I love seeing the different ways you can gain the results you’re looking for. My question to you, is do you prefer this method for getting our light whispy hairs instead of using the Brush and Pencil products? I’m sure there are reasons for each. I’m curious what yours are. Thank you for posting this video. :)

if you look in specialist airbrushing supply shops you will find paper that can be scratched. I used to use illustration paper back in the day that you could use rapidographs on and any slight mistake with the pen or even a big ink blot could be totally scraped off with no effect to the paper at all. You could also work on clayboard to do the same thing.

I haven't tried them out, but I'd suggest using needles (if difficult to hold, maybe you could transform an unused mechanical pencil to hold the needle instead of lead?) and empty fountain pens. I'll definitely try the fountain pen at one point because these knives are unfortunately not as common and cheap where I live.
EDIT: some mechanical pencils have metal tips, like Rotring Tikky. Not as sharp as the other two alternatives, but could be worth a try.

In my humble opinion, and a lifetime fan of coloring, now with over nine diff brands of colored pencils, I recommend the Crayola set of 50, for adults. You’ll note the difference between Crayola colored pencils for kids and Crayola colored pencils for adults (just Google, and you’ll be able to view the differences in packaging). Hands-down, to me, they are of the absolute best quality for the price. (In the United States you can buy that set of 50 for $12) Hope this helps! 😊
