2 boxes. Mine turned out great with just 1. Good luck 🍞 I hope it turns out amazing for you!

Wonderful and honest (with any mistakes) video! I only have one question, I was told never to leave any milk sitting out or it will spoil. How is it that this milk in the pantry is still ok? I mean, people have been doing it for years but it is hard for me to break this habit of putting it in the refrigerator.

Thank you! To be completely honest, I have no idea how the milk doesn't go bad, but I'm guessing it's because of how the yeast reacts with the rest of the ingredients while it's in the pantry. I don't know how it works but it does and turns out delicious when it's turned into bread. 🤣
