Hey, quick question ... is the expansion tank a 'circulating' type? I have this 2005 BMW X5, same tank as in this video. Mine broke in 2 pieces at the seam and won't hold liquid. In fact, mine broke at the weld as described in the description. Will it be possible to drive with the expansion tank in this condition?
Trust me if I could have I would have, it ended up being a POS, and I was unable to get the camera down in there. I basically had to twist the reservoir.
Depends on how fast I need them, if the car is broken down I get them from O'Reillys, if its preventive maintenance I get them from RockAuto, and sometimes Bavarian.
Very helpful. I am having the same issue with my X5, and it has not hit 60K miles yet. I am going to remove the reservoir and check it out. Thank you.
Use a small hook to pull the metal release on the bottom hose connection. The way he is describing that step is very difficult.
You are the best channel out there for E36's. Mine's an almost mint '94 325i vert with 39k on her. Your vids have help immensely. TY :)
Marcus Triton 39k miles on a 1994? Was it sitting for 10 years
Thanks a lot! Glad they've helped!
Sorry you had to replace this after only 60,000 miles. Annoying! But thanks for making the video. This helped me out a ton!
No problem! Yes I was not a huge fan of our X5, glad we got rid of it to be honest!
Great Job , well explane. thnx
Hey bro, I just wanna ask you if I can do this job after driving my car and let it cool down for 2 or 3 hours? Thanks
Any idea how to quick fix the leak on the bottom fitting under the expansion tank?
So how did u figure out it was that tank was the car overheating on the highway?
Needed to see the bottom hose removal and you skipped it
U need use a small hook that u can make by yourself. It is possible move the tank a bit and you can connect your hook and pull it off.
Thanks man!
Excellent video! Would you happen to know the part# or any direction as to where I can get the bottom hose?
FCPEuro
@@mbperfection nobody has the hose for it, dealership I guess
@@larryjohnson8168 if it is not special parts , I would go autozone or carparts.com
@@mbperfection I've looked all over the internet no has the expansion tank hose and connector
@@larryjohnson8168 there should be a part number on the label , did you google the part ?

No u need a new one..plastic crap
The bottom hose is the more difficult one to get off but u failed to show how u got it off. That’s what I needed most. No help here....
Agree and how the hell u get it back on 🤷🏼
👍👍
You didn’t even show people how to get the broken off cap out the tank??
Changed mine & now the engine light came on :/
Did you check if there's wires in the plug lower sensor
You missed the important part of setting it into the space
You don't show how you take the bottom hose clip..is not so easy
