A lot of Build a Pi will work but not all of it. Some of it is specific to the ARM processor and may not load correctly on the x86 platform.

I'm also wondering about an install of Raspbian X86 ??? Still not ARM of course but at least many other differences would be eliminated...

What I noticed about the spreadsheet is that, while the Pi had fewer advantages, all the ones it did have were significant (like 3x or 8x) while the Evolve advantages were marginal with one exception, which is significant. That said, loving my Evolve so far! Thanks for benchmarking.

I think the build in keyboard, video and mouse at this price point are the killer deal. I don't understand how they can make a profit at this price point.

Build a Pi for this would be fantastic. Runs from 12vdc no need for buck converter and has screen keyboard and mouse, My local micro center has the lte versions in stock. guess I'm going for a drive. Great vid

This is a great test! When you think about carrying/packaging and setting up the two (pi and evolve), yeah evolve makes sense for the portable ham use case.

I think this was a fair test. You're really just comparing how well each device will perform the same task. The next test might be which device emits the most RF.

I have enjoyed my Evolve III so far and I am using a Samsung USB Attached 1TB SSD for my D:\ drive and they work real well together. I am going to test it with WSJT-X tomorrow with my FT-891 and DigiRig.

@@temporarilyoffline - I retired 4 years ago in IT Management. We were mainly a Linux Shop and I still enjoy the platform after retirement. Take some old gear and refurbish it with more memory and a SSD and it makes a nice responsive Linux computer. Even though we were mainly a Red Hat Enterprise shop, we still used a good number of Debian computers, especially with our network guys. But I still use Windows mainly for my logging software. But all the scripts we developed for networking and cybersecurity made Linux a great tool.

Nice! Try CQRLog or HAMRS for logging on Linux, I use both depending on the task.
