Hope you enjoyed your Zevon day Brett. There's a lot of wisdom, life and learning in Warren's songs. Good luck with your divorce too. I'm a fair bit older than you and it took me a long time to realise that music and marriage don't mix. Maybe it does for some but I chose music and have never regretted it. Music never lies; will always be your friend and never let you down; and won't ever walk out the door. That and a few friends can be enough to get by. I wonder what Warren would say ?
It was mostly a good day, thank you! There were a few interruptions so I didn't get quite as many albums in as I'd hoped, but there's always next year :) And thank you for the well-wishes, too. The divorce wasn't my idea but you can bet I'm leaning heavily on my music collection, as well as friends (I've had an awesome support group through this). Warren would no doubt have some practical, delightfully cynical words of wisdom for me *lol*
I do! Like I said, it started as a joke two years ago because it was on Labor Day here in the States, then I thought making an extra-long weekend would be a good idea. It was VERY difficult to get back up for work today after 5 days off!
cool idea bruh ... i'm going to check out your ranking from last year, assuming i'll find it ... i'm not an expert on warren, but some of my favorite songs from him are 'i was in the house when the house burned down' and 'for my next trick i'll need a volunteer' ... i think all of us that eventually hit the wall with addictions/alcohol hurt people somehow, as part of the fact that we are hurting inside ourselves ... a lot of wrong directions in our culture to take ,,, nice vinyl stash - yeah i think the longer we listen to any album, normally we're just going to like it more, like getting to know a friend, etc. ,,, actually now that you mention it, the war on drugs has an excellent live version of 'accidentally like a martyr', i believe still on youtube, fyi, awesome. ... sorry to hear about your trials man,,, i went thru a divorce as well,,, hang in there, just know you're not alone. peace
Thank you for the words of encouragement! I hope you still enjoy my page after seeing the ranking *lol* I've been lucky, never had addiction issues other than drinking WAY too much in my 20s... Warren had a knack for writing such empathetic songs, words we can all relate to at some point in our journey. Stay strong on yours! Oh, and I looked up the WoD version before responding. I'd never heard it and I'm quite impressed! Very heartfelt rendition, well-played.
No idea how I got this recommended to me but I’m here for it
Welcome! lol

You take a day off for a Zevon-a-thon? That is hilarious. So much Zevon to discover and I always scour the Z section in hopes of a rare score.

From the thumbnail I thought this was a clip from The Big Lebowski! "Is this yours, Larry? Is this your Warren Zevon album, Larry?"

Hey you should talk about your favourite Neil young albums
Thank you for the suggestion, I may just have to do that :)
