  • I was invited to Brimpsfield Park by our friend Ben Hughes, to try out this new shoot. This day represents the perfect standard you should expect when buying a days driven shooting, and we were not disappointed!
    I used this as a chance to try a 20-bore out on game for the first time in years, which really made this a day to remember...

    Is it odd that I watched this a month ago, because members get early access. But I'm really enjoying watching it again, because this time I'm just watching the scenery. It looks really harsh and really wonderful.

    In a world full of tacticool, I find myself more and more interested in the history and tradition of fine sporting firearms and their use. Probably a few channels out there that represent my interest as well as yours does but I haven’t found them. Plus your production values are miles ahead of any so called reality show even on tv regardless of their budget. In my opinion you literally have the best visual entertainment of anything I’ve found. Well done! 👍🏼👍🏼 About all I could think of to improve the channel would be to add Lauryn Mark as a cohost occasionally 😁😉

    Monday evening... And I finally got to watch this. I'm really enjoying it. Closest thing I can think in terms of the etiquette is a duck blind. Also though can't get over the drink before hunting, that's cuffs where I come from.
    I'll never get used to all of the country music while you guys are dressed like a country squire.
    So what do I know, I've only recently discovered that Cambridge is where I thought Oxford was, and I also thought Cambridge was where branberry was. You don't want to know where I thought Dartmoor was... That's what I get for listening to limericks.

    I’ve taken a lot from this film. I’m extremely interested with doing a game shoot, but I think I’ll be doing a simulated first. The etiquette of the shoot is what attracts me. But I don’t want to be that guy. All the gear and no idea.

    I don't hunt pheasant here in the states, but in my younger years I did hunt ducks and dove. I always used a 12 gauge semi-auto for hunting, trap and skeet and considered myself to be a good wingshot. One day a friend came by and invited me to go dove hunting that afternoon, but my shotgun was at the gunsmith's shop getting a new extractor claw put in. My friend said no worries, he had an old goose gun he'd loan me. I said let's go! This gun was a single barrel break over, with a 36 inch barrel and a full choke! Not the most ideal gun for dove. I was never so humbled as I was that afternoon. The few birds that I did manage to scratch down were at close range and were pretty mangled up. One thing I did find out and was quite an eye opener for me. I was always rushing to get off that first shot and I'd miss and then slow down taking good aim for the second shot, which I kept forgetting that I didn't have with that gun. Thinking back I realized that I was making most of my hits on the second and third shot with my semi-auto. After that day I always tried to make the first shot count, as if I was still shooting that old single shot goose gun and my hit ratio went up considerably. You get your education where you find it, but first you have to recognize it when you see it!

    You don't have to pillow case everything, quite a few younger guns need educating on this subject.👍

      @@BenBowen89 it's all changed by the looks of it Ben.it would have been frowned on and you would have been spoken to for continually shooting other guns birds in my generation.
      As a guest and on a very small shoot it would still be pretty bad practice even today.
      Low long shots can also be quite dangerous 👍

    Fantastic video, and beautifully filmed and edited as always! I look forward to each and every one. May I ask: is there a "peak" period of the year in the UK when driven game shoots are held? I would imagine it is in part governed by the breeding and growth cycles of the birds, of course, but I'm wondering if there is a "season" as such for driven game shoots? If so, what are the peak months of the year?

    @mjograus8800 3 месяца назад

    If you are '" nervous" to see if a 20 bore or even a 28 bore will do the job on a driven game day, (from my advanced years), I will say that you are way behind the curve and still a babe in arms. I believe that those who stick resolutely to the notion that a 12 bore is the most effective tool, is harbouring a self doubt about ability and seriously underestimating the capabilities of the smaller calibres. I speak from decades of live quarry shooting of all types.

    I like to shoot at long range, hunting, of course the weapon has to shoot well (precisely) and it should be long-lasting and not get hot too quickly
