    Really love your videos! Tiny suggestion without trying to criticize: I think it would be helpful to pronounce French words the French way. Le Marais is not le marey, or hotel de ville, crêpe... I understand it may be easier for English speaking people to understand what you're saying when you slightly give the words an English pronunciation, but I have noticed our English speaking guests (we welcome guests in our holiday rentals here in Burgundy) really appreciate it when I tell them how to pronounce things correctly when they go out into the area here. It helps them be understood by the locals. And with Antoine being a native it should be easy for you to do?
    Do keep making these videos! They are so informative and helpful!

      "Mrs. Frenchie" has terrible pronunciation, yet her husband has quite good pronunciation. She has been making these videos with her husband for years and doesn't make the slightest effort to improve. I can't stand to listen to her, she so butchers the language. Too bad because the videos are otherwise reasonably worthwhile. When I watch them, I just mute her out of the show or skip over her portions.

    I spent two wonderful weeks in Paris -- on a budget. My son and I stayed in an Airbnb in the suburb of Montreuil. It would be nice to see a video where to stay for those of us who have a limited budget; which suburb is safe, which one is convenient, etc

    • @PozoBlue
      @PozoBlue 5 месяцев назад

      I would say to avoid the suburbs on the north of Paris as a general rule, safety wise, though that also includes some on the eastern region as well but not all of them. Recently stayed in Romainville and was nice as you can get spacier townhouses and take a quick metro to paris for the day. I had previously reserved one in montreuil but the area where the airbnb was was sketchy and i left. Ppl told me to avoid bagnolet as well, not sure why (on the eastern side). I also stayed in a southern suburb (ivry) and it was nice though not a lot to do but well connected with the tram. Went around in bus in next door vitry too but didnt like it so much. Walked through Villejuif which was safe and mostly nice townhouses like ivry. They say the south western suburbs are the best/safest though not always the most connected with public transport networks, and more expensive relative to other suburbs but cheaper than Paris. Guess it also depends on personal taste, type of accomodation, etc. What I did last time is take a hotel for 1-2 days and visited the suburbs where the various listings I was interested were in beforehand so I could see what the surroundings, vibes, transport was like. I am a solo female traveler and safety is something I have to consider now.

    Initially, I thought you were going to encourage us to branch away from the Marais, which is a great idea but I still laughed! You two have many talents, not the least of which is to introduce us to the delights of every place you have taken us. So I laughed because if you want to encourage us away from the Marais, you will have to take yourselves away so that we fall in love with other regions. I know, I know. What have you been doing for the last 3+ years if NOT that? But the initial bark of laughter was because of where I thought you were going in the first 30-40 seconds of the video. Reality did not play a role in what I was thinking. Great video! I kept rewinding (I know) to catch the name of the Patisserie but failed miserably.
    Your guide is FANTASTIC! I didn’t realize how interactive it is until I tried to save it as a document to access it off line. It has been VERY well done!

    Doing a deep dive into the neighbourhoods of Paris is a spectacularly good idea. And the Marais is obviously one of the best and you’ve represented it beautifully here. I do have to challenge your view that the lineup at L’As falafel is not worth standing in. That line up moves quickly and if a falafel could be life-changing, well, that’s the one that is. :-) thank you for yet another delectable peek into Paris that goes beyond the surface and into the real magic of the city.

    • @LesFrenchiesTravel
      @LesFrenchiesTravel  Год назад +3

      Perhaps, but the Falafels in nearby places are every bit as good (at least one even better). Also, as Sunstone who appreciated small business, I dungy like that the owner of L'As du Fallafel bought the building across the way where another restaurant was and rolled their tent because he didn't want competition. In my opinion, that's dirty business. I'm not a fan.

    My husband and I just returned from Paris this past December. Although this recommendation is in a very different area, this music club was the highlight of our trip.
    It is called:
    Les Chopes des Puces.
    It is a “Jazz Hot” style music club and restaurant/cafe. The music happens in Sunday afternoons I believe and the music was out of this world GREAT. It is rumored that Django Reinhardt himself started this club. Don’t walk, run to this place! Also told to avoid this area at night but also a very extensive market, kind of high end, maybe catering to decorators, not sure, that is worth walking through. This is one of those experiences that will stay with me forever. Any trip back to Paris will include a Sunday afternoon here.

    I thoroughly enjoy your informative channel. I will be traveling to Paris and other European cities in the very near future. Question:
    Years ago, I travelled on Eurail and found I could use the Information Kiosk, designated by 'I' at major train stations to make reservations for hotels and train travels. This was years ago. Do those Information Kiosks still exist for travelers to make hotel/pensione/accommodations bookings upon arrival? I found them to be very useful which gave me lots of flexibility with my itinerary instead of booking ahead with fixed accommodation.
    Your views are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    We discovered you by accident. We're leaving next week to spend 86 days in France and northeastern Spain. A dream of mine. I love your recommendations for practical matters. One thing I haven't seen are some tips on navigating getting sick. Since France's system is a bit different than ours in the states, I'd like to know what the differences are.

      @@LesFrenchiesTravel I'm glad you like my suggestion! I'm a nurse, so these little tidbits are useful. Maybe we'll see you on the streets of Paris while we're there. 5th time in Paris! We'll be spending my birthday in one of your recommended hotels. We usually are more budget friendly.

    Have you sone a segment on South Asia restaurants. Some are excellent. Passage Brady is well known with varying degrees of quality.

    Last time I visited Paris, we stayed at an Airbnb in le Marais (two couples), and I much preferred it to staying at a hotel, even a nice one. Having your own kitchen and living area makes such a difference, especially when travelling with friends, and not dealing with a front desk or staff just feels more relaxed. Gives you the opportunity to take advantage of the shops to stock yourselves up for snacks/apero and live less like a tourist and more comme un vrai parisien! Also, as a tourist, I love how bike-friendly the city is now, althogh I bet most parisians are annoyed by it.

    Great video. Merci! Did not catch the name of the famous restaurant on Place des Voges. Can you spell it out please? Also, honorable mention here: Goralska Hotel on Blvd. Bourdon, (on the canal near the Bastille.) Each room is like a little apartment if you like more space.

    Seeing you touring the marais, the place i was born and grew up in, has a bitterweet taste. All of my childhood friends and their family, me included, ended up leaving this place and selling their flats: this neighborhood is simply too expensive for simple people to live in now. Tourism can be a blessing and a curse at the same time.
    Maybe this neighborhood is too beautiful for us plebs to enjoy on the daily.

    Le Marais is lovely to walk around but it’s extremely busy with so many tourists. Great place for young people. Nothing beat the 6th Saint-Germain area.
