It's great to hear these youngsters carrying on the tradition. This music can bring you to tears one moment and unadulterated joy the next. In other words, the blues makes one feel alive.
Absolutely! Blues has that incredible power to evoke both tears and pure joy. It’s wonderful to see these young artists keeping the tradition alive. Thanks for the comment!
Totally agree and I would add Joanna Connor, Deborah Coleman, Jackie Venson, Ruthie Foster, Bonnie Raitt, Larkin Poe (Megan and Rebecca Lovell) and Laura Cox to the list ( and I am probably forgetting a few)
You didn't even have 'one' Honorable Mention guitarist to your Top Twenty Blues Guitarist, and that list I have no problem with. But most of, if not all other guitar lists will have two and even three Honorable Mentions Guitarist, again you had none. I don't know all of the other blues gunslingers around, it seems they pop up everyday and younger too. I think one Honorable Mention Guitarist could be an eighteen year old guitarist out of Nashville(Transplanted from the West Coast, North of L.A.) A little gal with Goldilocks of hair and plays that Cherry Red '62 SG......Grace Bowers! My vote would be for Gracie who I've been watching for the past 2 1/2plus years. She's a force to be reckin' with, I'm 70yrs. old myself and saw some of the great guitarist of my generation from the mid - sixties on. I just hope I'll be around in the next five to ten years to see where this Goldilocks Goes with that SG. Thanks to all the current guitarist who are keeping the Blues/Blues Rock Alive & too all those who came before from Robert Johnson to Ligthin' Hopkins to John Lee Hooker to Muddy Waters and the King's, B.B., Albert, Freddie, and special nods to Duane Allman, Jeff Beck & SRV,, Johnny Winter, Mike Bloomfield, Roy Buchanan, Rory Gallagher, Peter Green, Gary Moore and Kim Simmons, all those greats R.I.P. 🙏......And we still have around the likes of Clapton, Page(yeah I know he hasn't done much in the past 15yrs. but Pagey still with us) Billy Gibbons, Keith Richards and the ladies we least forget the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, Orianthi to name a few. "The Blues had a Baby and they called it Rock and Roll"......👶🎸🕶️🎉
You raised a very interesting point! I agree, it's always nice to highlight honorable mentions, but we thought it best to reserve that for the comments because with so many great names in blues history, it's hard to include them all, but you mentioned a lot of good people, I'm glad! Your passion for keeping this flame alive is inspiring. Thanks for commenting!
We plan to create a dedicated list of women in the blues soon. Do you have any suggestions for guitarists who shouldn’t be left out? Thanks for commenting!
This list was restricted to guitarists under 50 years old. But I have to admit that Chris Cain is amazing! He has a classic blues feel with a lot of soul. Thanks for commenting!
