Yeah flashed BIOS on both motherboards, I replaced the 8700g and its working on new motherboard, got to test it on ITX board. Going to RMA the other 8700G Chip. Bloody nightmare mate.
Had to do exactly this on my latest build, turned out the motherboard was dead, fortunately being as it was a TrueNAS build I bought a cheap motherboard so didn't loose much money on it. Great video and this will no doubt help people out over time.

Now I came up with this sort of problem when I was building machines and the Asus motherboard I last installed did have LED's and beep signals for faults on the board and I I also installed a speaker for the RAM beep and I found them really handy. So what you say about researching parts before you buy and install or after you have installed them is really the answer😉
I've been there with my current rig. I built it, powered it on and it'd turn on and off like yours did. Took ages to work it out. What had happened was that side of the case had fouled and damaged a connector on my SATA SSD due to where it was placed in the case. I had no idea what NVMe drives were then, or that my board supported them. I quickly found out though!
These AMD platform can take a huge amount of time to initialize the first time you boot them or if you swap ram sticks... Also a full CMOS reset involves removing the battery.
It's recommended to never touch the pins of ram sticks , bare fingers can deposit acids . I've had computers fail to post after cleaning with compressed air , usual thing is a beep code indicating a ram problem , remove sticks , clean contacts with isopropyl alcohol and sometimes also the ram slots using a small brush and isopropyl alcohol, works for me . If you ever get a "bad" ram stick , try that cleaning method before scrapping it .
That exactly happened to me a few weeks ago, but the PC was already in use for 3 years. On power up, no POST, no display, no nothing….but same behavior, fan and RGB come on shortly and go off….the RAM diagnostic LED is on. For unknown reasons, one RAM slot holding a stick was suddenly defect. Moved the 2 sticks to the other two slots and PC was back working
Brian Sir please reply I want to ask a question. On Windows OS based videos on RUclips there is a lot of bashing of Windows OS and praise for Linux by people in the comments section. Is Linux superior - faster, private and more secure? What does your experience says? Please help.
🙂its kinda like religion, its pointless to argue, people are going to like whatever they like, if you get a new computer then i suggest you use multiples SSD's and install windows on one drive and install a linux on another drive and use them both
@lifeindivine They both have there pros and cons, some Linux users go a little overboard and troll Windows videos. All I say is, use what ever OS you want.
Linux mint and fedora 39 user here. Use whatever works for you best, Linux for me allows much more choice, respects my privacy and i just get more fun using it. With Microsoft I just have to trust them to have my best interests. The customization on KDE plasma is leagues better then windows too, I made windows explode when I close them!
Although I use both Windows and Linux, I think whatever suits your workload, is the right OS for you. Sometimes we all get a bit excited about stuff - it is a nerd thing, I suppose.
I had a similar but intermittent issue on a recent itx build, due to the layout it used a riser cable for the GPU, this turned out to be the culprit. Routing put strain on the PCIE riser where it fit into the slot on the board, preventing reliable contact. Replacement with an APU solved it as the function was office box and media only.
Hi Brian, My old pc it's about 12 years old, stopped working after an electrical surge, when I press the power switch the system turns on and off immediately, So I purchased a new upgrade kit, motherboard cpu and ram only, I installed all components using the same power supply unit but it still does the same thing, could this be that my power supply unit has failed due to the electrical surge and needs to be replaced. Thanks
This happened to me a couple of weeks ago on my Linux PC. I thought either my monitor or PC had failed and was getting ready to tear it all apart but fortunately I discovered one of my cats had been playing with the HDMI cable and had pulled it half way out of the GPU.
I went through this with my pc. Checked psu. Got a cheap ram stick (4gb 2400 & Gpu (rx 580 4gb) motherboard i managed to get a refund for the board & ssd i had on hand Same issue. Replace the cpu with a cheaper one all fine working again. I've did a warranty form from amd hoping to get replacement. They said to me April 11th is a holiday & my response will be delayed. Bashing your head against the wall. I'm surprised I didn't end up in hospital 🤕. Seriously hope you get it running again.
I literally had this problem yesterday, I thought it was my graphics card, turns out it was my display port cable, tried an HDMI cable and it's working again.
Remember to unplug Pwd at each test Starting with; Buy an inexpensive PWS checker. If ok then motherboard with NO parts attached but cpu try it, does cmos post? If ok, Then Start with one of memory stick at a time. If ok, still have cmos. if ok, then ssd/hd If ok then boot. Failure at any point is your focus
@Britec09 as y saw it was a amd cpu those are picky with memory mostly those with 3d cache it ain't broken it just doesn't like the ram you wouldn't go for none branded ram and to be sore get samsung chips those are working with all cpus even ampere the new arm64 256 cores one 😀 socheck termals on assus boards failures are quite common thatwhy y go with hp those never break never have incompatible parts

I have to buy ram with heatsinks on or ware gloves or a strap when i'm fitting i've killed so many sticks just by touching it
