You're a solid teacher. Thanks for making this video. I have a 2012 X5 and this is the exact issue I'm having. I have a leaking oil filter housing and oil cooler housing. I appreciate you mentioning the socket sizes that we need to do this. Thanks!
great video. it has helped me with this job. by the way, that hidden intake manifold bolt in the back was easy to get to. took me two seconds to remove with just a socket an small extension.
Just completed my DIY gasket replacement using your guide, many thanks! P. S. Had to unattach one more hose to gain access to the lower bolt, for some reason this step is missing in the video.
@SaltCityEuros It is attached with two bolts right next to that bottom bolt (the one that is oriented upwards at an angle) of the filter housing - it blocks access to it so I had to remove it first.
Great video! I plan to tackle the same job on my 2012 X5 xDrive35i. Can you tell me which fuse you removed to cut off the fuel pump for priming the oil so the engine doesn't start? I'm guessing it's the F105 30A Fuel Pump Control in the rear cargo area panel but can you confirm?
Did you ever figure out if this is the correct fuse? My 2013 X5 xdrive35i lists numbers 18, 105, and 122 next to the fuel icon on the diagram. My 105 is a 20A.
Great tutorial! But imo it’s better to take off the intake manifold completely and replace the gaskets, and it’s good to check the intake valves for carbon build up.
Great video, very relevant for N55 drivers. Salt City Euros/Anyone: There was a lot of oil that splashed up in the engine room over to the driver’s side. I image that oil dripped on the drive belt (serpentine belt) and then splashed up. Is it a good idea to replace the belt at the same time if there is lots of oil on it? Or the oil won’t really matter?
I had a whole segment where I spent time trying various tools to get in there, to show how tight the clearance is. I couldn't even fit a slim 8mm wrench in there...It's just not possible in my opinion
@saltcityeuros Great tutorial, I attempted this over the weekend, it went smoothly, so I thought, until I took it for a test drive. Turns out the oil cooler cracked right where the first baffle meets the mounting plate by the upper left bolt. I'm not sure if it was cracked before the work, but after, it cracked to the point where oil was spraying everywhere while driving. I torqued all the bolts to 16 ft-lbs. I also noticed a small leak at the oil filter housing to engine gasket. Any tips for improving the seal with the gaskets? Have you ever used anything on the gasket (oil, grease, rtv?) It's all tore back apart waiting for the new oil cooler to arrive. Thanks in advance!
I have a berry important question after you finish all bolts you Ned to do something in coolant sistem I see mor videos and people said you needed because you damage the engine l have a 2014 BMW X5 xdrive35i thanks

@@scottlevy3274 happy that was an easy task
Thanks man👍. You sure know how to make teaching easy.

@@YTKolyan hey thanks for the feedback. Would you mind being more specific which hose you had to move?

@ thanks for bringing this up. Sometimes things get lost or missed during filming/editing, it’s hard to remember all the details :)
Really good tutorial - thank you. Actually a very straight forward job.

Did you figure which is the fuse , pls update ?

Very true and the correct way, also a lot of hours of more work

Great DIY as usual. I used your N52 tutorial video for my car. 👍
That’s awesome!!! Hope it was helpful, thank you for watching ❤️
Who else misses the e30 content?
Sick dude! New garage and everything!
So stoked on it! I no longer hate being in it
Great video and quality is superb, super proud of your success bud 👏🏽
What is the torque for those bolts?
This kind of stuff is why I went back to an E46 :-) I wonder if a Torx spanner could get that bolt out without removing the manifold?

Very informative video, thanks for posting. How long should the whole job take? I haven't decided if I will do it myself or go to a mechanic.
I would set aside 3-4 hours to be safe
Superb video!
Nice and complete tutorial !
I hope it is easy to follow, even if I get super wordy sometimes haha
Thank you, it’s very useful
well done! nice to see your new video.😍

Can you share what fuse you pulled for the fuel pump?

Is priming the oil necessary after installation?
Yes it is recommended, and part of the procedure. See the description of the video for details. Sorry for not putting that in the video
Do I have to prim it after the work done?
Yes make sure you prime the system. There is a link with some info in the description, hope it helps
Soo that mickey mouse flange that's on the n54, you don't have that on the n55 x5?
how long did it take totally?
for what seems like a simple job, it turned out to be gigantic pain the butt and a huge mess on the floor.
Very good content. Can you come to London and do mine please? 🤦🏾♂️🙏🏽🤷🏾♂️😂
Nice
Zu mordern für mich ;), aber trotzdem klasse Video Nico! :-)
Danke dir :) hoffe bald wieder ein paar E30 Videos zu haben
Do you have to prime the engine before start ? some people claim air pockets in the system and it kills the engine within a few miles
