If they did that then they would lose a lot of money because they rather people spend more money to get them fixed by Apple technicians. Apple really likes their money.
Conor Walker Just 'cause you can take the back off it would look bad? I agree that it may be minimally thicker, but it wouldn't look ugly. Although, it may start suffering from the problem Android phones have where if you drop it, the battery falls out but on Apple devices the whole screen shatters so I doubt that would be a big deal.
You can buy an iPhone battery replacement kit on Amazon so of course anyone could potentially do it. However, you have to understand how consumers work. In the computer age they couldn't figure out how to add more ram to their macs... Most apple users opted to pay $200 for a 2gb to 4gb ram upgrade when you could purchase the ram for less than $40 a piece back then.
It would be nice if you would talk about the (current) price of replacing the display. If just the glass is broken, do you have to replace the whole assembly? How much does that cost? I think for most people, those are the major questions they want answered.
"Only 9 out of over 10 million iphone 6 and 6+ bent" Only 9 of them reported. So there might be some users who bent it somewhere. "plus they had no cases so yeah" So what's the point of the "premium material" then?
***** The point is the 6 plus is a huge device and is 7.1mm thin, made with a thin sheet of aluminium and doesn't contain a magnesium chassis unlike other phones. Use simple science and you can understand why it's easy for the device to bend. But if you look inside the device, you can see a screw near the volume rockers and that's acting as a pressure point for the bending. I'd also like to point out that Apple have fixed the issue with the latest shipment of iPhones. So fandroids have nothing to get hard over anymore.
first major redesign since iPhone 4? more like since the 5... -the 4 and the 5 have different screens -the 4 and the 5 have different ports in different places -the 5 has chamfered edges, the 4 does not -the 4 has one single panel of glass for the backside, the 5 does not how can you say the 4 is like the 5?
So I just got this phone and would like to know can I take the vibration system out of the phone and would it still work if I took it out it's really annoying me with how loud it is
It's nice that Apple made it easier to open. Too bad it's easier to damage as well. What's the point of thinner when you need to add a fat case to protect it? After all those rumors of Sapphire glass screens that are as durable as a good watch crystal and Liquid Metal cases that won't bend or easily dent, I am pissed about how fragile these things are.
Are you smocking something, or are you just trolling? There is no Samsung logo. They have an A8 SoC inside, 100% Apple. And the metal plates are just common RF engineering, that's what you do when you work with radio frequencies...
If u take a look at previous Apple iphones (IPHONE 5S) that a7 processor is made be SAMSUNG. Look it up. Same goes for the A4 chip in the 4s and other small components in both phones. So i really wouldn't be surprised if that A8 is made Samsung........ Just sYing. If u look at cracking open videos of the iphone 5s u can clearly see the samsung logos on many of the phones components Andrei-Lucian Șerb
***** Constructed by Samsung, not made by Samsung. Apple makes the chips, and Samsung (or any other factory that can produce silicon chips) builds them. Basically Apple orders chips from anyone who can keep up with the demand, and sometimes it works with multiple factories for the same chip, because of high demand. And I looked, and there is no Samsung logo anywhere, on any iPhone, which makes sense, because the logo is put by the chip designer, not by the chip factory. Anyway, Apple has moved its chip production to TSMC, which is the number one silicon foundry in the world.
Andrei-Lucian Șerb your missing my point here. I also forgot to add in about the phones 1080p screen was made by LG..... MADE as in LG's retina display (lower resolution thats found in the G3) im pretty sure apple didn't design it.
Dude Apple designs the chips and the screens it's their technology they just use Samsung and LG to manufacture it because apple doesn't have their own factories.

Honestly I'm wondering apples opinion on that, before iphone everything was replaceable from them, easy access, then they went into making best feeling and looking devices which trimmed thickness and upgradability, but there Mac Pro is all about upgradability(yet relying on standards no one is advanced enough too) and iMacs/Mac mini are partially. Either way, When iphone 6C comes next year it may be possible for them to make it thick enough for no bulging camera, and make the plastic back pop off with access to things.
You gotta love the kind of stuff that they have to do when they design a computer in such a small form factor (not saying that becouse it's an iPhone).
I'm sharing a phone plan with my mom since it's cheaper and she decided to get us iphones. It's not a bad phone, but I would never personally buy an iPhone with my own money. Apple products are great quality, but they really only thrive when they dominate a market. After competitors catch up to them, we see the flaws of Apple products. Their philosophy is that they don't want customers to have any more control over their products than what Apple allows. - They don't want customers to replace their own phone batteries, so they make it as difficult to open the case as possible. - By default, they set the mouse to single click to appeal to computer illiterates, meaning most applications for the Mac must be designed in a way that works with the single click option in mind. (At least the option for right clicking can be enabled, but it's a pain for programmers trying to create Mac friendly stuff). - You can upgrade your storage and RAM, but not your graphics card. - You can build a custom PC if you want. Apple will always build your computer. These are just the few things I can think of. The list can go on.

This is Cnet's residential geek I'm guessing. When are you going to learn they don't want you screwing around inside their phone. They are not going to make it easier for you.
I agree. My phone won’t charge & one tip is to remove batterie and put it back. Which I did many times with my Samsung’s. No way with the iPhone. First they tell you to remove to tiny little screws, but you have to go to a vender to buy one. It doesn’t come with your phone. Odd that the charging icon shows it is charging. I do not p Feel iPhone is any better that Samsung. I won’t buy another!

I wish Apple would make the battery easily removable like Samsung, LG and other Android vendors.
If they did that then they would lose a lot of money because they rather people spend more money to get them fixed by Apple technicians. Apple really likes their money.
Conor Walker Just 'cause you can take the back off it would look bad? I agree that it may be minimally thicker, but it wouldn't look ugly. Mrvideosandgames the whole screen shatters? Sir you realize that apple is using the same screen as other companies? (Gorilla glad)
Sulfen Sure because anyone who's not an Apple technician can't glue it back in place...

Abebil3 MMMmmmm... what you saaaay-yay... xD
It's actually pretty impressive how they shoved all of that stuff inside such a thin phone. It's so thin that you can bend it with your bare hands
Check out the new iPad pros then lol. They're like paper kind of.
5.1mm thickness

Displaying being 50% bigger is probably 50% more expensive and that metal behind probably tells you there's other things that might spike cost.
You have to bend it first
Only 9 actual iPhones bent. Bitter android users.
MrNuggetface not true
CNET says only 9 confirmed cases of bending. I believe them. Not you
Nuggets a Fanboy
MrNuggetface what u and others don't understand is that you have 2 years with a new phone so you will see how it stand up within the first 6 months
Wow it’s already been 4 years since the iPhone 6 came out
Nice to see its easier to fix the screen now.
*insert bend joke here*

What is this tool he uses to take off the screen at time 1:00 [edit : typo]
the metal shilelds aren't soldered, it is possible to open them and see the A8 processor. BSer
They are soldered since the iPhone 5 came out. You need hot air to remove them

james campbell Good that they fixed it, but it's a bad tactic to release a product that's half-baked. So the damage was already done.

Wow. A teardown channel that actually teaches you something, as opposed to destroying technology for the hell of it.
It's now people realise just how little Job's thought of his customers, making it ridiculously awkward to fix yourself.
