Kyle, I have the TMC Vecton 600 and need to replace the bulb. Have you changed your bulb and if so how did you do the process. Could you please make a video changing the bulb? I believe this would be awesome to see the one change from start to finish.
Hey Steven, so I haven't changed the bulb out yet, but I have looked over how to do it. Honestly not excited about the process but know that it needs to be done soon... I might make it happen here in the next 3-5 weeks or so if you could wait that long?!
@@kylerogers9046 Hi Kyle, cool I can wait. FYI I contacted TMC today. The process was shared if I only replace the bulb, I do not have to stop the water flow, but they recommend to stop the flow. If I clean the Quartz inner Tube, I must stop the water flow. The last tip given was only to Teflon Tape, the elbow or elbows. I hope the information is helpful?
@@smaier32 haha - yea my biggest concern is where I mounted mine, I'm going to have to pull it off no matter what to extract the bulb... so... I'll stop the water to that on my manifold. Better to not have water going for a potential failure :)
Are you still happy with the unit? Space wise I can not fit an aqua or pentair in my stand so I am considering one of their models. Any updated feedback would be greatly appreciated. TY
hey lee - the short answer is yes I am happy with it, the long answer is I haven't actually been running it for some time now, it was plumbed in line with my external refugium and that tank cracked a while back, I didn't see much for a change in the main tank so I've literally had it sitting for months and months now. I AM planning on getting it back up as soon as all of the shelter and place things get lifted and I can get to the pet store to buy a replacement tank. I will say i definitely found that it cleared the water of any green tints, and I definitely think it's worth it for that alone! another point is that getting a second one of these and mounting them side by side would more than likely put you into the level 2 UV protection (if my memory serves me right) to assist in parasitic control, but for what I've used it for, i've not been disappointed.
If I were you I would set up a screen between the see through pipes and the refugium lamp or you will soon have algie blooming inside the pipes! Best would be if you could limit the light to the refugium only but I know that can be hard. I'm currently thinking about designing a sump with black glass as separation beteen the sump sections for that reason. :)
So I do have black polycarbonate separating the refugium out, I am actually considering changing my refugium light to a less intense light. I really have no reason to keep an AI Prime as a fuge light. I put some towels around the lid to keep light going where I want it. I really wanted some black vinyl tubing and would recommend that to anybody, but Home Depot didn't have any in stock...
Kyle,I have the same uv as you but the 400 model .tested for leaks in the bath and its leaking where the elbow meets the unit.Did you put teflon tape round the threads of this where it joins the unit? it been leak free since you installed it? im looking forward to green free water on my planted tank but worried in case I empty contents of tank onto the floor!
yes - keeping water in tank is a goooood idea! :-p I did have to use a little Teflon tape, didn't gack it up completely, but I did make sure that the rubber gasket was seated correctly, and then I cranked down the plastic lock nut pretty hard. They are pretty durable though so I wouldn't be too worried. Take it off, make sure your rubber gasket is sitting correctly (they're not super great, but they have to be tight to get a good seal) and try again. Let me know your outcome. I only had a small drip in mine in which I just tightened it a little more and it went away.
Oh, and good video as usual. Thanks for the content.
Thank you!

Can someone tell me: is it obligatory to disconnect the Vecton from the pipes and drain the water from it to replace the bulb?
yes otherwise you will go up with a bang water and electric don't mix
I might have missed it in the video but what was your reason for adding the UV sterilizer? Was it the parasite issue?
