    With a properly designed "transformer" in a flyback converter there is no need for L1 and in fact it interferes with proper operation.
    A small inductor is often used between two electrolytic capacitors to reduce output noise, but it is intended for RF filtering, not energy storage.

    If both the auxiliary and secondary transformer windings is 5T then they both gonna output 3v to 15V. The Uc3842 need 16v + to boot up, and it shut down at around 10v. Also the 15v zener is on the low side.

    Sir you used zener diode of 15v between ground and pin 7 But the starting voltage of uc3842 is 16v so in this case the ic donot start.

    Many thanks for sharing, there are 2 versions of UC3842 one with 25v (UC3842BN) and the other is 30v max (UC3842N), which one is your circuit, please? Cheers

    you used AWG25. The max current for that is 0,457A and You wound it as 4 wires parallel so 4*0,457=1.828A. How do you think to get 10A over this seconder?

      just adjust the variable resistor to get the appropriate and desired voltage

    the zener should be 18v, because to start up threshold need around 16 - 17.5 v. So if you used 15v zener the IC dont start anyway.

      Your right; I've tested a few uc3842, uc3843 and 3845. The uc3842 turns on with a threshold voltage of 16 volts; the uc3843 with 8.5 volts. After turned on you can set the uc3842 to 15 volts.

    what's the difference between fast recovery fr107 and schottky mbr20100 diodes, some have used 1n4007 for powering up uc3842, also how does a small ferrite transformer able to deliver such high current.

    I was halfway making the 12v 10a power supply with uc3843 you showed in a previous video but then this video came out.
    I made my transformer feedback winding for 8 turns but this circuit uses 5 turns.
    Can I use 8 turns for this circuit?

      Yeah. The feedback should take care of regulation. Just ensure you use a good snubber network (use at least 2W rated resistor and a good quality capacitor because they can get quite warm)

      Sure. Current sense resistor provides feedback to pin3 on the primary side. In case of a short circuit on the output, more current will be drawn on the primary side (primary winding) causing a ramp up of current. I've set the maximum current flow on the primary winding to 5A, otherwise feedback causes the IC to cut off its PWM output. Also there's a Fuse in case everything else fails. In the video I mentioned you can optionally use an op amp for both voltage and current sensing on the secondary side and together with the optocoupler, you can provide feedback to the IC. So, both current and voltage control is very possible with a simple adjustment.

      The duty cycle of uc3842 ic is less than 50% and will change depending on how much current is going through primary winding of transformer and feedback from optocoupler pc 817 and tl431 voltage reference.

    Dear sir,
    Please guide me. Iam facing a problem in SMPS based battery charger. Now in market so many battery chargers are available claiming universal, that is input 100v to 265. Output 14.2v 2amp. But when I charge in 100v the current is not giving 2amp and charging is slow. Why? But in 230v charging is fast.

      It's possible, but that will reduce the maximum power due to the hysteresis effect involving the ferrite core meeting the ferrite core

      Always use less then 1K resistance on pin3 to source. 470 ohm is best value .

      usually for the first layer there is a primary winding with a total of 30 turns, and the second is a secondary winding with the desired number, and the third is a feedback or auxiliary winding with the number as needed, then the fourth layer is a continuation of the primary winding from the previous primary which is wound in the same direction.
