I'm a C64 person at heart myself, don't usually watch any Atari stuff - been a full-time software developer since the age of 17 thanks to my Commodore computers - but I've got to hand it to the developers, this is incredible! Just goes to show, each machine had its strengths, I can see that creating this was truly a labour of love. Everything, from the audio, to the cute loader, to the game, is *so* polished. Sometimes I wish I had a time machine, and could go back, "casually" loading something like this into the machines they used to have on display in the shops of the time. Seriously impressive stuff - and yes, if they had this on display .vs. the already-existing C64 version, I'd buy the Atari. 😀👍
C64 version is very good too: in fact I even like its graphics better 😊 ...yet C64 version seems to be less fluid and has what I consider "a bug" with those guillotines: when I step through they just cut me (not a case with PC or Atari 8bit version). HUGE plus to C64 version it doesn't demand 128 KB of RAM 😜
Seriously, I didn't intend to comment twice but this is a programming miracle. As an Atari enthusiast for about as long as Atari has existed, I can't believe that you were able to wring out this level of graphics, sound, cinematics, and game play from the 8-bit machines. It's amazingly impressive and I know I speak for the community when I say we are all so grateful. It would be awesome to see more work from such a talented and dedicated crew. But if this is the only title you ever release, it's still awesome work. Thank you!
The first steps have already been taken to port Another World to C64, so we are waiting for a port to Atari XL / XE. Well, in general, I think the problem of the lack of beautiful and interesting games on Atari is that the platform was the first (one of the first) and there was simply no experience in developing such games. And when these games began to appear, the platform seemed already old and no one made any effort to develop it. And Atari Corp itself went bankrupt. It seems to me an obvious step would be to release not ST, but a new 6502 + prefix, some GTIA2, for example, which would provide additional opportunities for sprite graphics, parallax, stereo sound, while maintaining backward compatibility.
This is a fantastic work of art on the Atari , I have had an Atari ever since they came out and I like this game, gonna play it as soon as I get my fixed Atari 130 XE back. Russ
Amazing, absolutely awesome...better than original PC-DOS version...in some points looks like game for 16-bit....my dream game for my beloved Atari 8-bit is one title from Sierra On-Line...Police Quest 2 or 3....but every port from Sierra's adventure point'n'click will be my Holy Grail....thanks for everything genius coders....i love U...Atari still live and now is the number 1... greetings!!!
One question. How? Looks like some kind of double buffering or seamless usage of interrupts to maximaze the palette and texture smoothness. At least the flickering hints it is so but still I would like to know how :))) It´s astonishing.
Undoubtly the best version for 8 bits. I dare to say that SNES version is not superior than this amazing version. Thanks for sharing Atari 8 bits for ever.
I finished this version a few days ago. Compared to C64 version it's more fluid, less buggy, more colourful... but with a bit coarser graphics in my opinion 😊 PS on big plus C64 version has: it doesn't require 128 KB of RAM 🤣
Its not a plus or a drawback, it is what it is especially now that memory expansions are so cheap and available, not to mention AVG and SUB carts that come with memory expansion on board. Its like whining about needing an Amiga's trapdoor memory to play a good game. The graphics are superior in this port, adding to the atmosphere by following a far better aesthetic, that of the BBC micro.
@@nickolasgaspar9660 Well, I actually slightly reconsidered and now like Atari's version more than C64's but hey, it's neither "cheap" not "available" to add extra RAM into my Atari 800 XE
It's frikkin amazing that what it is. Who cares if it needs more memory, that doesn't matter. I think this demonstrates in gfx and audio how impressive the Atari really is given the right coders. I'm glad I kept my atari collection.

@@b213videoz The C64 version looks plain compared to this.
@@mortimore4030 Yes, in the end I grew to like Atari version more 😊
I bought my 800 in 1980 and 40 plus years later it still continues to impress and amaze.
Flipping fantastic!!
The animation audio and gfx are outstandingly good.
Thanks for uploading and total respect to you superb coders!
Glad this project finally got finished. Great job!

yes, I agree 100% - this is amazing achievement which I would never tell that is even possible. Guys that made it are just pure geniuses!
This is unbelievable. Thank you! Thanks Mr. Mechner!
Mr. rensoup......
This is so awesome. Some things in this world are a complete good like this and Crabby Patties.

Was it a memory fault with your XE? Hope you got it fixed.
@@tharkthax3960 It was its fixed
For the xl this version looks spot on full of colour aswell and sound good
This is outstanding work, loved to watch the progress over at AtariAge - awesome!
Congratz!

Kto by kiedyś pomyślał, że to wyjdzie na małe Atari.... fajna. Teraz też robi wrażenie jak na XL/XE.... Kiedyś gały by wypadły.
👍😁😜😜😁👍
since this was totally a success can i request Manic Mansion next?A port for the Atari is all thats needed!!
Awesome and beautiful!
It's amazing.
It's like ST game, not XL. :)
I think the same...

How to do small steps in this version?

An awesome work. I think it would capable to fit in 64kb too if we obvious the first amazing intro. Anyway, awesome work !
LOL You still don't know the shortcut for the first level?
