I used to live in Santa Barbara California. I worked for people who are Scientologists. My boss said he would give everybody $75 if we went to a meeting for Scientology. So I went to the meeting I listen to what they said they put us in classroom type desks and asked us all sorts of personal questions. They found out I’m married with one son. They found out that I had money. And they wanted to meet my wife. I said well I don’t know about that. They also told me that everything I told them was confidential. I went to work the next day my boss said he would give me another $75 if I took my wife. So I took him up on it. Boy did they hook her. Hook line and sinker she fell right into it. But they knew that I was the purse strings. So they called me in again this time alone to a different person who supposedly was a clear whatever that means and he pushed me hard. Again told me everything was confidential which I knew it was bull crap. They asked me what I thought about my bosses, they told me they were like priests or something in Scientology. I told him that if they are so-called higher-ups in church the Church of Scientology then I wanted nothing to do with it. That’s all I said. The next day I went to work sat at my desk, and mind you I was the top engineer technician. I had one office but I traveled between Santa Barbara and Thousand Oaks to two other locations to keep everything running smooth technology wise. I had nothing on the board I just sat at my desk doing nothing. This went on for two weeks I would go to work sit at my desk and read magazines. So I just quit. The bad part about this was my wife kept going to their crap. She wanted to give them all our money, my vintage Mustang and everything we owned should go to them. So I divorced her. To this day she hates me. They didn’t get any of my money and they don’t like me. I got a job the very next day so It didn’t bother me at all. So between my ex employers and the church of Scientology they helped to destroy my marriage. It all worked out for the best and I want to thank them for that. My wife didn’t have a job and couldn’t rub two nickels together so they weren’t very interested in her. They just wanted my money. Money that belong to me and to me only. Money I had long before I met my wife. After her situation fell apart with the church she wanted to come back and I said absolutely not. You chose me over what I considered a cult. She said they had her confused she didn’t know what she was doing, obviously. So watch out people it’s a scam.

Wow, I never thought about how lucky I was to not get entangled in this web of conspiracy called Scientology. I was a cook at Bob's Big Boy in Riverside, CA. One night while hitching home, back into downtown from work, this couple picks me up. They start espousing the virtues of Scientology, and invite me to a big conference they are having downtown. They stop in front of the place, and let me out, and there are people outside, people inside, all seeming to be having fun. I was 17, but a smart kid, and knew this was some kind of religion I didn't want to follow, or know about so I walked the rest of the way home, about 10 blocks away. My dad taught me well, and I have not looked back on this until now so thanks for that memory. 👍✌

+juliush6969 The official Dianetics and Scientology literature consists of 22 million words written by LRH? That is excluding his novels. Not sure if I remember that number correctly but it's in that order of magnitude. The critics love to cherry-pick that one subject (as far as I know, the name "Xenu" is only mentioned twice in those 22 million words and only after 1966) I guess because that is the furthest away from the worldview of regular people. It is not at all representative for the bulk of Dianetics and Scientology theory.

    • @juliush6969
      @juliush6969 5 лет назад +14

Peter I have heard of some of LRH’s theories, such as how the reactive mind functions. I just cannot cotton to a religion that insists on separating family units (if the critics are to be believed). If this is your belief system and it gives you peace, then that’s fine.

    • @petersteenkamp
      @petersteenkamp 5 лет назад +9

+juliush6969: when LRH discovered that some Scientology staff members used his disconnection policy to break up families, he ordered that the disconnection policy was not to be used on family members. Also he gave the order that ethics officers were not to interfere with a members' sexual activities. However, the current Church regime (i.e. David Miscavige) pretty much reversed those LRH orders. One of the many reasons why independent (freezone) Scientologists claim that the Church of Scientology under David Miscavige no longer represents correct Scientology (the religion).

I was once hired to protect a Scientology defector in a different country. She was being harassed, followed and intimidated by two teams of two persons. I fixed the problem within one week of being hired... with a boken... had a firearm but didn’t need to use it. I also took their drivers licenses so they would know I could find them if they kept bothering my client.
I cant believe how easy some people are stalked and intimidated... simple fix... just take it to the bad guys... they never expect it. That was my usual MO in such situations... take it to the bad guys or set them up where you can mess them over legally. I charged a lot but didn’t want to hang around for too long of a time. So, I just hunted the hunters; found them; worked them over good; collected my fee and left.

Here’s my story & why I DO understand why people join:
I was 19, new to LA and had a cold.
I went in for a “free personality and IQ test” before I even knew where I was. These two women had approached me and asked if I wanted to participate in it.
They were polite and seemingly intelligent. So I said sure.
Everybody in that building was dressed to the nines and smiling.
They put me with a guide (man) to show me around.
My “guide” was a trumpet player from Chicago. I’m a trumpet player from Chicago. I had told the lady that took me in, that detail. They choose your best fit guide for further manipulation.
My “guide” would walk by other Scientology people and say things like “she has a cold” and snicker. The other members would reply things like “awww, I remember colds! It’s been years” and they assured me, they don’t get colds anymore.
They took me into this room with a bunch of other people taking the test. They had me take this 100 question exam. Started normally. Regular old IQ questions. They put a radio next to me, playing ocean wave sounds, but it had very heavy static happening.
The questions got progressively more mentally invasive. They went from math questions, and by the end, they were asking things like “if your mother disowned you, what would your reaction be?” And weird shit like that.
They told me I had a genius IQ, and that I was incredibly anxious. “Oh, you poor thing! You’re so smart, genius in fact, but you’re in so much pain. We can help you with that.”
Then, They put me in a room alone.
    Guide walks away.
It’s videos of people in pain, people dying, people in stressful situations, with red lights ALL over everything. The floors, the walls, the bench I was sitting on all had LED lights to portray this red color, while the “pain” videos were playing.
Then they showed people in joy. Winning the lottery, child being born, getting a raise, etc. all of the lights were now blue. Whole room was bright blue. The music of the video changed from eerie to hopeful. And the video started talking about how the mind can overcome any pain.
The guide came back in, very calm and quiet, sat with me for 15 minutes which I barely remember somehow, but got me to take $100 cash out of my pocket. I was short on rent at the time, and very careful with money.
Homeboy convinced me that my “mom would help with rent” and “if I don’t pay rent, I won’t die” etc.
to this day I’m not sure what manipulation tactic worked on me. Perhaps all of them. But I paid this stranger $100 while being stressed about rent.
They arranged that I would be picked up from my house the next day. A guide would pick me up and drive me back to my “course” in the morning.
When I got home, my roommate snapped me the fuck out of the trance, showed me the videos about the church of Scientology, etc. I didn’t even realize, the entire time, up to that point, that the “Dianetics course” I was about to take was Scientology. They don’t have that title anywhere visible.
    I was in AWE.
    I called to cancel.
    They didn’t take that.
The guide who was supposed to pick me up came and parked outside of my house for the next 2 weeks at various times. Always dressed to the nines, always watching.
I got phone calls 3x a day for the next month. I ended up calling the “head whatever” pastor guy and threatening the police for harassment. The “head master” started stuttering when I mentioned the law.
They’ve sent letters to my parents house in Chicago. To my siblings. I NEVER told them my previous address. So they’re insane enough to look you up, and your family, to stalk you further.
I understand how weak people, who didn’t have a roommate to come home to, stay.
    It’s fucking sick.

My guess would be, passing each “course” level meant “yep, they’ve been brainwashed enough to start saying crazier shit”
Probably ultimately leading to the belief of “guy on a spaceship will come save us one day” and “disown all of your family that disagree”
They get the power through studied methods of manipulation.
The static sound, complimenting my IQ, calling it a pity that I was anxious, promising no colds, matching me with the most like minded to me and therefore “most trustworthy” guide, the colors of the lights, the music in the videos. It’s all subtle but it adds up and weakens you.
I wish I could somehow stress more, there’s no way in hell I’d have handed that $100 away. I had just gotten off of a call to my cousin, crying, asking for $50, because rent was short. I was out of options and they still got it out of me.

The more you pay and rise in the ranks, the more 'scriptures' you get to read. Some people realize it all lies and they escape, some, cant, others, double down on their illusion because they cant face the fact their whole reality were lies. At the end of it, yes it all a cult one failure of a man started to get power and money and got way too big and now they have the capital of a small country.

10 years ago I was an actor in LA. I went to an audition at the Scientology center on Fountain for one of their videos. After the audition, I went to leave and instead was lead into some sort of room, closed the door behind me and started playing a weird scientology video. I immediately exited the room, said my audition was over, and where is the exit...(this place is huge, like a castle, no windows, etc...)... again, they do not lead me to the exist but instead up a flight of stairs and into a weird room that looked like a library where people were sitting in silence studying. they proceed to tell me that I MUST sign up for this course because I need it to help change my life. and that point, I lost it. I told them that I came there for an audition, not to join scientology, that I keep asking to leave - and they keep leading me into different rooms. they wouldn't listen and kept telling me I needed to sign up for this course. I finally had to literally PUSH MY WAY past a number of people, run down the hall and find the elevator. I get in the elevator and they FOLLOW ME IN. as the elevator is going down they keep hammering me about needing this course... I get the bottom, the doors open and I RUN out the door and THEY FOLLOW ME OUTSIDE.. screaming at me about the course. they were insane.

I refused multiple times saying I just wanted to buy a book. He then left the room and was gone for a while and then came back with the book and I paid him. He gave me my change which was more than I had given him. So I left with the book, my money back and extra money on top. So was this just a mistake or was this intentional? Doesn't surprise me. I was depressed after my grandmother died, and a Scientologist I knew used that to try to hook me. I did two courses over two weeks, but I quickly grew suspicious of why they were insisting that I not do my own research about Scientology. They claimed it was potentially damaging to my mental health if I learned their material too quickly. That tripped my BS detector, so I went ahead and did it anyway.
That's when I learned about Xenu, thetans, Sea Org child trafficking, Shelly Miscavige, and most importantly Flo Barnett, whom I believe was murdered. When I took this information to my recruiter and confronted him, all he did was try to assassinate the characters of Leah Remini and Mike Rinder despite the fact that I didn't get my information from either of them. I could hardly believe it. I thought I knew this guy, but it turned out that I didn't know him at all.

One of my two friends then asked jokingly: "Is there beer and weed?" We laughed out loud, but the guy said: "If you want beer, you're welcome." So he bought two six-packs of lager. We sat down in the store and drank the beer in one go. The guy then wanted our names and addresses. I said “No, I’ve just given you an hour of my time and I want the results of my test”. “Get out, now”.
