  • Alice In Chains had just returned from 1993 tour promoting their seminal album Dirt. Finding out they were homeless, upon their return to Seattle, the band members decided to stay in a recording studio they had previously rented for 10 days, while they sorted things out. The material they recorded in those 10 days eventually became Jar Of Flies, one of the records of the 90s and one of the best Alice In Chains ever made. The record is filled with iconic melodies and some of the best lyrics ever penned by Jerry Cantrell and Layne Staley, and all of this is what we'll talk about in this video.
Thank you so much for watching!

Thank you for this video, it reminded me of something that happened years ago. I remember one night in the nineties a good friend and I stayed up all night listening to music. One of my friend's heroes was Layne Staley. Just as the sun rose my friend put this album in the CD player. We were actively listening, it was not on as background music. Listening to Jar of Flies that morning was one of the most beautiful aural experiences I have ever had. Sadly my good friend died of an overdose two years ago. I will miss him greatly.

I really slept on a lot of music my dad listened to, its just growing up listening to this album especially was such a creepy eerie feeling when driving in the car. Especially that back then my Dad wasn't in the best place and was kinda abusive af.

Great cover of the album man. It's one of my favorites, and we just celebrated its 30th anniversary! I shared my thoughts on it as well, but you gave me a bit of insight I was unaware of. subbed

I have to disagree, the songwriting on "SAP" is just as strong as on "Jar Of Flies", but hey, that's just my 2 cents

Yep, SAP was great. You got Chris Cornell, Mark Arm and Ann Wilson as MudGarden. Opens so sooo strong with Brother. This got a lotta plays
