- This job was nuts. Tons of work, and multiple repairs layered onto what felt like an overwhelming project. But we got it done and this X5 is finally leak-free! Here we will service the front diff, replace the thrust bushings, replace the oil pan gasket, and have a little fun.
Here are some of the tools I used to make this repair easier:

You are the real deal....i have been delaying this repair forever....i dont have a lift but still, had one, would make another excuse. Kudos
Thanks, I appreciate that. I really didn't want to do it either. I'm definitely blessed and grateful to have the lift. Now I need to work up the courage to change the pan gasket on my wife's 2016 X5. It just had its first drip from the pan this past week that made it to the floor.
@@DrivingForwardBuildsthey are contagious those leaks, park them separate 😂😂😂
@@anaestereo810 That's a darn good idea.
I drain into a clean new $5 bucket from lowes. Then pour it right back into the engine.
I had a bucket ready to go but in this case I figured an additional change might help with my Vanos issues.
You never mentioned the steering pump on the front
Good catch. The video may not have been any good there and got removed.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds that's the part I'm stuck on doing this job.
@@danatuttle9099 darn, the pump from what I remember wasn't too bad to get on and off. You have to remove the pulley, then the bolts are right there. I don't have active drive which uses the bigger pump.
the x6 wasn't ever made with an n52 it had the n54 instead until the 2011 lci came and introduced the n55 to the x6 and x5 i thoight
Good point. I believe they share the oil pan design though.
Leaky Leaky
It will be so nice when I have all the leaks taken care of. My driveway hates me right now, even with the cardboard.
