QOTD: Have you tried using an X-acto Knife before? Also what is your favourite tool to use with your coloured pencil drawings?
Kirsty Partridge Art a sharpener obviously.. 😬😬
I ended up making my own x-acto knife and its my new favorite thing
I have an almost identical knife and I love using it for all kinds of stuff. The only difference is that it's not of that brand and the front part has the rest of the knife's colour.😆
Kirsty Partridge Art Very nice and helpful vdo 👏 can i use xacto knife over graphite and charcoal in the same way ?
Khawaja Humza yeah..but u have to use it before applying graphite..
That's a really cool tip, I'll have to try it sometime :)
Also the editing on this is incredible

Just restarted my color pencil drawing after 20 years now that I'm retired. I have never heard of that technique. I will definitely use it. My goodness young lady you are a fabulous artist. Your teaching style & videos are very clear & easily understood. Well done & thank you for sharing
Wow every time I watch one of your videos I learn so much things thenk u
Thats great to hear! :D
You have more enthusiasm radiating through your eyes and voice than all of my school art teachers combined. Plus I’ve learned more from this channel on top of that.
Fur and hair are the toughest for me. This is for sure a great tool. Adding hair highlights is quite hard 😞
Thanks for sharing!
Hey Kirsty P, thank you for your great tutorials that you make for the art community. I really enjoy your artwork and videos, added with the hard work you put into everything. You keep being you and keep up the great work!!!

Kristy this is outstanding work that you do. especially for those who have a passion for sketching but aren't aware of the various tools that can create wonders. Hats-off !!

Thanks for sharing those videos. Everytime i watch your videos i learn new things about art, art tools and so much more
Just a tip guys, if you use watercolour, you can also go back with an x-acto knife to bring back highlights.
Kirsty, you've been posting really often a lot and I'm loving it! Thanks so much for sharing your tips with us, even though they're said pretty often, I'm so glad you say them because once I watched your videos, my art improved so so much!

subsribing to this channel is the best thing I ever did, thank you Kirsty I have learned so much
I’ve never used an x-acto knife with colored pencil, but now I want to!!
Hello;
thanks for the video demonstrating the technique. I use the needles to create this effect, especially in jobs that involve acrylic paint.
For example: those grooves between the thick barks of trees.
It would be really cool if you did a tutorial on how to draw fire
I have a request.. Would you please make a tutorial on drawing realistic fire...? 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻please...
Best color pencil tip of the YEAR!
From so many days I was trying to know about this tool and other ones too, but I failed but when I saw your video I felt like I have got something which I desperately wanted. Your video is so useful and thank you so much for posting this video.
Thanks for this I actually bought this knife a week ago to try and help with my coloured pencil work 🙂
One of the most useful tips I've seen, Kirsty. Excellent.

That's so cool!!!! Love your videos Kristy!!!! Very helpful content!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Excellent tip. Looking forward to use this technique when I've bought the knife. Have a great day. 👍😊
Thanks you so much. I just bought this knife. Now, i can create the most realistic highlights for hair. Thanks you so much. I'm watching you from France ( thanks God, i can understand your english 🤣).
You draw beautifully! Wow!
Vere nice and useful tips thankyou
Works great for subdued blades of grass on landscapes. Be careful not to gouge. Light strokes with the right color blends are nice with the Xacto Knife.
Well well id certainly not considered doing this before so very much appreciate you're video tutorial 👌👌👍
شكرا لك .بالحقيقه انا استفدت من فديواتك كثيرا
I have a exacto knife but I never used it this way you are amazing💕😍 my dear friend

Drawing facial imperfections are really difficult for me. I can't draw wrinkles or even textured skin. Any tips?
In which way you have used the knife in this video to get the hair texture in color pencil drawing...can we use that technique in graphite or charcoal drawing for hair texture??
Never been that early ! Thank you for always inspiring me 😭 love your vid it helps a lots
Thank u a lot! I have an xacto knife and i thought it was only for scuplting. Having know this tip, im gonna try it. Again, thanks a lot!
What type of colored pencils do you use?

I was always wondering how people put on those thin white lines on hairs.

Bless the gods! I finally found out how this tool is called! Thank you so much😀😀😀😀😀
WOW! This is amazing! That works amazing! Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you so much mam for doing this kind of videos. It was my first time to watch any tutorials of artwork. I never thought that it was really helpful. I have a one request that plz make a video for placing things like eyes, nose, lips, ears. Because when I sketch that's the biggest mistake I do always.
Plz help me mam
You great fan.
I love seeing the different ways you can gain the results you’re looking for. My question to you, is do you prefer this method for getting our light whispy hairs instead of using the Brush and Pencil products? I’m sure there are reasons for each. I’m curious what yours are. Thank you for posting this video. :)
if you look in specialist airbrushing supply shops you will find paper that can be scratched. I used to use illustration paper back in the day that you could use rapidographs on and any slight mistake with the pen or even a big ink blot could be totally scraped off with no effect to the paper at all. You could also work on clayboard to do the same thing.
Very interesting kristy I‘ll definitely incorporate the xacto knife on my color pencils it’s absolutely inspiring creatively and artistically \m/
Awesome 😁 I'll give it a try!👍
This is awesome. Will have to try it!
hey the first one you could use blunt side cutter or knife
This tool is jst awsome it make it look realistic thanx for exlaining it how use.......one more thing does it works on graphite and charcoal pencils??? Plzz reply soon as posible
Woah I'mma try this
Super awesome thank you!
Does the scraping works to charcoal such as Powder?
Wow thank you i didn't know that this tool excit
Colored pencils actually frustrate me which is why I prefer graphite and charcoal
adding highlight with craft knife doesnt work on rough surface like
bristol 400 series vellum surface
Thank you Kirsty for this it will help so much. Q what coloured pencils are in your opinion the best for shading
Does this also works on graphite?
Thank for your tip, it help a lot
I have a past history of self harm so my mom doesn't ever let anyone keep these around the house but I know it would help take my drawings up to the next level.. any advice or other similar tools that aren't so "dangerous" ?I've tried the pointy bit of orange sticks but it didn't help too much. Maybe I'll try again. Any advice is appreciated thank you ❤️
I haven't tried them out, but I'd suggest using needles (if difficult to hold, maybe you could transform an unused mechanical pencil to hold the needle instead of lead?) and empty fountain pens. I'll definitely try the fountain pen at one point because these knives are unfortunately not as common and cheap where I live.
EDIT: some mechanical pencils have metal tips, like Rotring Tikky. Not as sharp as the other two alternatives, but could be worth a try.
Tellurah B. I'll definitely try the needle thing first :) thanks a ton
You are the best at drowning
Diego Ramirez drowning, that’s not a good way to die
Diego Ramirez wtf
I'm sure you meant DRAWING, I hope we never learn who is best at drowning.
I used to do this with a hairpin lol. I would bite off the little balls at the end of it and it will expose the sharp metal. Needles, small knives and scissors do the trick too.
Did not know this!!!
That's brilliant
Thanks for tips 😊
amazing tip, great video!
Does this work on any kind of paper?
It does not work on very thin paper like printer paper.
Is this scraping technique with x acto knife can be use in charcoal and graphite drawings???
Nice tool 👍
Great tips Kirsty 😙😍💕
Interesting tip. I used to watch Bob Ross, and he did something similar with a palate knife for adding details to his paintings. Would this work with charcoal, and pastels?
great video
Wow amazing
Great material 🖤🖤
Does it have to be that exact knive or can it be another brand?
Try a butcher knife🤣🤣
Great video!
Thanks :)
Nice video with awesome tip
I am going to go and get it
great video 😍😘😗
Know it but never used it, your tutorial very helpful.kindly let me know the best coloured pencils you use.thanks in advance
Hello. :) I would like to buy soft colourpencils, but I don't have that much money to spend on them. Which one do you reccomend in middle range of price?
Also, I was thinking to buy just few expensive pencils so it won't spend a lot money on The , but what website do you reccomend? 😀😀😀
In my humble opinion, and a lifetime fan of coloring, now with over nine diff brands of colored pencils, I recommend the Crayola set of 50, for adults. You’ll note the difference between Crayola colored pencils for kids and Crayola colored pencils for adults (just Google, and you’ll be able to view the differences in packaging). Hands-down, to me, they are of the absolute best quality for the price. (In the United States you can buy that set of 50 for $12) Hope this helps! 😊
Carol Berquist Thank you very much! 😊😊😊
Wouldn’t various sized embossing tools work better for the etching??
Could you please do a portrait tutorial or face tutorial with polychromos ? Since they don’t work like the others you use I would love to see how you would draw a portrait with them
Beautiful and talented. Stay out of my dreams!!! 😡
wow.....👍👍👌👌
I've never used this before but I wonder if you can also use it on graphite drawings e.g. On hair....
Hello Kirsty! ^^✏
Which pencils do you use for portraits? Pastel?
