Thank you! Mines was the exact same problem (thought it was radiator or hoses, so glad I came across your video) $20 part from Amazon & 1 hour work probably saved me $500 if taken to a mechanic.
Nice. My hose broke the exact same way. They have aftermarket ones made of aluminum but I'll just stick with OE plastic. Mine lasted about 100k miles. Love those Milwaukee ratchets. Make life so much easier. Thanks for uploading.
Mine failed the same way. Got the aluminum head from ebay and it's still running strong after a couple of years. The aluminum head will last forever. And it's a much easier DIY job as you don't need to go under the car to unhook the hose.
But I agree that it's peace of mind to replace a new hose. Perhaps just wait and do all that in one shot with waterpump/thermostat replacement.
thnx alot for sharing, it helps alot ❤️❤️❤️
Can I ask how you got the broken part out of the engine ?
Great tutorial thanks
hi
great one. the screws under the car are NOT screws. they need 1/4 - 1/2 turn only
Thanks for the video
Mine was all deteriorated, is amazing at 100k milles. How a 65k dollar car come with this cheap Material hose,
What is the bolt head size on the hose ?
What year and model x5 was this? I'm having the exact same leak at the exact same spot.
2013 x5 35i with the n55 6 cylinder engine.
@@radieseltech6417 Awesome thank you!
How do u know it was this hose connector????
I was losing 1qt of coolant every 2 weeks. After a 15 minute drive i shut off the engine, and looked for coolant leak with a flash light. The coolant was dripping down on the belt. You can pressure test the system also. But that would require buying a pressure tester, and the proper connector to fit on the reservoir.
How much should I pay my local Michanic to do this job?
How much did you end up paying?
What's the name of the hose? Or part number?

Great video. Should follow up with more on how you did the bottom part of the hose. Had the exact same issue on my 2013 X5 with 120k miles. Replaced the coolant flange while I was on a cross country road trip. I should have done the hose the same time because it started leaking later into my trip. The mechanics at an auto shop in Virginia were cool enough to let me use their tools to do it myself. It should only cost about $200 for the average shop to get completed. You can buy the full kit or just the flange. www.bimmerworld.com/Aluminum-Coolant-Flange-N51-N52-N54-CHC0609.html
Excellent video, however you should wear gloves for your own protection and for aesthetic purposes.
Thank you, i will keep that in mind.
