    Keep an eye on transistors leads, they can also rust and fall apart. I got a Cobra 138xlr here that had a bunch of transistors with the leads rusted off.

    Corrosion from humidity, check the big one watt carbon resistors on the PA board .

      Thanks for your suggestion. The 520 has been running well since I replaced the capacitors but I will certainly open it back up and take a look at the carbon resistors.

    Picked up a used 520. I have output on cw but not on ssb. Still checking microphone, and will check capacitors. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you!
