  • Flawed and hard to believe, just some of the reactions to Venezuela's presidential election results.
The state-controlled electoral council has announced President Nicolas Maduro the winner of Sunday's election.
This will be his third term as President after an election that multiple exit polls suggested the opposition would win.
Maduro says the electoral system is transparent but that hackers were trying to compromise the outcome.
Venezuela's opposition coalition has rejected Maduro's victory.
They claim that their candidate Edmundo Gonzales won 70 percent of the vote.
He is calling on his supporters not to take to the streets or commit acts of violence.
Al Jazeera’s Alessandro Rampietti is following the latest developments from neighbouring Colombia's capital, Bogota.
Javier Farje, a Latin American historian and former electoral observer in Venezuela, says the opposition will count on the international community’s support in disputing the vote results.

Why does an "insignificant" South American country grab so much attention from the anglo American media (including Al Jazeera)?
With the exception of the Palestinian issue, the alignment between Al Jazeera and the West is perfect.
All of those buildings, embassies and consulates, that were unilateral take by the anglo American empire and the European Union, and offered to Juan Guaidó, will they be transferred to the new opposition leader?
The Venezuelan Pd'VSA in the United States, which was sized unilaterally and transferred to Juan Guaidó and his team, will the new venezuelan opposition leader "inherit" those assets as well?
What about the Venezuelan gold in England?
This isn't about "democracy" really, right?

When you win, you celebrate. When you lose, you accept the results. You can't be a part-time believer in democracy. The opposition should unite themselves better, and work toward a victory. Polls do not decide the results, the votes do.
