It's not the system that changes his personality, it's the things he realizes and experiences as he becomes stronger. Like how when he went into the dungeon with dongsuks party and he saw how easily they could betray, manipulate, and kill, then how the system wanted him to kill them to save himself. It changed his world view, and he understood what was going on. Didn't u pay attention to the whole sequence of events leading up to when he said "I don't even need to be angry to kill trash like you". Then again against the assassin hunter, he saw how deranged people can be which transformed him again. Like I said, pay attention to the plot points and you'll understand the system isn't making him change his personality. He's always been the same except weaker so he couldn't do anything, couldn't truly see the world for what it was up until certain circumstances happened to him, how the experiences along the way influenced him to see the world for what it was. Conniving but also sometimes amazing. Read the manhwa or actually just pay attention to his thoughts and dialogue in the anime. No hate on ur opinion, just saying it's based on misconceptions. If u truly take in solo leveling for what it is instead of judging it without any REAL info, then it's fine, but not when ur shitting on something bc u don't understand it

Personally, I don't think you cooked with this one. I respect it, though, but you're missing the point of Solo Leveling.
    (TLDR, at the bottom)
The stories main plot isn't Jin Woo saving his mother it's about his journey to the top, his self development, that's like saying HxH should've stopped the moment Gon met Ging, like common bruh, ofc that's not gonna happen, Solo Leveling is about the hype behind LEVELING UP!!! Everything else is secondary.
The money he turned down wasn't because he didn't want to save his mom. Saving his mom isn't possible with money. The hospital bills are just bills, not a cure. it's like someone going into a coma, so now that he's Leveling up, and making more money, he dosen't need to jump onto a 30billion train because now he has the ability to make more than that with his system.
Jin is more calculated than you think and understands his system a lot more than he actually lets on, but at the same time, it's still a mystery . like where did it come from? Why was he chosen? those are the main plot points of the story even though its not exactly spoken. and at the end of the day, it's a LEVEL UP SYSTEM, until his level caps out, theoretically, his power is infinite. That's what is universally understood between Jin and the watcher/reader.
Jin saving his mom is NOT possible right now, so of course he's not gonna stress about it. The bills are paid, and she's still alive. That's all that matters, like any normal person😂. of course, you worry, but Jin hasn't had his mom around and walking for years. When you get used to something, not a lot is gonna change that.
Jin winning against Igris was a little down played in the anime than the manhwa, he was reslly getting his butt handed to him in both, but he found out about his equipment system earlier than the fight which helped him in grabbing the sword, because he was wearing gauntlets. I didn't watch that much of the anime so I'm not sure if they actually showed the bit where he was picking up and equipping items, but it was supposed to be pretty early on to the job change.
And like you said, Jin abused his system and cleverly used the ability to summon his weapons. That's not an asspull. It's a mechanic. as much as you might hate a guy keeping you in a corner, not allowing you to press buttons on Tekken or something. That shit is in the game, meaning anything goes. you gave his props even though you shat on his whole triumph, sure they might not have reslly showed how much of a struggle that fight was for jin, but it wasn't that Igris was THAT much stronger, it was because Jin dosen't know what the hell he's doing, if he had some martial background thsy fight would've been a lot easier for him, but he fought with a guy with powers he's mever experienced before, who was physically stronger than him, and didn't give no F*CKS period. meaning that dub was EVERYTHING. he won that not because of the plot or some bs, but he won it with wits, by the skin of his teeth!
I can understand the complaint about some of the other S ranks talking and whst not, but the anime only scene In the first part isn't not some just world building bs, it's FORESHADOWING a future arc, that's what all the S ranks are talking about is the JeJu island raid, and the clock ticking down IF Jin Woo will be strong enough to Participate and triumph in that area. it'd building a sort of suspense, a... RISING ACTION. Now, as a guy who read the whole story multiple times, if I was watching fresh I'd be thrown off, but not enough to say the show was disappointing because of an anime only scene, people act like those scenes are the devils nut sack😂
    TL:DR
Solo Leveling is about the grind to the top, the story isn't gonna end at Jin saving his mother, so why would we rush and make every action about doing that? Especially when humans can't even do it by themselves no matter how much money you have. Jin Woo might've gotten the recipe for an elixir, BUT WHERE DO YOU GET THE INGREDIENTS!? This stuff takes time. His mom is not gonna die of anything but old age or UNnatural causes due to her sickness, so why rush to 30 billion knowing it's not gonna help, KNOWING he's now making the money to cover the bills AND. be comfortable? Now, he's just closing his opportunities before they even open. Jin Woo winning his fight with Igris was a struggle and 3 quarters in the Manwha, because I didn't watch the episode. I don't know how they expressed that here in the anime, but shitting on him for using game mechanics is WILD. Now you're just nitpicking; grasping for straws. he quite litterly HAD no other choice, it wasn't plot convenience, it wasn't plot armor, it was a reality check for Jin Woo, which playes into his inner monologe later during the timmer part of the job change, he dosen't think he's good enough, he's trying but he's barely getting by even if he's getting stronger, there's always somone better so he should just quit while he's ahead, he still had his family to look out for. etc.
Solo Levelings plot is about Jin Woo's growth, development, the hype of CONTINUOUSLY LEVELING, the mystery behind why he CAN level up, and the uncertainty of his limits.

    • @KumoBear12

Sorry I can’t respond to everything cuz you wrote so much lmao but I said him using game mechanics was a good thing, not bad. I liked it. And you say it’s not about saving his mother, but then proceed to explain how basically everything he does, he does to save his mom

@KumoBear12 not only did u misunderstand solo leveling itself but even when people explain in depth to you, u still misunderstand. Not calling u stupid whatsoever just ignorant and overlooking things. Bro explained the plot of SL, how the stories not gonna end when his moms saved, how he can't even get the things to save her yet bc he's too weak so Jinwoo has to lvl up and get better first, why he would rather continue on his own instead of falling into a trap contract with a guild. Why his mom wouldn't be his main motivation when she's not been around for years already and not dying anytime soon, how he know has the formula to make something to save her but there's other things he has to do so his mom can wait, she doesn't get healed until way later in the series anyway and even when she does she's still not a focus. Well not anymore of a focus than Jinwoo wanting to protect his loved ones by getting stronger like basically every MC LoL. It's about his journey to the top, how his experiences and strength change who he is as a person physically and mentally. Finding out the secret behind the system, who the monarchs and rulers are, why he was chosen etc etc... An opinion may have the right to be subjective but not when u don't fully understand what's going on so u shit on the topic at hand

Based on all ur comments and ur tone you're obviously biased against solo leveling for some rsn. don't try and give an opinion on something you don't understand at all. Its a Korean anime that has a Japanese and English dub, its a Korean manhwa. "JJK has more action than solo leveling" its barely been out 2 months. Just stop, like seriously, u have no idea what ur talking about like bruh come on now. No way ur stating an ignorant opinion yet ur throwing out invalid points bc u misunderstand what's going on in the story, I admit sometimes the exposition of the side characters is unnecessary but what is solo leveling doing with that that other animes don't? Everytime a character in one piece dies, backstory and sob sad story, same with demon slayer which are animes you pointed out in the video. And they both do it while taking up a whole episode, one piece does it while taking up multiple episodes. There's no anime/cinema sin in that, most animes do it so it's not rlly valid to say solo leveling is wrong for shifting of the main plot to show side characters when almost if not all anime do it ESPECIALLY ONE PIECE, BLEACH, DEMON SLAYER, AND EVEN JJK. Ur biased for no reason, look at the anime objectively, pay attention to what's going on, hell even read the manhwa if that'll help u understand. But don't go around spouting nonsense due to ignorance of the topic. It'd be different if you even slightly knew what was going on, they literally explain everything, jinwoo doesn't just get random power ups, he has realizations, mans literally been pumping points into strength since he got the system, his strength is over 100 and if stats scale to a higher level than his actual lvl (which they do shown when jinwoo was able to completely crush rasakas scales with his bare hands) it wouldn't be a stretch that jinwoo grabbed igris sword while being protected by armour. Do an actual objective watch of the anime then come back and give a valid opinion after paying attention. Understand that its Korean in the VERY LEAST before hopping on bs

@@KumoBear12 I can agree, sure it isn’t needed, but I’m assuming that scene was put in to show the brutality and what type of action type show your getting yourself into. It was most likely just to set the tone of the world snd explain essential questions that any one would have in episode one. and even touch on things that were not previously touched on in the manhwa. I agree that they could have made it a little less complicated and shown more visual representation of what they were talking about. This part was initially not included but it’s actually important. It was showcasing the previous Jeju island raid and what was going on. They also did a flash back scene for the head of the hunters guild guy( forgot his name) showing what he had lost going to that island.

There is a lots of people criticising your opinion here, but as a big SL manhwa and novel fan, i think you are pretty correct if i say so myself. I have been waiting for that adaptation for the longest time, and i would say that i am kinda disappointed honestly.
Don’t misunderstand, SL is not a bad anime, but not the revolutionary anime i was awaiting for.
I think that the original material source is truly a masterpiece, but i can’t say the same thing about the anime. It’s way to generic.
This anime should have been more like JJK or Chainsaw Man, a more darker, serious anime, because that’s how the manhwa is. But this anime has a strong « This is your typical shonen anime » vibe: simple colorimetric, bright, very basic animation (some fights exclude). And that’s just about the visual aspect.
The way each scene is structured really doesn't work in my opinion. Most of it feels to rushed, or straight up cringe.
The best exemple i can think of is the Kang fight. In the manhwa, Kang sincerely felt so frightening, he had a aura, with this creepy smile of him. But in the anime, this scene felt just cringe, i don’t know, it just doesn’t work.
The same goes for the scene where Igrit is turned into a shadow. In the manga, this scene has something solemn, with this speech that Jinwoo gives to Igrit, when he tells him to stop defending this empty throne and to serve him instead. But in the actual anime this scene is processed in the background and in less than 15 seconds when it should have lasted at least a minute. It’s so secondary that I’m sure almost everyone has already forgotten about it. And that’s only two exemples, but the entire show is actually full of this.
The same goes for Jinwoo. He feels so bland in the anime. Just your typical edgy protagonist with no personality whatsoever. He felt so much more alive and unique in the original art. I don’t know how to describe it, especially because English isn’t my mother language, but if you read the manhwa, you will immediately understand my feelings.
All around, not a bad anime. But nothing crazy imo

Note that hospital was keeping her alive but couldn't cure her, no matter what amount was paid, you should know why if you actually saw the whole thing. Later he found out about the elixir, which gave him a chance to save his mom, not just pay her bills. Thirdly, the job change adds one more responsibility for him. Here is the thing, few anime only thinking this diverts him from him original moto, which actually doesn't cz he is trying to get strong to ultimately fight the demon castle right, where he can get the elixir. We will see in next season how that goes, but his final motive, for now is still the same

As a result, he shares a close relationship with his sister and his mother, and rarely wastes an opportunity to refine his skills and gain more power. His deep bond with his family also makes him absolutely merciless towards anyone who dares to hurt them, as displayed when he massacred Groctar and his minions for attempting to kill Jinah, and murdered Hwang Dongsoo for torturing Jinho and the reason why they put those Fuller side characters in the anime because in the manhwa those side characters warrant written perfect the story just Focuses mostly on the main character it's not about the journey it's about the destination you follow the character through his struggles just like any other shonen MC that's why I actually like this character because character inspires you the most to go forward in life & hell anyone can relate to sung jin woo he is still no different from any other MC that's What Makes solo leveling interesting & great so to me the anime was not as good as the light novel💯💯💯💯

People's defenses of it are insane. Everything they claim is good about it is done infinitely better in other shows.
You want a show about a character striving to the top while developing their character and abilities along the way? MHA does that
You want a show ehere a character's purpose is just to nebulously 'get stronger', DBZ does that with way more hype.
The reason these shows do those aspects better and with way more hype is because in Solo Levelling, he doesn't actually work for any of that stuff, it just gets handed to him. He doesn't do anything real to get stronger or have character growth, it just happens sometimes just so he doesn't lose.
There is nothing exciting about that and the show has no real stakes as a result. I have no investment in any of the characters. May as well be watching a group of brick walls

I just think you should read the WEBTOON. The series is goated I promise. Rn you are watching him complete the side quest but when he breezes through main story the hype is there. I see this season one as a setup season and I think it’s doing pretty well. You’re expectations where high and it didn’t blow you away and that’s okay. You should prob say YOU where disappointed instead because the general consensus is that it did it’s job very well and paid respect to the original media and added context where the WEBTOON didn’t.

okay, in the beginning, the anime shows the juju island raid, which is exclusive to both the anime AND the light novel. it’s not an anime only scene. but I do agree with you on everything else. the story is generic, but what makes this series so popular is the main character, sung jinwoo. if he did not have an entire army in his arsenal, solo leveling would be much worse. but one more thing, the part where he grabbed igris’s sword was possible because of his item that he had just obtained, which has a passive that doesn’t allow hand injuries. great video though dude, 9/10, would come again (1 point lost for jujutsu kaisen glaze 💀)

  • @KiIZero
    @KiIZero 9 месяцев назад

The first scene was perfect if you've read the manwha. (the action scene in jeju) And allowed for an easy explanation of the world, you say they could just do the one piece route but that's just not what solo leveling is like so it's not comparable.
Jin-woo ISN'T EDGY, learn the meaning of the word please. His transformation was literally explained in the episode he transformed, his stats cause his body to change and that's a VERY big plot point for later in the story.
Jin-woo saving his mother is a reason for him to get stronger, not a goal, a motivation so he CAN save his mother, You saying the reason gons motivation is much better is because ging is shrouded in mysery and there are remarks about him throughout the story. But this is literally just jin-woo's mother.. It's NOT the whole goal of the show, so you don't need it to be like HxH.
You should just know that he's getting stronger for his mother, if you don't care watch something else. Jin-woo didn't accept jin-ho's offer of 30 billion won, because if he just keeps levelling up he could easily just earn that amount by himself so why bother the risk of publicity on his power? The show even tells you this.
Also you saying jin-woo doesn't seem to care about his mother himself is bs, he literally visits her like every other episode, but yeah you're right he doesn't care does he? I mean it's not like he's only getting stronger for her sake no? He doesn't need the 30 bill since he can already pay for her bills with the money he has, and as i said it puts him at risk to accept that deal to do 19 dungeons, Also the disease his mother has (Eternal slumber) IS UNCURABLE, so no matter how much money he throws at her it won't help! She aint gonna just stand up and start twerking because she's getting money payed for her sake. (joking around)
Ep 9, Kangs bad at his job? He called it a hobby as he's crazed, And how was he meant to know that the paths conversed and led to the same place?
Ep 11 has A LOT OF FORESHADOWING, so nothing in that fight was bs at all if you finish the manwha, everything and the reason behind certain events happening (especially in the igris fight) are explained and elevated on, so you shitting on the fight while knowing NOTHING of what it really was felt absurd lmao. Ep 11's fight truly is amazing at what it sets out to do, you only realise this VERY LATE into the story though, (I'm not trying to spoil anything), but calling that "jin-woo catching the sword because of course he does and then just kills the enemy he's been difficultly struggling with is bs" IS A LIE, Jin-woo pretended to be dead and igris was going to behead him for honour. Caught off guard from jin-woo catching his sword, he hesitates and let's jin-woo take the offensive on him and defeat him.
just incase you're still saying bs SPOILER WARNING!!! (Igris LET jin-woo beat him after holding back the whole fight, the moment jin-woo caught his sword he thought he was worthy due to his determination no matter the odds)
no more spoiler warnings now, The "random" side character throw-ins are very good character showcases that you'll care for a lot later in the show, And many of them are building a mini plot line leading to a huge story plot point, so they are shoving it down your throat for a good reason, you'll appreciate it later on.
The appeal for this show ISN'T THE "EDGY" MC, HE ISN'T EVEN EDGY, it's the growth of a lovable character which you'll understand later on (unless it just aint for you ofc) it's a show about determination and a lot more but if i say more i'll spoil.
Why are you comparing jjk a 40 + episode action show to a so far 12 episode action show? NO SHIT JJK HAS MORE ACTION, the first 12 episodes of jjk have way less action, and if anything are way worse in general (imo) same with ds and bleach (again, imo) Calling sl a bad action show but jjk a good one is hilarious to me but besides. Basing solo leveling off the first 12 episodes is just unjust, the first 12 episodes are mainly introductory to the world and some characters, the mysterious plot slowly will reveal itself throughout the show as it goes on, not trying to be a hate comment as yk, i put a lot of effort into this comment explaining why you're clearly just wrong. Still decent video with a lot of eh points, a lot of what you said just is plainly wrong but i'm not trying to hate. Have a good day or night if you bother reading this comment.

People might actually read it if you, you know, use paragraphs. As far as the series goes, it's just not that good, it's just a power fantasy for beta males that play too much vidya. It's not bad, not at all, it's just good, though the manwa art is pretty good.

just watched more of the video. Its clear to me that you didnt get all the info in the episodes. the reason he didnt accept the 30bil right away was because he didnt even know how his power would affect him nor did he know what might happen if he keeps leveling up. You seen in later episodes he now understands his power more and is confident enough to take on the contract. i just feel like you are expecting this show to be the best ever but your judging it off of its first season and arguably less than 25% of the plot. let it cook and those complaints will start dwindling down one by one. Also his main motivation to getting stronger is to save his mother yes, but he was always known as the worlds weakest huneter so he feels desperate to change his destiny. His other motivation is that the system forces him to do certain things even against his will. for example when he killed those criminal hunters in the dungeon. Just watch the show again and pay close attention to the dialogue. you clearly just missed some important info

@@KumoBear12 You asked his motivation for leveling up, that basically is it for the beginning. If youve been paying attention, occasionally they drop subtle lore hints about how sung feels there is a mysterious and or familiar power behind the system and that he does not trust it. He also doesnt want to die, so ofc he has to get stronger, especially with S ranks hunting him down. Also His MAIN motivation above all else atm is to be the strongest simply because he was known as the weakest of all mankind. He despises his old weak self and wanted change. it may seem confusing but like i said, let it cook, your questions will be answered in the next couple seasons hopefully.

    • @KumoBear12

I think him wanting to be strong because he used to be weak is a pretty lame motivation for him to have. And if that is his motivation, I don’t think he expresses that want very much🤷‍♂️

    • @nixxlol4308
      @nixxlol4308 9 месяцев назад

@@KumoBear12 like I said, he has multiple different reasons for doing things that he does. There isn’t one clear motive behind every intention. How is it lame tho? Literally every other protagonist power shounen type anime has the mc sick of being weak so he wants to get stronger. Sure those premises are more survival or vengeful, but sung is literally just surviving. He has the money he just needs the power to stay safe, that’s why he constantly levels up, also he needs to get stronger to go back to the demon castle and collect the potion. I don’t see how it’s lame.

    • @KumoBear12
      @KumoBear12  9 месяцев назад

What are some examples of other shonen mc’s have that motivation? Naruto wants to be stronger because he wants to be the hokage, but being the hokage is his main goal. Eren wants to get stronger to kill the titans, but killing the titans is his main goal. Yuji wants to get stronger to help others. I’m a bit confused

good looking colours, flashy effects, dynamic lighting, that’s compositing, NOT animation.
