VMs are great! Also good for security if you want to use an app or do something that might compromise your main OS.
This is where I'm at, I mostly use Linux trying to run SBC's, make mistakes I don't understand, and just reflash everything. Thanks!
VMs would be better coz you can make instances / snapshot and roll back when you break them or want experiment something wild.
