  • Yes I know....Apples and Oranges...two completely different bikes. I've had several viewers ask me which bike would I choose if I had to pick between the two. Several subscribers are weighing the pros and cons of each one in order to make a purchasing decision. I completely understand....both bikes are great tourers...both are reliable...and fun to ride. I provide my perspective around the 4:10 mark in the video.

If you have a schedule and route to follow, Gold Wing. If you have no schedule, free time, the Super T is the ride anywhere do anything option. It's why I'm riding an R1250 GSA and not the R 1250 RT. I want options.

I’ve had them both and feel similar about the bikes. The Super T was good fun go anywhere (slow and easy off-road) ultra reliable adventure bike. Modded the Super T , hardwired gps, boxes , guards. Racking big miles or longer point to point was definitely more effort on the T, the CC was a nice feature for the trips. Now I’m on the DCT Tour Goldwing and putting in big miles is effortless. Apple car play, XM radio , heated seats and in comfort (with a upgraded seat). All the bells and whistles. It’s definitely a different riding experience between them. I enjoyed the Super T and would recommend the bike over any others in the Adventure class. The Goldwing redesign losing weight has made this gen a great handling bike just a different class of motorcycle comparing the two. I do miss the T, having both seems like a winning proposition.

I have a vtx 1800 and a yamaha star venture my dilemma is witch one to sell in order to buy a ST.

Definitely the ST! Only because of the versatility. If you need to choose for beauty than it will be the GW. But for me the #1 is the ST. I hope I can buy that bike someday. ✌

You already know how I feel about my ST! One day I may add a GW to the stable but I'm not in any hurry. What's up with Ft. Davis? I'd like to hit up Marfa but it's peak fishing time on the coast right now. LOL. We need to get the ST's on the beach. LOL! I don't have the right tires though.

Hey Greg! Was thinking of taking a Ft Davis trip soon. Unfortunately life is getting in the way. We need to do a 3 sisters ride soon

Great video; as always. ST is like having a dog - loyal, ready for anything and has personality.

You already know which one I would choose. My off pavement riding days are over as I much prefer asphalt. DCT for the win, now i've owned adventure style bike 2 GSA's and a VFR 1200X that i completed an IRON BUTT ride on. That said not unlike yourself the majority of my riding is one up however I will not hesitate to take my DCT off pavement Disclaimer I wont do sand 🤣.. great video

I’ve never ridden ST but have owned 4 Gold wings so I’m partial in my opinion I would favor the Wing however I understand you point of view. I think it also depends on what type of riding you are doing. In the end all that matters is that you ride. Ride safe

Great video my friend. I have been off the road for a while but will hopefully return soon. I was so curious to hear your feedback on the two rides. I sold a 2016 BMW 1200GSA that I loved and purchased a 2018 BMW K1600B. I admit it was swayed with the look, the 160+ HP, and the amazing technology. It is so comfortable, so fast, so cool, and to me so freaking boring. What you said is true, our personality does have a lot do with it. I remember being stationed overseas on a small island (Azores). Most guys stayed inside playing video games and bitching about nothing to do, I was out exploring the streets, climbing through old buildings, and meeting the people. MY GSA was a tank, took me anywhere, I felt safe in any condition. I am 'on edge' on the 1600, hard to explain but it just is not the same. On the GSA I could turn down any road, slide up to any nasty gas station with ruts in the parking lot, or cruise at 95 (allegedly) down a smooth highway heading to the beach. Plus, the huge gas tank would carry me almost 400 miles.
Again, great video, great words, enjoy both of your bikes whenever you can. I am waiting for the winter BMW 2020 discounts, and I will see you at the dealership!! Blessings brother!

Thanks for the comments Steve. Its great to hear from you again. Yes personality plays a huge role my friend. The GSA is a tank and like the ST, its extremely versatile. Stay safe brother

Totally biased - On my second S10. Just rode 1800 miles in 3 days. Fantastic touring bike. 100 of those miles on dirts roads. Now, I've never owned or even ridden a old Wing...but I'd like to!

The New Gold Wing DCT Bagger for “one up” for sure. What a bike. No one talks about that. But ride one and it’s just a sweet as the Tour model. Just add a big soft/hard bag on the back of the Bagger. The Yamaha as the second bike if that’s do-able. Unless you really enjoy the Swiss Army knife capability and all road opportunities the Yamaha affords you. But life’s way too short, and every time you ride you’ll probably want to take whatever gives you the vibe and feel you want, and when you turn the lights off before heading in the garage whatever’s going to make you look back for another look the most. Ride safe ride often. Peace.

Riding across Kansas with 40+ mph cross winds. Super Tenere or Goldwing (with trunk)?

I hope it's just because I jumped on the video right away to see it and it simply hasn't been fully processed, it's only available viewing is 360p.

I think the Tenere is a great bike, but I'd choose the new Goldwing over it every time. But then, I might be a tad biased! 😁

Hey ShadowDPS,, I am presently struggling with myself on which bike I will buy next Year. My choices are the Honda Goldwing, the 2020 Honda African Twin Adventure Sports, or the Yamaha Super Tenere. I am leaning toward the Super Tenere because of value for the buck and the fact it is Shaft Driven. Although the Goldwing is Shaft Driven and I do like that factor, I question how far you can travel on a 5.5 gallon tank. My next bike must be able to do over 200 miles to a tank.

    • @RobsMotovlogs
      @RobsMotovlogs  3 года назад +1

The goldwing can make 200 miles on a tank. But not much more. Its definitely a solid bike

Being an old fart now, I’d say keep the GW. That’s coming from a guy who has owned several Harley touring bikes & a Super Ténéré but now rides a 1200 GSA. So don’t listen to me, I can’t make up my mind! 😆
