A small note on the bezels. The new 11" iPad Air is using roughly the same dimensions as the old Air, which means it will have the noticeably bigger bezels compared to the old iPad 11". But while the 13" air also technically has 12.9" bezels, those are actually slimmer, since it uses the dimensions from the old 12.9" pro. All this means that visually you get the same slim bezels on the 13" Air as you got on the old Pros, but the 11" Air still has the bigger bezels of the older Airs. And that is to say, the models differ in their relative sizes, the 13" is not just a scaled up Air actually.
not roughly; exactly. the 11" M2 Air and the 11" M1 Air are exactly the same size and weight
But does it fit it on the old magic keyboard.
I opted for the 11” M2 Air instead of the M4 Pro because everything about this iPad is more than good enough for any professional workload, it just might be a tad slower when doing the most intense tasks. It has one of the best, if not the best IPS LCD display I’ve used and the M2 is still a full Mac desktop chip that will keep this iPad snappy for probably 7-10 years for casual use. While the M4 is the absolute best iPad ever made and the best tablet money can buy, I would describe the iPad Air as the second best and encapsulate it’s entire design and philosophy as “More than good enough”. Using it at work and at home has been great, and it’s serving as my laptop.
Sounds like you made a good move!
Paying over 500€ for a 60 Hz definitely is a bummer and a direct no for me. It’s unbelievable that Apple still offers 60 Hz with everyone else offering 90-120 Hz under 500€…
@@ricarmig So a MacBook Air wouldn’t be something you’d consider because of the screen?
@@VectorGaming4080 I don’t consider ANY device with 60 Hz screen. Be it a phone, tablet, laptop, TV and now even a computer monitor. It’s 2024, “everything” has a good screen: my legion go, iPhone pro, Samsung Tab S8, my OLED TV etc etc have silk smooth screens. Why would I pay as much or more for…less?
@@ricarmigheck my switch even has Oled, you got a point
“Don’t buy any product with the promise of what it can be…“ that statement could not be more true. I definitely let myself get burned with the M1 iPad Pro back in 2021!
I've bought my M2 iPad Air 11 inch and it just blazes through whatever casual stuff I do on it, even without the Tandem OLED, the Liquid Retina display is just so gorgoeus too!
Yeah the display looks great still!
60Hz lol
What about the battery backup man? If i play CODM with highest settings, what will be the battery backup?
@@syn010110 all videos are played in 60hz, most games only utilize 60 hz. What do you want the 120 hz for? scrolling through youtube and reddit? For about $400 more you can get it with the pro.
This is a pretty niche use case, but I’m a professional musician and I use a 2018 12.9” iPad Pro for reading sheet music on all my gigs and studio sessions. I also write music using the pencil and goodnotes. It’s such an invaluable tool for me, but the only reason I even have a Pro is the big screen. When I finally have to replace it, I will definitely be going for a 13” Air. Thanks for the great work as always!
What app do you use to write music?
Musician here. Was looking at buying an iPad but the pros are so dang expensive. Typing this on my 13” air! It’s awesome
I use onsong for my needs
@@cokiejar344I’d never even heard of this and just looked it up! Very interesting and I’ll be looking into it further. I use ForScore atm
@@RS3NDITglad to hear it :) knew it would be
Dope video Tom. iPad Air is definitely the every-persons iPad. Love my M4 iPad Pro, but it’s overkill for most people
Thanks! and yep, totally agree
The only reason that keeps me from getting the new iPad Pro M4 is its price.
Picked up the 11" iPad Air M2 day one coming from an iPad mini and I've been loving it for my note taking and basic design sketching and it's basically become my daily computer, saving my Mac for things like Xcode, Logic, and Figma (though I will still break it out every so often for general stuff too)
I’m on my iPad Air m2 11inch right now and it’s a great iPad blazing fast
is the bezel distracting??
Thanks for the review, I always enjoy them. I took advantage of the new releases and ordered the M1 iPad Air 5 when it went on sale. It'll be perfect for my use case.
Great choice, M1 iPad is still a beast
my ipad is the only 60hz device i have everything else goes 120+ and i legit dont even notice. it just didnt register until you mentioned it lmao
I feel the same when I move to my studio display which is only 60Hz, literally forget sometimes!
Same…I own the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Galaxy Tab S8+ and both have OLED screens with a 120Hz refresh rate. I bought the 13” iPad Air and my eyes don’t see a screen that on paper has half the refresh rate. When it comes to gaming…most games are 60fps so the iPad Air can play 99% of games on the highest settings
There definitely is a difference, especially if you draw
@@thetechrealistyeah that’s not true either. I draw for a living and switch a lot between my iPad Pro and my Cintiq pro 24”. It’s a static screen and pen doesn’t lag much.
@@sloppynyuszi The difference is always there but you're like me, you can get used to switching back and forth between 60/120 & getting used to both.
The incredible 2024 iPad Air is a blank canvass of unlimited possibilities.
Insanely affordable, powerful, and delightful, there's something about iPad Air that that is truly transformative in the way consumers approach technology.
I love my new air 13 coming from the 10th gen! It’s louder with better sound, bigger, brighter ..I just enjoy it and didn’t need a pro. The screen is awesome! I know it’s not as good as oled but not having them side by side I think mine is great!
I don’t need my iPad to be my Mac. I use my Pro as my main iPad, MacBook as my main computer. No need for the crazy expensive keyboard thing, but I wouldn’t be without a Pencil. iPad OS being different to Mac OS suits me fine.
Completely agree, it's ok for them to be different and serve separate purposes!
Just ordered the 13inch Air. Sounds like its going to handle everything I need it for just fine.
Keeping my iPad Air 5.
It’s literally the Air 5 with the M2 chip, better Bluetooth, slightly better WiFi chip.
I ran the specs.
yeah I like the big screen but I think i will look at 11 inch models but I am still looking at bother the ipad pro 11 inch and air. I shoot in alot of HDR so having a Air would mean the only screen with out HDR. its really hard to decide
Was considering switching from 2018 iPad Pro , for stage manager mostly, but not sure if I could call it an upgrade losing 120hz and faceID which both are quite important to me. Air is nice but once you go pro… it’s hard to move back
Really well done video! I thoroughly enjoyed it :) I’m surprised that you didn’t contrast Touch ID and Face ID. It’s such a silly thing but is one of the reasons I would go pro.
You know I thought about it but it felt so minor for me that I didn't bring it up, I don't mind TouchID at all, especially for an iPad!
That’s fascinating, maybe Face ID is a bigger deal to me (or at least I imagine it is) because I use the iPad in the Magic Keyboard more often than not; just hitting spacebar to unlock is pretty sweet. Or just sitting there for a password unlock without having to lift a finger is nice (and yes I’m so lazy listening to myself type this…)
I think I remember a lot of talk about “if only the Air had a bigger screen.” That day is here and it’s glorious! I’d even take a 12.9” regular iPad over the overkill Pro.
nice to finally have it!
the wallpaper is awesome on ipad
I just got it on Tuesday the 11 inch 128 gb and I like it
👁️ In respect to eye strain, the Air may be the better option for some people compared to the Pro with its screen not being OLED. OLED screens involve pulse-width modulation. Great review, thank you 👌
Can you recommend ipad for those with severe light sensitivity?
Especially medical student .
Thank you. I am so torn between getting the 2024 iPad Pro or the iPad Air. The iPad Pro with the size and storage I’d like is insanely expensive!
I have a 2018 iPad Pro so I’ve never had experience using the air
I was waiting for this!!! :D
ain't nobody cares what you've been waiting for ...
11 inch screen the way to go. Nicer to hold, work on and carry. 13 inch is like holding a dinner tray.
WWDC? What will we get? Really excited and depending on that will determine what I buy
I’ve just upgraded to a 256GB M2 iPad Air from a now-legacy iPad Air 2, and the difference is astonishing!
Oooh yeah, that's a huge leap!
I love the Air 13”! And it is not as heavy as I expected.
Hi, I’m in need of a new iPad, I have the iPad Pro 10.5. I use it as a tablet only. I’ll never get a keyboard case, just a folio case. Is the 13 inch over kill for handheld device? If I was going to get the 11 inch, I’m thinking the M2 iPad Pro would be the way to go. Any thoughts?
@@michaelreilly4920 I came from the latest iPad, but I was not going to pay iPad Pro money for a 13”. I use mine mainly for media consumption, and PDF reading. And I absolutely love the 13”, it truly feels like an upgrade. So my advice (presuming that finances are not a factor), go to a store to hold the 13” in your hand to make sure you like it, and go for it!
I perceive the iPad as a screen only device. For me, it is still either the basic version or the pro.
Hello, I'm your new follower
First, love ur vids
You could argue that the new iPad Airs not being compatible with the new Magic Keyboard is a benefit if you’re upgrading from an older model. You wouldn’t need to buy a new keyboard.
Im upgrading from an Air 4 and that was a big reason to not upgrade to the Pro because it was much cheaper
That's a really good point actually! Tbh I wish they were all compatible with the new keyboard and then you'd have the choice? But yeah great point!
I got a used one on Facebook for $100. It was in immaculate condition.
I upgraded from mini and pondered for a while. Plan was the air but decided to go for the pro. I have not taken cellular option this time to make more affordable. After seeing in store I just wanted the better screen, refresh and Face ID. Getting the air didn’t feel like I was getting anything extra for my money.
It's so easy to pair your phone for cellular if you need it, I never go for a 5G option on these!
I am considering making the jump from an Ipad pro 12.9 2018 to a newer Ipad. I was considering both the new Ipad Air and the older M1 2021 Ipad pro (same sizes). I can even have the M1 Ipad pro for less than the Ipad Air M2. Should I spend 100 euros more for the Air M2 or just buy the M1 Pro ? Are there big difference that warrant buying the Air ?
I’ve just upgraded from my iPad 7th generation to the 11 inch air. Arrives on Saturday
That'll be quite the upgrade!
I’m upgrading my iPad Air 2020 to this one. Not to expensive actually.
Is the folio compatible with previous air models (4th & 5th)?
I hope you don't mind a suggestion. When posting a review later than others, it might be more beneficial to skip the specs sheet that others have already covered. Instead, focus on practical use comparisons, such as how the 60Hz refresh rate compares to 120Hz in terms of battery life and performance, and which popular games support 120Hz. You could also compare handling and portability, like how it feels to hold while lying on a sofa versus the iPad Mini. Or, consider its brightness when used at night while sharing a bed. A practical use case review can offer fresh insights and stand out from the earlier reviews.
All suggestions are welcome, i will keep this in mind for the future 🙏🏻
Does the new folio work with the M2 iPad Pro, M1 iPad Pro? Similar to how the M1 and M2 iPad Pro keyboards and folios work on the new Air?
One thing I don’t think you mentioned is the differential in connector between Air & Pro. The Pro gets Thunderbolt/USB4 and the Air is just listed as USB-C. Any thoughts on the real world impact?
Great point - Honestly very little impact unless you're planning on large file transfers (like over 50GB)
Can anyone let me know if the ipad air 13” can pair with any amazon magic keyboards or other keyboards instead of buying the apple one and if so please link any suggestions
Hey, I noticed you said it’s the fully fledged M2 but that one is on the old M2 pro iPad, the Air’s M2 has 9 GPU cores not 10.
I agree. While iPads are certainly getting more and more impressive (and expensive), the lack of software to make up for the hardware is certainly a factor to consider when shopping for one. All eyes are on WWDC ‘24 👀
There’s plenty of software to take advantage of the hardware and aside from the Pros the iPad has stayed the same price or become cheaper
I think the brightness goes up to 1600 out doors for the new pro? But this was a great video. Calm and to the point. The new air is good IMO but is missing a few ticks such as higher refresh rate which is becoming the standard everywhere, non-Apple world.
(For the new pro I mean)
Considering the insane price difference between the pro and air, really just go with the air now that it's 13"
Literaly debating if i want the 11” or 13” now. Mainly use it for entertainment - youtube netflix appletv and the likes. I have the 11” now and thinking movies are better in 13”? Idk
And here I am, just happy with my iPad 9th Gen
nothing wrong with that!
Don’t need a pencil and anyone with a laptop does not need a keyboard
Is stylus compatible to this new ipad air
I’d be coming from a 2018 Pro. The drop from 120hz to 60hz did stand out to me, but as you say, I’d probably get used to it and it would be the same as my iPhone. I do think however that the tougher pills to swallow would be losing FaceID and having to stop using a perfectly good pencil and buy another one.
Awesome vid! I think majority of people should go out and get an M1 ipad air since you can often find it for 399 and I think the small spec bump for an extra 200 dollars just isnt worth it.
100% agree
In the uk a 256GB 2022 model costs £599, I may as well get the 128GB M2 2024 iPad Air after all I’ll be avoiding the woefully inadequate 64GB model.
Since the 128GB 2024 iPad Air costs £599
@@shanepatrick641 Yeah, its basically the same here in the US. I'd rather get the base model 64gb ipad air or just go to the newer one instead because apple's storage upgrade prices are abysmal. The 256gb 2022 ipad air is just as much as the new one.
Fantastic review. Do you think the 11' will do for someone brand new to Procreate and planning to use it mainly for calligraphy? Thanks!
Yep, 100%
@@ByteReview Thanks! You have a new sub!
@@potbtech You're welcome!
A pretty nuts device for any creators out there. If you’re going to end out putting a textured screen protector, its no worse than the new iPad Pro, at £599. The new Apple Pencil Pro has features no art tablet on the planet has such as the rotate functionality, which has been one of my biggest issues with digital art pens for years, you have to manually adjust the rotate value as you draw…
Next month Apple will be doing their usual £100 gift card thing, so the Apple Pencil Pro will basically pay for itself, around £629 in total. Against a similarly specced Windows laptop which will cost you £1,400 plus a good professional art tablet which will cost you £350 at least (referencing the Wacom Intuos Pro), and you’re already saving so much money for a smaller and arguably better device for this specific use case. If you don’t care about hover or rotate on the Pencil Pro, its otherwise the same as the 2022 Air, which you can currently get at £499.
Who can afford to purchase ALL new hardware every time the Apple ecosystem locks you out of previous models?? This seems to discourage upgrading and doesn't seem sustainable for consumers... (Yet, Apple has been doing this successfully for decades 🤷🏻♂) Maybe I'm more of the average user: still rocking an 8th gen and a logitech keyboard case lol. Love your stuff!! Keep it up.
ive had my new ipad air 11inch for around a week now
however i felt that the battery doesnt last very long
i can have it idling or just have discord open on it and it can use up to 10% every 30 mins
not sure if mine is defective or somethgin
I bought the same iPad and have the same experience with poor battery life. Not close to 10 hrs using RUclips and kindle apps.
I went to see the new air and pros and I honestly didn’t see any difference in the display, I don’t know if it’s my vision lol I even asked my son and my mom and they didn’t notice any difference either.
Does it use temporal dithering?
So i got my new iPad Air 11in yesterday.i wonder why in UK there’s no adapter in the the box only the usb c cable. Other unboxing videos has adapter on it.
It's an EU thing sadly, we don't get one in the box anymore 😭
hearing the apple pencil gen2 doesnt work with it... just broke my heart! I just bought this IpadAir after my older iPad pro suddenly died... and now I have to spend even moreee ;(
But how does the slower USB-C Port figure into one’s workflow, and how well does the screen handle HDR photos & videos? I have the 12.9” M1 Pro but want a newer chipset unit with a more efficient battery…
My iPad Air M1 is already all the iPad I need.
yep, hard to disagree with that!
It would be a good product, if it had 120hz. My eyes feel less strained on higher refresh rate, so I'll be picking up a used iPad Pro 2018 instead probably, which is cheaper anyways.
all that you need is the 10th gen.. or previous m1 ipad air..
I currently have iPad Air 5th Gen - waiting to see what iPad OS 18 brings to see if I need to upgrade. At this point, it would be certainly nice… but do I NEED to? Doubtful.
Hey there! I have a question, for uni. and watching movie-shows yt etc. Which one should i buy; ipad air m2 11" or ipad pro m2 11" (all of them with pencil tho) ? In my country the ipad pro m2 11" is 5k more than new ipad air so which one is better for long term? New ipad is 2 years younger and it will be get more updated that's the two reason im stuck with it: m2 pro price and update stuff... 🤷🏻♀️ and also is it big enough 11"? I want to buy the 13" but the price diff is literally 10k its so much tho. I would like to state that the iPad I bought can be updated for at least 6-7 years and that I want to use it for a very long time without lag or other problems.
I have the iPad air 11" and I bought it specifically for uni. I also have a Mac, so I didn't really see the point of getting a 13" back then. The Air is super as an everyday iPad! If you don't want to spend a lot of money, then go for the Air!
I've been thinking alot on getting a 13" iPad because I use my ipad for Sheet Music as a musician, and now that the Air is available as 13" I'll probably get one. Honestly don't see the reason for getting a pro if I'm not gonna be doing hard editing and/or gaming and etc. I mostly just use the iPad for studying, RUclips and sheet music :)
Guys please advice me, does screen refresh rate matters when it comes to watching Netflix or RUclips? I not sure will there be difference between 120hz and 60hz
nope, not at all
I would have gone with the Pro but the cost of upgrading the keyboard at the same time was just too steep. With the Air I could continue to use my old Magic Keyboard, which is in great shape. I broke my old rule of going for the top of the line. But, the cost of this stuff is starting to get out of hand for an old guy like me.
Not a bad decision at all!
After all these, I think I'll go for the M2 iPad Pro. It's pretty much got everything performance wise and just lacking the OLED screen but if you don't compare them side by side then you will never notice it anyways to begin with, and the screen on the M2 pro model is even better than that of the new M2 Air both in refresh rate and screen display technology :)
Not a bad decision at all. The M2 pro is amazing
I use a 360 hz OLED monitor on the regular and I don’t notice the refresh rate difference really at all on my M2 11 inch iPad … 120 is preferred but it’s not necessary. Would’ve been nice if they included it though. It’s 2024, cmon now.
May I ask if this new iPad Air supports the Logitech Crayon?
I heard it does…not sure tho
I have a 2020 iPad Pro - 11 inch. Should I trade it in for the 13 inch 2024 Air?
Do you need extra 2 inches just right now ? It only depends on you. All the rest of the specs is not good enough to change ypurs 2020 pro IMO :)
Need has nothing to do with it. I have bought, owned, given up on, and returned 4 past iPads, including 3 Airs. I’ve never seen the point in iPads… but you’d have to pry my M4 Pro from my cold dead hands.
Would you recommend the new iPad Air over the old iPad Pro model?
Not specifically, no. M2 Pro is better mostly unless you want the pencil pro or just something brand new
I don’t think the M2 air is needed in an Air; what are you exactly using that chip for? :)) M1 I think was more than enough for the iPads.
It’s just a spec bump for those buying something brand new, which is never a bad thing! Pre owned M1 air would be stunning for most people still! 💪🏻
Totally agree. The Bionic A17Pro would have been just fine. And it would get more battery life.
I think the reason the new Magic Keyboard doesn’t work with the M2 Air is thickness, Apple makes the keyboards a very tight fit and the 11” and 13” M2 Air are thicker than their pro counterparts. I’m guessing Apple thought it wasn’t worth making a separate version for the Air’s, it’s still a shame the old Magic Keyboard didn’t get a price drop. Paying the same price (after 4 years) for less features is criminal
I’m sure thickness plays a part, but they moved the magnets so the new pros have a different layout than the air and older models
I don’t find the reason to get this one instead of a refurbished M2 Pro 12.9. The screen is so much better, the speakers are better, the chip is the same. Why get the 13” Air?
Only if you want the new pencil pro or if you want a brand new item - otherwise i completely agree!
Hi, what game is that at 2:46
Is it good for digital art and animation and video editing??? And is it future proof??
Yep
yes to both!
Need some advise/input. I'm looking to buy an ipad, I have an M2 macbook air. So which ipad should i get - ipad air M2 or ipad 10?
What do you want to do with the iPad?
@@ByteReview normal browsing, movies and for my kids to use it for their homework.
@@darlingvi0let4 10th gen for sure imo
Do you ever accidentally find yourself squeezing the Apple Pencil pro? That is a worry of mine, accidentally squeezing it because I hold pens quite hard
nope, you have to squeeze it pretty hard so you should be all good
I have an iPad Air M1 with 256Gb and I am considering the 11" Air M2 with 512Gb or 1Tb storage. Too bad the M1 Air did not have this at the time, I thought the M2 pro with 512 / 1Tb was too expensive.
What do you do on the iPad to need that much storage? Just curious.
I have an iMac M1 and MBAM2 and both with 512GB storage and I use very little.
@@Manuel-rl6um Photography is my hobby, I take a lot of photos with my Sony camera. The raw files take up a lot of space (50 MB per photo). With more memory in an iPad I can store more locally (cache) and edit photos better/easier.
@@maartenvandenberg2194 oh, that makes sense. I'm a software dev and pretty much everything is text based, so very little space needed. On top of that we use GitHub, GitLab and the likes to store the code in a remote repository, so, even less storage.
It's interesting how different jobs/hobbies require more or less hardware.
13" is too big tbh. You only really write in one place of the screen anyways (you drag), so the extra screen real estate is usually only useful for playing games and consuming media.
Bought one and returned it, it just doesn’t sound as good as the iPad Pro and now I’m ruined for it.
My main issues are that apple still doesn't give ProMotion or Nano IPS on the new Air, simply because they know they couldn't justify the Pro if they did that, Apple should have instead just relaunched the older ipad pros with the trashy camera and called it a day, there was zero need to develop a completely new device that also forces you to buy yet another new and more expensive Apple Pencil.
Can someone tell me, if you're going for this why not get the m2 ipad pro which has a better screen, face id and stuff. Is the new 130$ pencil Pro really worth it
I got the M2 air for $540, have you seen any M2 pros at this price point?
stuck on my 2nd gen 12.9 ipad pro which is still good, but finally showing slight slowdown and degrading battery. looking at the 11 air or pro….. or the 13 air…. wonder if the 60hz will bother me…. thoughts anyone?
I'm in the same dilemma, having the 2nd gen 12.9 pro, thinking of saving the money and getting the M2 air but cant decide between the 11 inch or 13 inch.
I'm in Australia and the price difference is $600 for the 256gm models.
but hey depends on what you use it for though.
@@williamcooper7921 i hear ya my friend, dilemma…. in the states i did grab the 11 inch m1 air 256 new for $529 today, and for the price think i’ll stick with it…. unless the screen size or 60hz really bother me…. good luck!
It will bother you for the first few hours then I think you'll get used to it very quickly. You could always grab an M2 pro which will keep the screen you love and still be a powerful beast!
I really don’t like that pencil pro is not compatible with Air M1😢 cause I want it so so much
yeah it's sad, I wish it came to any M powered iPad
It seems that Apple is always getting people to purchase new extras instead of letting prior extras work on the new units. I am waiting to see who comes up with a Apple Pencil Pro alternative. Still pricey no matter how you look at it.
Yeah, I'd love to see if other companies can make something that does the same or similar as the pencil pro!
if this was 120hz i'd buy one but LOL nope
I'd rather get the last year pro.
A couple of years ago Apple had a really clear simple model structure or products that was easy to understand. No there are so many different skews of products, different combinations of accessories which do or don't work with each, it's a mess. To the normal person in the street they are not going to understand all the different combinations. Someone is sitting at home with a iPad that's a couple of years old, and they want to get into drawing on the iPad, so want to pick up an Apple Pencil. You need a degree to understand which one to buy. They pick up the right one, then after a year or so think "oh I'll upgrade my iPad" then they get this shiny thing home and find out the Apple Pencil they have doesn't work with that model, but works with other models.
It used to be simple, and is now a mess.Theres iPad mini, iPad and iPad Pro - where does the iPad Air fit in? Is it better than the iPad but not as good as the iPad Pro? The Macbook Air is the cheapest MacBook (although the upgrade is the MacBook Pro, so why isn't there just a 'MacBook'), so why isn't the iPad Air the cheapest normal sized iPad? the branding is all over the place.
Yep, despite it getting better now the 9th gen is gone I completely agree
This with a 90hz display would be a killer, but then you'd have to call it Pro hahaha
Yeah, i did think about saying this should be 90Hz but then i know Apple just won’t do it! Haha
I agree 90hz actually makes more sense for the Air models. Its better than 60hz on the base iPad but still letting the Pro keep the 120hz so it can be Pro (🙄😂)
What is the game at 2:10? Thanks.
Hades
How long the battery lasts?
All day easy, maybe 2 if you don't use it quite so much!
@@ByteReview And how long does it take to charge? I have an iPad 7th, and I want to do an upgrade
In 2024. the best iPad to buy is the 2022 iPadPro M2
and a refurbished one at that 👌🏻
apple has provided no good reason to buy this iPad over a 2022 iPad Pro
the value of which has absolutely cratered now that everyone is upgrading to the 2024 Pro
so it makes absolutely zero sense to pay $900 for an M2 Air 512GB when you can pay less than that for an M2 Pro 512GB
My purple 13" Air should be here tomorrow to replace my 11" M1 Pro. I have enough 60hz screens around that I know it's not an issue for me, though I'm sure it is for some. Face ID vs Touch ID, Thunderbolt vs USB-C, and mini-LED are much the same - they’re not important to me, so they’re not worth more money. A Apple refurbished 12.9 M1 Pro is currently $60 more expensive than the new Air I'm getting, while being three years closer to no parts/service from Apple. I'll sell my M1, with it's Magic Keyboard (that I will no longer need) and Pencil 2, which will more than pay for a new Pencil Pro and a new (non-keyboard) case. Sounds like a win to me.

its abysmal that this model doesn't support secpnd gen apple pencil. this is essentially apple forcing people to upgrade even off a M1 Air.
their iPad lineup is all over the place.
Is 2024, I still don't afford a ipad
