Popeyes Crispy Chicken Sandwich

- The Popeyes crispy chicken sandwich is the best. In my humble opinion, absolutely nothing comes close in the fast food world. Yet, even if you don't agree with me on this, there's one thing we can hopefully agree on: we can make it better at home. Yes, I said "we" -- that means YOU. So today, we've made a homemade crispy chicken sandwich with a few simple twists that bring it to a completely new level. Popeyes chicken has a unique crumbly and crispy texture around the edges, and I've worked to figure out exactly how to replicate this. And I love it so much that I'll likely be using this method from this point forward in the kitchen whenever making a chicken sandwich. Ingredients are as follows:
Buns
2 tbsp bread flour
1/4 cup whole milk
2 tbsp water
3/4 cup whole milk (warm)
1 tbsp active dry yeast
2 1/2 tbsp sugar
3 1/4 cups bread flour
1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
1 large egg
1 egg yolk
3 tbsp butter
Egg wash
Crispy Chicken
3 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup pickle juice
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp salt
1 cup potato/corn starch
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
Frying oil
Pickles (for topping)
Mayo
1 cup mayo
2 tbsp chives
1 tsp lemon zest
1 tsp salt

I Personally tried the UK popeyes chicken sandwich , and i have to say it tastes really crispy and juicy mostly on the edges of the chicken , it is packed with flavour , If You Want A Spicy challenge , go for a spicy popeyes chicken sandwich

That's actually pretty common among chefs. No one who spends that many hours in a kitchen wants to spend time cooking an elaborate meal at home and it's sometimes all they have time to eat.

Step 1 add lukewarm whole milk to a mixer, step 2 add 2 tablespoons of sugar, step 3 whisk, step 4 1 tablespoon of active dry yeast and whisk evenly, step 5 let sit for 5 minutes, step 6 add 3 an 1/2 cups of bread flour, step 7 add salt, step 8 mix, step 9 add 1 egg and 1 yolk, step 10 mix, step 11 add in 3 tablespoons of cubed butter, step 12 remove dough from mixer, step 13 put your dough is a greased bowl, step 14 cover dough with a damp towel and let rise for an hour and a half or so,

Step 1 flour your cutting board, step 2 take dough from bowl, step 3 plop dough down, step 4 shape the dough into a log, step 5 cut dough into equal pieces, step 6 pinch in the dough, step 7 roll dough, step 8 let dough rise for 15-20 mins and bake .

I would suggest trying the tenders. Theyre incredibly good, and really capture that crispy fried outside you love. I usually do tenders, a sandwhich, and a couple wings cuz I hate myself:)

Oh yum! After watching this, it’s definitely on my list of recipes to try - buns and all! We only recently got a Popeye’s in my neighborhood (well, 5 miles away); I can’t wait to try their crispy chicken sandwich (with fries, of course) AND a biscuit with honey. But I’m not sure they have red beans and rice on the menu, or the honey. We often get a subset of the U.S. menu of the same fast food restaurants ☹️. Still, I cannot wait, especially after watching this video!! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

when you grate the zest, try to keep the citrus fruit under the grater, you'll see what you are doing and not grating the white bitter part of the zest
My Nonna made egg wash by using 2 parts egg yolk, 1 part egg white and a teaspoon of water or milk. Depending on what she was baking, certain egg washes included milk. I follow suit with her method and it works every time.
