    Thanks for posting. I had a feeling that there were going to be a bunch of comments about other ways to fix this problem. There are a lot of different options available. Thank You for showing us this one. I don't know if I could have that thing hanging down if it was visible from outside the vehicle, but if its hidden from view, this is a good quick fix. Thanks again!

    • @shanesmaineshop
      @shanesmaineshop  2 года назад +1

      If I understand you correctly then you may have to have somebody weld on a new bracket on the body of the car if that’s not what you mean then I would buy a whole new hanger system. I hope this helps thank you for taking the time to ask the question.

    That muffler hanger already has a rubber insulator between the clamp and the metal bar, so it doesnt need to be attached to the old big rubber isolator. The metal bar is built as it is to be able to be bolted onto the frame, or onto the car rod hanger.
    BTW if the muffler moves too much with road bumps and vibrations because of the two rubber isolators it will make the flex pipe fail earlier than its normal life (if the vehicle has one) or the other connections, specially if one travels a lot of roads in bad condition.

    • @shanesmaineshop
      @shanesmaineshop  5 лет назад +1

      The vehicle has no flex pipe and fortunately I’ve had no problems with it whatsoever the rubber mounts are fairly solid and not too sloppy so it did not move around a heckuva lot. But you are correct I did not need to hook it back to that mount but I decided to anyway. Thanks for taking the Time to comment.

    Or instead of damaging the bolt so you cant get it off use lock tight 🤷‍♂️

    • @shanesmaineshop
      @shanesmaineshop  4 года назад +1

      I could do that but by the time it needs to come off it will most likely be rusty and ill just use a sawsall to cut it.

    • @dimosbeta
      @dimosbeta 3 года назад

      Using heat can make Loctite melt and soften.. so not a good idea as it can still come off...you can use a self locking nut instead

  • @AlecSalvitti

    Does the bend in the hanger create a weak point? I've had these types of hangers break a lot but there aren't many other options sometimes.

    • @shanesmaineshop
      @shanesmaineshop  5 лет назад +1

      I dont think i have had an issue with breaking at the bend, but im sure it would be a little weaker there to some extent. And your right , not a lot of options.

    what to do if the rubber is corroded and is not re-usable??? thanks

    • @shanesmaineshop
      @shanesmaineshop  7 лет назад +2

      the new hanger has rubber on it so you can just bolt directly to metal on you car if you need to. in my case I was able to use the old spot to bolt to and utilize the rubber as well. I put a link to the hanger in the description but just make sure its the size you need.

      The rubber "hangers" are sold at your local autoparts store. Advance Auto has at least three variations. They are not expensive (less than $10). They sell the hanger "Shane" used also.

    • @shanesmaineshop

    You would’ve been better off using a wire clothes hanger and achieved much better results (cosmetically as well) then what you have shown us here. Not a fan of this “fix” at all. Looks horrible and I’m sure it won’t last very long before you’re making another “repair” to your work. Just go down to the parts store and purchase the proper hanger. I just picked up 2 brand new hangers at the part store and it was LESS then $11.00 USD out the door.

    Why not just attatch it to the METAL hanger coming off the actual car just above the rubber bushing? What will happen is the rubber bushing will perish snap and then your be back to square one lol

    • @shanesmaineshop
      @shanesmaineshop  3 года назад +2

      If you do that it will fail much sooner because you need some flexibility from the vibration of the engine and the muffler system. If you don’t have some flexibility in the system the metal wall crack and break. Thank you for taking the time to comment and ask the question.

  • @wudasimms8856
