- In this series, we'll be exploring the outskirts of the Central Guatemalan highlands, which is the poorest region in all of Guatemala. Instead of staying in the city of Coban, I'll be venturing out into the villages to see what life is like. The villages around this area are never visited by any tourists, so this was where authentic culture was to be found.
It just so happens that this region is inhabited by one of the 22 Mayan groups in Guatemala called the Qʼeqchiʼ Mayans, who speak their own language.
I found a village on Google Maps called "Campat". I know no one there, how to get there, or even what was there. But I wanted to see what life was like in this impoverished village, to see how people live.
*This is not "poverty porn", but rather an in-depth look at how the marginalized live in Guatemala, in hopes to understand a way of the unknown.
Welcome to rural Guatemala.

Beautiful ❤
Glad you're back. I missed the last couple videos.
I think these videos are really good to show Mayan people today and their life than just seeing Tikals.
Cool guy. Beautiful place.
Bienvenidos a Guatemala. Amamos a todos los turistan q nos visitan
Gracias amigo
Counting from 1 to 10 is very similar to Tzotzil, in Chiapas Mexico.
Si es similar porque antes eran un solo pueblo
how is gautamala in comparison to india?
India, is on the other side of the world…!!!!
India is more diverse. If you travel from one state to another everything changes, the food, culture, language, climate...
And we do cultivate Cardamom in India. And I noticed that few words are similar to indian languages
Hey men you came back 2023?
Yessir!
People poor??? Compared to what..?????
Doesn't look poor at all
Si la población indígena emigra, entonces desaparecería la esencia de guatemala!!!!
Even though, today, little by little, is shrinking….!!!
I, did not like the presentation of this video…!!!!
