- Another perfect digital capture from my archive of Jiminy Glick! Only previously on RUclips from a bad VHS with dropouts, aspect ratio and color problems...heres a significant upgrade for Jiminy fans! A super IV with classic lines such as "ive never taken Viagra...mine is more of a thing you hook on..." "Matthew Brodrick...oh hes wonderful (have you seen his work?) ..No..." "No-one looks in the mirror and (sniff sniff) "I have a cold" and makes me believe it like Nathan Lane." By 4min30 Nathan goes into giggle meltdown. Enjoy this clean sharp version!
"You could actually lower your voice"
"I could...BUT I WON'T!!"
HA HA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
me at work every day
I love how Jiminy interviews stars like Nathan Lane with extensive resumes in theatre or film, and reserves his best praise for the TV commercials they've done:
"Because NO ONE looks in the mirror and says, 'I have a cold' and makes me believe it, like Nathan Lane!"
I honestly think the Jiminy Glick character is one of the greatest comedic creations ever.
This character reminds me of Trump at his annoying best.
100% true!!! My favorite of all time :)
@@mrpaulbaby I thought this also. Except Trump is not likeable.
Smarter, thinner and better looking than trump.
I would say at this time I think he's second only to Mr. Bean.
who knew years after this moment they would be on a tv show, being enemies and putting a great performance. only murders in the building ❤
I have never seen Nathan Lane so genuinely entertained as he is here
If you haven't seen Nathan Lane in the movie "Mouse Hunt" do yourself a favor and watch it.
@@Brian-uy2tjThe Birdcage has to be my favorite Nathan Lane movie
@@RedGreenLugar Have you seen "Mouse Trap"? He is at his best and the rest of the cast is terrific too.
@@Brian-uy2tj it's been a while since I've seen it, I'll have to revisit it
@@RedGreenLugar Christopher Walkens small role is unforgettable. It is a delightful movie.
“Not since James Lipton, has there been such an excavation of a career”almost had me do a spit take
I see Jiminy, I glick.
😐
😑
Congratulations
I bow to you
Champ
Martin Short has go to be one of the greatest, naturally gifted entertainers to ever live.
His timing and intonations are second to none
I was watching his Ed Grimley clips recently, OMG he was so insane as that character LOL.
East there
I love him, and, strange enough, I love everything about him BUT his movies... :D
I haven't seen the Martin Short one
"Back to the NyQuil commercial..."
“Mine is more of a thing that you hook on”
Martin Short is sooo quick!
"Is it like a Bobby DeNiro, where you're the whole day the meerkat, or just when they rattle the money in front of you?"
SUCH A GREAT LINE
This one is my favorite. Nathan’s laughter is so genuine!
I'm crying right along with him!
This is Martin at his absolute best. Nathan Lane is the perfect foil...so good natured and without a hint of ego.
This is one of the funniest Glick interviews. I laughed all the way through.
agreed I just had a much needed belly laugh.
Q: With a superb actor, how can you distinguish between a genuine reaction and pretense?
A: You can't.
'I've never taken Viagra - mine is more of a hook-on thing'
I'm dead. 🤣🤣🤣
I appreciate that Nathan Lane acknowledges the "Matthew and Modine" joke with a laugh. Most interviewees either don't react much, or their reaction is otherwise edited out.
Please explain
@@Storm-zm9pp Matthew Modine; as in Full Metal Jacket
I know! I'm always shocked that more people don't laugh at that 😂
How about the quick follow-up when Lane notes that the kids' names all start with M, and Jiminy reacts like that never occurred to him before! "The FOUR Ms! Oh . . . that's right." 2:07
It always cracked me up. I think Matthew Modine liked it.
Perhaps the most divine moment I ever had in a theatre was in 2006, when Martin Short staged his one-man play, Fame Becomes Me, on Broadway. Every performance he featured a surprise celebrity guest and that day it was Nathan Lane. Watching these two geniuses riff off one another for twenty minutes was absolute, unforgettable comedy gold. Thanks for sharing this.
Sorry I missed it 😞
I’m waiting for the day when Jiminy interviews Matthew Modine and talks about Matthew and Modine.
Nathan is so sweet and genuine. He's absolutely adorable.
Martin Short is so quick. So good. All this is so impromptu and he catches it and runs w/ all these things and he never breaks character.
I want to turn Jiminy struggling with "what is what, what what" into a ringtone.
😂
Hahahahahahahaha that would be hysterical!!
“Was he swerving on the stage all the time? Spewing ooooooldd boooze from his breath?” Hahahahha
Nathan Lane seems to be a huge Martin Short fan. I enjoyed his genuine reaction to Glick.
They're besties irl
This one is really great. They play so well off of each other. Nathan is just as in the moment as Jiminy is. They are really having a great time.
I've recently rediscovered these old interviews. I think they went over my head back when this was coming out fresh.
I especially love the joke at 2:45 where he says it's a thing you have to hook on, and you can hear the crew laughing in the background
nathan made him break character for a sec after that "burnt toast" line lol
That is the mark of a talented Comic!
One of my favorites. Nathan loves this, seems like a really nice guy
Also Nathan and Marty have the funniest scenes in “only murders in the building”
People that love Martin Short are my people!!
The sheer amount of volume that Glick can produce is enough to shock almost any guest, and you can totally see Nathan wince when he trumpets out everything he says XD
Nathan Lane seems like such a lovely bloke - it's so great to see him reduced to giggles by the wonderful Martin Short.
Martin has so much respect for a fellow stage performer.
I love how much he gets Nathan Lane to crack up in this one.
You're doing the lord's work uploading these!
Nathan is such a great assist man for Jiminy
So much joy in this interview.
It’s the “drunky” that got me.
If I ever need to be cheered up, all I need to do is watch Jiminy Glick interview anybody.
I always cry from beginning to end with his interviews.
Omg that was hilarious. Nathan Lane couldn’t contain his laughter. Loved it.
I love the little joke at 4:03, ‘No, that’s not sweat’. It’s such a fast joke with a delayed impact.
I can't stop crying. The funniest thing I have ever seen.
The Larry David episode is also amazing. 😂
The Mel Brooks one is great too
If you missed it, check out Kimmel Live for the July 4th week in 2024 - Martin hosted while Kimmel was on vacation but then Jiminy showed up to host the last couple nights I believe. Jiminy still got it.
Keep the Glick coming!
thanks Josh im only going to upload ones that are significantly bad quality on YT that need upgrading, i still have a few left and im searching my video VHS archive for more
@@DarrenGlen I actually just found out about these gems and I've been hooked. I couldn't even tell you what Martin Short is known for besides this. Its just great improv comedy. Thank you!
@@DarrenGlen you're an absolute treasure! Thank you! I tried watching this the other day and it was so poor. Thank you for the HD upgrade!
@@DarrenGlen This video looks fantastic. Thank you for your work!
@@Josh-yx4xm SCTV for starters- you're in for a real treat!
These Glick interviews are great entertainment! I love the fact that Martin interviewed his two co stars in The Three Amigos-Steve Martin and Chevy Chase-as Jiminy. That is still one of my favorite movie, Martin Short is so funny and I watched many of his movies when I was younger. Who remembers Inner Space?!
Martin Short is so good as Jiminy, he literally disappears and all you see is the character. I hope he is given an honorary Oscar if not an outright Oscar at some point. If I wrote down all of my favorite moments of Jiminy Glick this post would 100 pages long.
It really is a power, an incredible gift. To be able to make the most seasoned comedians and actors in the world laugh, almost at will.
I click for Glick.
OMG, thank you. The original VHS upload wasn't the best quality. This one, as Jiminy would put it, is wonderful!
He would! aHAAAAAAHAHAA!
one of my favorite moments is at the very beginning when Jiminy unexpectedly SCREAMS Nathan's name, causing him to flinch.
if only Jiminy Glick could get a late night talk show
Right on!
These bits work best when the guest plays the straight man and doesn’t try to out do Glick - Nathan Lane is perfect
And Bill Hader.
Nathan certainly turned this around … he’s making Martin Short do the improv. How’s your wife, by the way? His wife Dixie and four sons, Morgan, Mason, Matthew and Modine, the twins are wonderful. Love it. What a hoot!
so much fun to see Nathan Lane cracking up and just being a great sport
Thanks so much Darren for looking for these high quality interviews and posting them.
Mousehunt is one of my all-time favorite films as a kid, Nathan is a total legend, love his reaction here!
Mousehunt and Stuart Little were my childhood, adore this man
My favorite part is I think it’s so hard for them not to laugh not only because the character is so funny, but Bc all the guests know Martin so it’s probably ten times harder to take it seriously when you know the guy in the fat suit and see his eyes and shit like that’s still their friend to them so it’s probably way harder then it would be if it was someone who didn’t know he was a character
I love when you can hear Marty sneak in a laugh. Like at the end in his last sentence
A pleasure to catch this new offering "first" on your excellent channel :)
When Nathan asked Jiminy if he had seen Matthew Broderick's work, he should have said, "Yes! I loved his work in 'Pretty In Pink.'"
Dude, 1:12 absolutely kills me - so good. This is one of my favorite episodes.
The way he says "Nathan Lane" after that slays me
@@Barnaclebeard hahaha ( JG laugh) yes, also hilarious!! Guess I’m going to watch a few Glicks now
I am crying laughing so hard at this part omfg
@@mattsylvester2515 hahaha,I know - it’s so good. “I could, but I won’t….”
That introduction was so all over the place, you could tell Nathan has NO CLUE where it was gonna land 😂
Absolutely hilarious, they’re both wonderful, thanks
This is my favorite Jiminy Glick interview and I love Nathan Lane's laugh!
I just discovered Jiminy Glick a few days ago and when I saw the Nathan Lane I just knew immediately it was going to be one of the best ones
Thank you for uploading this! These two are national treasures.
It's remarkable to see Nathan Lane disintegrate in laughter.
Martin Short as a comedic blessing, one of the only comedians that can still make me laugh out loud.
Why is Jiminy Glick so addictive?
ikr? I think it's just Martin Short. This character could easily be annoying and hackneyd (sp?) without Short's charm and wit.
Between two ferns used this as inspiration.
@@nuncapasaran9374 It's MARTIN SHORT?!?!
2:44 I pissed my pants 😂😂😂😂😂
That is fucking hilarious
Wow! Just wow! What a great 5 mins. So naturally funny.
I love that looking into the future of this, both Nathan and Matthew guest star with Martin on Only Murders in the Building.
Martin Short’s improv, impersonation, and character invention ability is absolutely second to none. Probably my favorite comedian of all time.
I had forgotten this. Wonderful.
I especially enjoyed the humorous aspects of this video.
One of Glicks top 5 interview
Two lovely comedic artists that I'll never ever see enough of. Bravo, guys!
It took me a bit of time to fully appreciate the brilliance of the character, but once I did I find it absolutely hysterical. Jiminy's notes consist of:
- NyQuil commercial deep-dive
- questions about drunken George C. Scott
Honestly, Marty Short is a comedy legend. Both his impersonations and his original characters. They've totally stood the test of time.
I always wanted to see Nathan as Max Bialystock and Martin as Leo Bloom - what a powerhouse it would've been.
Jiminy Glick should moderate the next presidential debate.
He had Nathan lane in tears. Literally
"Was he swerving on the stage all the time"... I died
In all likelihood, as he is a comedian, nothing makes Short happier than making people laugh. And Nathan laughs so much here, I expect Short enjoyed this very much.
These are the greatest interviews ever recorded in human history
"Do you smell burning toast." I'm smelling burning toast from laughing
I loved Jiminy absolute comedy gold.
“Drunkie - Oh wait George C Scott “
Thank you for this.
I didn't expect to cry laughing
Thank you Darren Glen! You are a star of multiple mediums.
im a fan of multiple mediums hehe especially a fan of Jiminy...youre welcome!
What's amazing to me is, I don't even know who this guest is but laughed and smiled throughout the interview anyways. 😆 LOL
This one is my absolute favorite...they both are magic in this❤
Master of Improvisation 10/10
"And the guy they wanted got sick!"
The fact that Nathan Lane is totally being genuine here makes this funnier.
Martin Short is the saint of Comedy so natural so beautifully funny
'Not since James Lipton have I seen this kind of excavation of a career...' Oy, me.
There is NO WAY I could hold it together
Jimminy glick is one of the funniest people to ever exist
"..and you played a king"? Martin Short is such a lengend.
The best improviser alive
Genius!
" YOu do theatre?" LOVE. fantastic. All of Jiminy Glick's interviews are.
These two are both brilliant on chat shows. I imagine they are very popular with the hosts of real interview shows.
Priceless
